Sekiro is a stealth ARPG Adventure game that doesn't know how to be stealthy. The tools it gives you to be stealthy are not stealth items and most encounters want you to be steatlhy but force you into combat. You get pottery shards, which one would assume in a stealth game are used to lure enemies into dark areas to off them. instead they just act like throwing daggers to aggro enemies and more often than not cannot actually be used to sepearte large groups of enemies. Not sure what the dust does, but I am not wasting an action bar slot. As if this isn't bad enough, the core mechanic of the game, the stealth..is f'n tied to the l3 button. O, and when you jump onto a roof while stealthed, do you stay stealthed. Heck no, you immediately come out of stealth and get spotted by enemies.

Speaking of combat, once you unlock certain abilities you will clickly notice how detrimental they are to the fast paced deflecting. For instance, you get a multi target spin attack that requires you to push l1+r1. What you don't realize is that the deflecting is so fast paced that it's nearly impossible to actually use it. More often than not, when you go to use it you will accidentally deflect, getting hit..and when you don't want to use it, you will attack, then try to deflect, and instead do the spin attack and get hit..

There's argument over whether this is a Role Playing Game.
It most definitely is. It's an ARPG.
You may not be able to name your character and there may not be an stats to level up. But you sure as hell gain experience points to buy skills, unlock prosthetic attatcments that you can customize and create builds with and find items that increase your health and restorative item effectiveness.

In the legend of zelda, you don't even gain experience points. You simply collect items and only means of actually "levelling" is to collect heart containers or magic containers..

Sekiro is more of an ARPG than Zelda is essentially.

From software will tell you this is not an ARPG. From software will also tell you that there are hard bosses in Dark Souls 2 and that FUme Knight is the hardest boss in all the souls games. Both these statements are equally ridiculous.

Anyway, asides from the wonky controls and the pseudo wannabe stealth mechanics, game's ok I guess. Would certainly die a lot less if my character actually did what I was telling them to do.

O , speaking of controls, this game actually has full controller support as it doesn't require you to input a name using a keyboard in order to actually advance past the character selection screen. Props on obeying steam works documentation . yay.

"snowy" ya not interested in dumb unicorns popping out of nowhere and using 20+ humanities or w/e just to fight blindly through a mist just to have the npcs die immediately on boss. Ya no ty.

sign up for retroachievements account and buy ps2 version of this game, then wait for achievements for this game to show up.

PC version is junk.
have to use dxwin just to play it.

Never even heard of this game until I was doing my FIVE TIMES DAILY, reading of delistedgames.

If you can't comprehend how sad and pathetic it is that there's a site that often gets updated 5 times a day, and that people are waking up and as part of their daily routine checking this site while making coffee

than that's your issue.

100 games and counting either delisted or set to be delisted in the last year alone.
Most of them digital only with no way to preserve them, even via "other means"

What a sad state this industry is in.

does not include epilogue dlc (only half the game essentially)
garbage unresponsive controls
'controller support" from the early 2000s (push the red a button to jump, push the yellow a button to duck, push 3 to attack etc etc)
no support for modern graphics options (only runs in vsync, no borderless fullscreen/windowed mode for multimonitor support, game constantly minimizes if you stop to interact with your pc in anyway , can't be captured by obs in anything but screen capture putting your security at risk while streaming etc)
Spend $9.99 on this crap version, just to spend additonal money on the ps3 version with the dlc, then emulate on pc and it runs better.

game is fine, in fact it's great.
The fact I forked over an extra $30 for an app to play the soundtrack and artbook, instead of it being in mp3 and pdf as is the norm on this platform..uh..not so much.

Inferior to Genma Onimusha a 20 year old remaster in every way. No point even playing this other than to write this review and get the trading card drops.
