The original game is amazing, but there have been issues reported with this port - hanging visual orientation does not change controller orientation, so good luck with tate. And someone else said the lives you start with are inconsistent. These questions have gone unanswered for 5 months. Tough to support devs that do not care about gamers.

Brilliant game. Runs like butter on the Steam Deck. Music is great. One of those games that pulls you in so much that you are almost sad just because your playthrough is over. Lots of replayability. Easy recommend.

A lot of fun. Very easy to jump into. Plays very smoothly on the Steam Deck. So far 0 complaints, and with the price it's a no miss. I don't know if there were a ton of updates before this, but super appreciate a playthrough with no issues.

Absolutely beautiful game, characters with lots of personality in design and dialogue, and so far runs like a dream on the Steam Deck. Looking forward to the rest of my play through. For now, an easy recommend.

A lot of fun and challenges from the beginning to the end of this one. Unbelievable that this is so well done, music, diversity of enemies, even practice mode for all of the stages that you can decide how powered up you would like to be, and for such a manageable price. It's a great game for vets of the genre as well as being welcoming to folks who are new to the genre. The only thing that would make it better is accessibility on the Steam Deck, but a very, very easy recommend.

Really fun game that makes it manageable to quickly learn enough to play in versus mode. Controls are very responsive. Characters, music, ambiance, and backgrounds are all very solid, and the special moves are creative and creepy in a good way. Love the after win celebrations. Rarely have I played a game where nearly every moment pulls you in, feels fair, and is enjoyable, but this one is.

This is a beautiful vertical shmup with plenty of challenge, especially on later levels and later bosses. With Joytokey wasn't to tricky to set up key binding. Controls are very tight. Sometimes hard to avoid enemies running into you like on the last level some trickiness to the last couple bosses, but overall I strongly recommend this game. Wish there was more posted gameplay and runs.

The art style of this game is unique and beautiful, and the soundtrack is next level good. Things can get a bit crowded, but if you go into options and turn of screen shake and a couple other things the bullets will be pretty clear in front of you. It's clear that the dev put a lot of heart and soul into this one.

Would like more than one life to fight bosses as it does get crowded at times, but this game does reward effort and persistence as all good shmups do. As someone who loves shmups, we need all the innovation and effort we can get, and for that I applaud all of the time, effort, and risk this dev put into creating something exciting and nuanced. Pew!! Pew!! Pew!!

Cannonship is a side scrolling horizontal shoot em up of the gradius variety. The pixel art and enemy diversity offers a lot. However, the ship is woefully underpowered and slow, there are few hp power ups on each stage and no weapon power ups. You can upgrade your ship in between stages, but you may not have much gold as this game requires a lot of dodging and surviving and replenishing health means not being able to better any of the other stats which becomes a major problem in later stages. Your health does not reup after completing a stage nor after a continue, and there is only one continue.

All of this matters because a game that starts out gently quickly becomes one filled with bullets and some enemies that take multiple shots. Getting to the menu and even knowing when your game is over is challenged by how fast the game moves in and out of menus if you are holding the shoot button during a stage at which you die. All that said, I know that this is a first offering from this developer, who has made quite a beautiful game. You could probably complete it with a lot of level memorization and exactly the right upgrades.

More continues (true continues), a shield option, replenishing life at the completion of a stage instead of requiring 30 gold at the end, and a slightly faster and more powerful ship would make this game a must buy. Until then, if you like an old school arcade game that is pretty unforgiving and very beautifully crafted, then this is your game.
