Here is a no spoiler part - The game is a masterpiece, plain and simple. Those who cry for facile happy endings miss the point entirely. Night City is purgatory; closure is not an option when you're already damned.

Cyberpunk 2077 never flinched from showing that Night City ruthlessly extinguishes hope and consumes even the most innocent. That's the point. From the very start you are dealt a bad hand, that's just how this world is. You are told time and time again where your road will lead - Night City will lead you on with slivers of hope just to extinguish them soon after. That's the point and that's what makes it beautiful.

To experience such an impactful storytelling experience and have some still criticize it for a lack of happy resolution shows a shallow understanding of the game's ethos. Night City shapes its inhabitants' fates - hopes are illusions that dissolve into the neon and rain.

The beauty of Cyberpunk lies in its harsh reality. It's not about fairy tale endings. It's about survival, about making the toughest choices when the chips are down. It's a game of poker, and Night City always holds the trump card.

Who to trust? Who's an ally? Who's an enemy? The game gives no easy answers, no fairy tale endings - just this haunting, melancholic denouement. All characters have their own motivations, their own dreams. In the end you get exactly what you always knew you will - a bitter pill to swallow. Yet, that's what makes it so poignant.

I'm amazed at how this expansion built on the dark majesty of the original in such a meaningful way. it's hauntingly poetic.

The negative reactions of some people only elevate it's impact. I'm in awe of how boldly it rejected comforting tropes.

Truly, there are no real winners here, just survivors clinging to whatever slivers of meaning they can find.
