Early Access Review
Absolutely appalling!!
Who the hell releases a game THIS unfinished?
The game doesn't save
No freedom to place objects where YOU want
There's virtually NOTHING to do
No intuitive tutorial
Graphics are nice enough
but it is EXTREMELY BARE BONES and I mean BARE BONES!!!!
It needs lots and LOTS of work before it's even remotely playable
I know that early access games are yet to be fully realized, but this is ridiculous!
NO WAY IN HELL can I recommend it in its current form, not at all!
And in spite of the low price, you'd just be wasting your money, the devs should've held off a LOT LONGER before even THINKING about releasing this game!

"Attention Bajoran workers, this is your task master, (Gul Dukat) I would like to wish you all.....Happy PRIDE month......
NOW GET BACK TO WORK!"

Oh don't listen to that son of a @!*£!, I need HELP!
This is lostboiz93 and I'm currently trapped on Q'onos (the Klingon home world) and I'm being stalked by a disgruntled member of the Duras family, if you happen to be a starship captain who resembles either Angelina Jolie or Gerard Butler, then you'll find me in the caves of N'omat with my new companion, Toby the Targ, I will pay 5 slips of latinum (NOT quatloos) for rescue!........ and if you happen across L'ursa and/or B'etor TELL THEM NOTHING!

It's a good game, graphics are somewhat dated, "orion Pirates" was waaay better (Steam....that's a hint, yes?)
Has a tendency to crash out on newer more powerful 'puters, missions are okay, it's fun to while away an hour or two nothing more, especially with games as complex as they are these days.

it's good to blow the dust of this one from time to time......providing it doesn't crash however.

Stupendously great fun, despite the age of this game, it still retains its lustre. It's great to just wile away an hour or two. It plays well, it can be hilariously funny at times and despite the many successful sequels to the game this one still remains one of my favourites.

It has a surprising amount of customizable features including:
- Create your own cutomized teams (including enemy teams) modify names, flags, victory music, voices etc
- Customize your own battle grounds, from caves to islands and choose from a variety of terrains and back grounds OR select an existing level from lots already included.
- Modify skill levels for your own team(s) and enemy's and play with up to six different teams at a time with a choice of between 1 and 8 worms per team
- Modify weapons and customize their effectiveness and choose from a variety of special weapons.
- Change hit points for each team and first aid kits
- Make your battleground as basic OR as dangerous as you want, by littering the land with explosive mines and oil drums
- Collect ammo, special and 'unique' weapons some of which are ONLY available thru 'crate' deliveries, or you can use these supply caches as a weapons by destroying them.
- Easy to use, user friendly menus and displays
- And a kick a** theme tune to boot!

It takes up very little space on your hard disk, and takes no time at all to load up.
NO glitches, bugs or crashes AT ALL! and no DODGY AI to annoy you.
GREAT FUN, you'll probably forget to eat or go to sleep ;-)

NEW POST as of JUNE 2023

This game has improved significantly, especially with the recent map expansion, as I said in some of of my earlier comments my two young sons enjoyed this game EVEN with all its previous flaws, however it got to the point that even they lost interest until......this year, we've ALL come back to the game, it's becoming quite enjoyable, the devs are paying attention to the players and I thank Tamara (DEV) for the feedback given to my earlier review. You can read Tamara's post in terms of the most pressing issues addressed, and a LOT of them HAVE addressed, that being said however, their are still SOME glitches, such as passengers clipping thru roofs when standing up, the wheels on the bus don't go round and round, meh! I'm not going to nit pick too much as these things don't kill the game or spoil enjoyment too much, there has been great improvement, for me one of the most profound high points of the game is the shear customization features (why is there a red wavy line under customization? damn this British keyboard!)
Anyhoo....bonus on the improvements, and as long as those creases stay ironed out, things are finally looking up for Bus Sim 21 nxt stop....ergo.....I recommend, I really do!

OLD REVIEW FROM 2022 BELOW (to be removed in due course)

I can't recommend this to anyone at the moment because there are WAY TOO MANY issues that I, and other players are experiencing. NPC (Non Player Characters) issues are exhaustive and they appear to have a death wish which is ALL TOO contagious!

