By nexxus
I wanted to play sounds ingame thus i searched through the internet but couldnt find any soundboard programm which worked. By a coincidence i found that option macrobuttons in a soundprogramm i was already using. It turned out, that the integrated soundboard was really good.
In order to help the people who have long been searching for such a soundboard programm i'm going to show you which programm i use and how it works.

Should work for every game.

Advantages by using the programm
  • You can play sounds/music ingame by pressing a hotkey(+many options like fade sounds... )
  • You can split the sound/music for example if you play them ingame and you dont want the same sound to get played in your teamspeak channel
  • You can change your voice for example you can add more bass
  • For streamers you can play music only for your visitors without distracting yourself
  • You can use third provider programms such as Foobar and you can decide again if you want the music to get played ingame, in your teamspeak or only for you (You need Virtual audio Driver therefore you have to donate 1€ or 1$ on the website)
  • You can hear your own voice without any delay
  • And much more....just experiment
1. Get the Programm
First you have to download the programm. You can download the free programm Voicemeeter Banana by pressing here[www.vb-audio.com].
2. Starting the programm
After downloading Voicemeeter Banana you can start the programm. Dont be afraid if you dont hear any sound or your micro isnt working anymore. Thats because you first have to change your primary audio device what we will do later( point 4 and 5). Before we come to these points i will explain you approximately how to configure the program.

Voicemeeter is acting as a distributor. Sound from your micro or generally your pc can be modified and splitted to different outputs by using voicemeeter.

Important: You always need Voicemeer now to hear anything or to use your micro thats why i would activate system tray.

3. Selecting the programs audio devices
Here you can see my currently settings. The red marked area is the area where you choose your hardware devices.
  • Right click : Changes the Name
  • Left click: Chooses the hardware device

Every hardware device has his own marked area where you can edit your options.

Basically its identical where you choose your micro as you can see i've chosen the left area.

Now select your micro(you can also rename it if you want)

Now we come to the different options of the red marked area on the left side.

  • Intellipan: Right-click changes between 3 windows which change your voice. Double left-click is reset
  • Audibility: Compressor and gate allows you to boost your voice and manage noisy talk
  • A1, A2, A3: Output of your sound like your Headset or your monitor speakers (thats what you will hear)
  • B1, B2: Output of your sound like micro output (thats what the other players will hear)
  • Volume: I hope you can imagine what that does
  • Other options like mute is self explanatory

  • Programs output: these are the two choices for your output you have to notice
  • Output device: in the top right corner you can choose your output device for example your headset (i've chosen WDM Lautsprecher (Realtek High Definition) thats the german name for my headset)

Now select your audio output device(for example your headset) in the top right, use WDM again.
4. Selecting the primary Playback device
Now after selecting your audio output device we can select the pc's primary audio devices.
  • Just press your windows button and type audio devices(in eng)
  • Then you will see something like that (ignore the language, it should be called "playback"):

  • In the first section you can edit your output device.
  • You want to hear the edited sound of the voicemeeter program therefore you choose one of your noticed choices: Voicemeeter VAIO or Voicemeeter AUX VAIO its basically the same (the only thing that is different is the place in the program) i've chosen Voicemeeter AUX VAIO.
  • Dont forget to press the red marked areas they should be called "as default" and "apply"
5. Selecting the primary recording device
The same you do in the next section which should be called recording.
  • Again choose Voicemeeter VAIO or Voicemeeter AUX VAIO but now they stands for B1 or B2. I've chosen Voicemeeter AUX VAIO again.
How the program works
Voicemeeter often needs a restart after doing that.
Now we are almost ready to use Voicemeeter. This picture simply shows how it works now:

  • 1: Every sound for example caused by Youtube goes into our choosen primary playback audio device thats Voicemeeter AUX VAIO
  • 2: You wouldnt hear anything until you choose your own output device which are A1, A2, and A3. Before we had chosen our Headset device for A1 if you activate A1 now by pressing left-click the sound will go all the way to your headset. If you select for example your TV as A2 you can simply switch between hearing music on your headset and hearing music on your TV. Its advantageous if you want to watch a youtube video in your bed behind you on your big TV like me xD.

Thats how the sound goes through when you have B1 (which is Voicemeeter Output VAIO) selected as Teamspeak input in your Teamspeak settings and B2(Voicemeeter output AUX VAIO) as ingame micro (often you cannot choose your micro in some games thats why we've chosen B2 as primary before).
  • 1. Your voice goes through the program
  • 2. If you activate B1 and B2 now as well the teamspeak users as the players ingame will hear your voice. If you want to hear your own voice for example you want to experiment with the Intellipan you just have to active your audio output for example A1.
Macro Buttons
If everything is working you can start editing your macros.

First activate "MacroButtons: Run at voicemeeter start" therefore press menu in the top right corner under "system Tray" you can find this option. Basically the program should have already started now.

Unless press the windows button and write "Macro Buttons". After that start that programm.
Now you can enlarge the program as much as you want. You can see we have more possible Macros as Hotkeys xD.

Now press right click on one of them.

Important for us:
  • Button name: Just the name
  • Button type(top right): Push button(you have to hold the button), 2 Positions(You have to press to start and to stop)
  • Keyboard shortcut: here you choose your Hotkey i would use the Numpad Keys (dont forget to activate the keys by pressing "num lk" (its the top left key on your numpad)
  • Request for Button ON /Trigger in: Here you use the command to load your sound file
  • Request for Button OFF / Trigger OUT: Here you use the command to stop your sound file
  • You have much more options.....
which you can find here [www.vb-audio.com]on page 39

Use your own path and file name.

Now press ok and you are done.

I WOULD PREFER TO PRESS THE HOTKEY BEFORE (2 POSITION BIND) AND THEN THE KEY FOR THE INGAME VOICECHAT(THATS MY LEFT MOUSE BUTTON). I DIDNT MANAGE TO GET BOTH ACTIVATED WITH ANY COMMAND, I DONT KNOW IF ITS ACTUALLY POSSIBLE.

If you know how please tell us in the commands.

Start your game and have fun.

P.S.: Sometimes "Push Button" is failing i do not know why. If someone find it out please tell us in the commands. You cannot press the numpad hotkey if you for example pressing a key like "shift".

I hope i could help you
