the only reason the devs can afford the premium is bc people actually fall for the immunity scam. if they didnt, they would go bankrupt. bots like hexatronic have to buy premium every 4 months because of the bans.

bots can run off of anything, down to a pi zero. they work by reading the raw data that the server sends them. this allows them to instantly find your head and detect disguised/invis spies, as your computer still renders them on the back end. the source leak made this much MUCH worse as more people had access to how data was sent between servers and computers. this also led to crit hacks. bots also save time in development by just taking valve's own bot meshes for training servers. bots run on tf2 premium which makes them harder to kick, harder to ban and able to re-queue instantly.