- Drivers frequently crashing buses into stationary objects and scenery for no apparent reason.
- Pedestrians Jay walking on highways and byways OR taking a stroll along the medians that divide them.
- NPC drivers have glitchy, jittery arm movements on the steering wheel, as if they're having some kind of seizure.
- Larger buses and double "deckers" constantly get stuck on corners, as the curves in the road are way too unrealistically sharp and tight.
- NPC Driven buses DO NOT stick to established bus routes, constantly and randomly changing direction and missing out bus stops all together.
- NPC buses stop at bus stops but don't let passengers off.
- Passengers heads and bodies clip thru vehicle bodies and roofs
- When it rains passengers are holding unfurled umbrellas INSIDE buses, which clip thru the walls of buses,
Similarly, when it rains, some pedestrians are holding their arms out as if holding an umbrella, but they're empty handed.
- NPC Buses stop at bus stops for FAR TOO LONG causing long lines of buses to gather up behind them.
- NPC Buses tend to stop for too long at junctions when there is no traffic, this also applies to other NPC traffic.
- NPC traffic appear to be unsure of whom has right of way at junctions and on/off ramps.
- Pedestrians are constantly stepping out in front of buses and traffic and paying no attention to the roads at all, this especially causes problems when driving yourself as colliding with a pedestrian incurs a costly penalty.
- NPC drivers don't appear to obey traffic lights, or pedestrian crossing lights.
- Pedestrians don't appear to observe or obey the "walk / don't walk" lights at cross walks.
- Crosswalks are often located in the most dire locations, such as right in front of a bus stop or even in some cases, right OVER a bus stop, yes you heard correctly, an actual crossing THRU a bus stop, GREAT civic management!
- Buses spawn out of thin air, in a stationary position even in the middle of highways.
- People drop thru bridges onto the streets below, or do a "Mary Poppins" and suddenly take off and fly thru the air. (this looks especially freaky when they're holding umbrellas) DEVS will you please fix this won't you? spit spot!
- On the town map, the detail is messy, confusing and unclear, with bus route colors too similar to other routes, making it impossible to clearly highlight a single route.
- When you customize your buses inside the paint shed, the lighting is poor and the shading is bad depending on the model of bus you're customizing, and decals are sometimes glitchy or broken.
- The route planner / designer is appallingly bad, way too basic and unworkable. You get a choice of "loop OR ping pong"
- There is NO way to change the weather, when it rains (and it rains VERY often) the visibility is atrocious.
- Bus stops are all "road side" meaning they stop ON the road as opposed to pulling into a "bay lane" this causes an incredible blockage of traffic.
- Buses will wait an insurmountable length of time letting cars and trucks past them instead of pulling out when there is right of way, and they have an annoying habit of slowing down and stopping for no reason.
- The lanes and markings on the roads and junctions are inconsistent and unclear and at times completely devoid of markings, lines, lanes or signage, leaving you unsure of where you're supposed to be.
- There are often invisible obstacles on the roads or streets leading to unavoidable collisions.
- Bus stops are often too close together, and the world maps too small to operate large fleets. Journeys are way too short by distance, but too long time wise as buses stay too long at each stop.
- At present the so called "bus station" is nothing more than a glorified bus stop with only 2 stops. (I don't bother using it as buses tend to "back up" and / or get stuck on curve when entering or leaving the bus station (especially double deckers)
- The game frequently freezes (not crashes thankfully, at least not for me elseways) and sticks, the game becomes stuttery and "janky" especially when entering a high "spawn in" area of the map (despite my having a high 'spec' computer)
- Pedestrians appear to walk as if in VERY slow motion, and what's with some of the people walking in quick but tiny "pin steps"? it takes them forever and an age to cross the 'dang' road! it's sooo annoying.

This list could go on forever, but I won't! For MOST of these "issues" fixes via regular updates SHOULD take care of the problem, but at this rate I don't think the DEVS (Developers) will EVER solve all the problems, it's disappointing and it makes the game damn well 'unplayable' and spoils the fun.
Is this what game designers do now? Create and sell a 'BROKEN' game to people for no small amount of dosh and then spend forever fixing it on the fly? For GOD's sake DEVS, GET your act together!
THIS JUST WON'T DO!
The last update they sent out has actually made things WORSE, now ALL my NPC buses are chock full of people STUCK in closed doors and arms, legs and heads sticking out of the bus.

Has ABSOLUTELY NO sound WHATSOEVER, No Help at all in rectifying this, I've got a high spec graphics and sound card, All other apps, games and windows itself ALL have sound EXCEPT THIS ONE! I MEAN WTF!?

UPDATED POST:
After a frustrating effort to find alternative help, I finally found the help I required from a friend of mine from a recording studio who uses this software and was able to guide me thru the sound settings.

Now I'll change my recommendation to yes, but ONLY under the caution that you may experience similar difficulties

I've always loved civ games, and this is no exception, however, I'm rather disgruntled that most of the time my game quits to desk top when trying to load or re-load a saved game, unless I leave the computer on constantly, and I can't afford to make a mistake. This problem tends to occur later in the game, the more cities, the bigger the territories, the more cultivated the land etc, I have a rather high spec gaming PC with decent hardware and powerful graphics card, and this is the only game I've had probs with so far. So it's really off putting when this happens, since as most players will attest, you can put a lot of your time into a game, but if for any reason the PC has to be switched off or re booted, I frequently find I can no longer continue and that's maddening. I make multiple different game saves to try to combat this, but I find myself often repeating the same steps and decisions and I'm beginning to find the game unplayable. Furthermore, the game takes forever and an age to load and that includes launching the game, other times when games have successfully loaded, I've found that terrain improvements I have made have disappeared, and while I don't dispute the merits of the game itself with other reviews posted, I cannot, in good conscience recommend the game to others until these types of glitches are fixed, which I feel is a monumental shame considering the overwhelmingly positive reviews I've read.
