i love this game. It still has a good amount of bugs but nothing super game breaking or youtube can't fix. amazing game. Marrying Panam Palmer.

Very steep learning curve. The maps are very intricate and complicated with callouts for every tiny spot. Walls and floors are breachable and you can be shot from all sorts of different angles. But once you get the hang of it, it can be very rewarding to play. Hackers are a problem, but not as much as CSGO. Theres a big update every couple of months which brings a new map/reworked map and new operators to play with. Difficult game to get into, but if you enjoy it, you will like it a lot. I suggest waiting for a free weekend to test it out.

Repetitive gameplay with an endless grind for better loot. One positive is that the repetitive gameplay can be very fun at times, especially with friends. The story is pretty lackluster, especially with the removal of many default planets. You get virtually no actual campaign or backstory to your character unless you buy the expansions. Even with its problems, it is a fun game with a rich universe and amazing planets (Europa). If you have played Divison 2 or Borderlands before, this game might be for you.

play league instead

For the past 9 years no substantial effort has been made by valve to get rid of cheaters and improve toxicity. The company simply does not care about the actual quality of the game. The only updates this game gets is bunch of cases with skins once every year. The fact that people are willing to PAY MONTHLY to play at FACEIT to get away from cheaters and trolls should tell you what a mess this game is at the moment (and has been for a while).

1. Cheaters : game is unplayable without prime, so get ready to spend 15 bucks the moment you get the game or sit in lobbies full of cheaters for 100 hours. After prime, cheating is still rampant. You will get in a game with a cheater at least 1/10 games.

2. Toxicity: After playing League, Siege, Valorant, and Overwatch for 200+ hours each, this game has the worst community out of all of them by far. You will get teamkilled. You will get teamflashed. You will get team mollied. People will go deagle only (not smurfs actual silvers just trolling). People will have cringe names and pictures. The report function has been proven to be completely useless. As a solo que player you will often be matched with 4 stacks who either have 0 comms or kick you randomly. DO NOT PLAY IF YOU DONT HAVE A 3+ STACK. It is not possible to enjoy this game as a solo player.

3. Ranking system: Quite possibly the worst "ranking system" out of all games with ranking systems. You have no idea when you are going to rank up or derank. Sometimes you rank up in a tie while bottom fragging, sometimes you derank after losing 2 in a row, sometimes you don't derank after losing 15 in a row. Its all arbitrary and random. Take the worst part of every ranking system in all competitive games and put it in to one, you get csgo's system. Matchmaking is horrendous as well. In OW, League, Siege, and Val, you literally cannot play against certain ranks above/below you. Apparently this simple concept doesn't apply to csgo as you get the fun experience of playing against whatever rank is queing at the same time as you. As a Silver Elite I have played against LEs, MGEs, GN4s, MG2s, etc etc. If you aren't familiar with the ranks (understandable as the names are completely stupid), this would be like playing against a Plat 3 player as a Bronze 4 in League of Legends. Absolutely unacceptable.

Conclusion: Just don't get this game. Don't spend time on it. Go play Valorant or Siege if you want to play a competitive shooter. Valve has obviously decided that spending more resources on this game is not worth the benefits, as they believe they make enough money from cases and Steam. Not surprising as there have been virtually 0 major updates/gameplay changes other than changing the cost of weapons and adding more useless skins. The playerbase is dwindling. You cannot find a fair lobby after around 10 PM PST. The Esports scene is dead.

I suggest playing Valorant instead. The ranking system is much better, the community is slightly better (no teamkill or vote kick option), and the devs actually communicate with the playerbase daily through reddit and other platforms. As "intrusive" the AntiCheat is, it gets the job done much better than whatever Valve has implemented (or havent) for CSGO. Valorant also gets bi-weekly patches and has a content roadmap system called Episodes & Acts, with each new one bringing in huge updates and improvements to the game.
