In terms of Japan simulators, this is up there with the likes of Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami 1, Yakuza Kiwami 2, Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, maybe even Yakuza 5. With visuals reminiscent of your grandfather's record album, and gameplay similar to Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, you too could experience the daily life of John Persona as he figures out how to talk to girls. You start with the social aptitude of a pet rock and slowly, through mopping floors and showering like an actual human, become bearable enough for humans of the opposite gender to be in the presence of. Your adventure starts with you casually tripping a bald man. Good thing too because he deserves it for his lack of follicles. You are then tasked with completing a deck of cards through social manipulation. Throughout the story you may find that the real Identity V: Sovereign was the friends we made a long the way.

Look, long story short, this is a phenomenal game. I've been a big fan of the wider SMT franchise for a while now and am so very happy to finally get my hands on Persona 5: Royal since I couldn't justify buying an entire console for only one game. The visuals are popping, the soundtrack is bopping, and my protagonist is mopping. What more could I want. I love the quality of life upgrades from the previous entries, I love how the game is visually more detailed, and I love all the characters in this entry. That last bit I do want to touch on too. In P4:G, Two characters in the main cast I found to be unbearable. This time around, all of them are interesting and add quite a bit to the story. The only character I find to be "annoying" is Morgana, and I even love him. (I just wish he would let me go outside when I want to) It's a good plot full of twists and turns. The personas pay homage to the past ones with the ability to summon other protag's personas from previous entries. Overall, it's a great game. I wouldn't mind at all paying the full price, although if it's on sale and you want it, that's just the cherry on top. Even though I think my favorite of the Persona series is still Persona 4: Golden (Which that game is on Steam too, and for cheaper so check that one out if you don't want to spend as much and play the best game in the series) this game is well-worth your money and your time. 10/10.
