Having played the newer Soulsborne games before DS1, I took the conveniences those games offered for granted. Most importantly, no 1-2min run backs for a majority of boss fights, more bonfires/better bonfire placements, and the ability to fast travel without having to beat half the game. While DS1 is the easiest of the series by far, it still provides enough challenge to be enjoyable.

After playing RE1 and RE0 for my first time, back to back, I can positively say RE0 is far superior in its gameplay and fun factor. RE0 came out just 8 months after RE1 remake, yet it includes many quality of life changes that RE1 lacked. Some of these include:
-Being able to drop items
-Using items on pickup (Inventory space not required if usable)
-Improved gunplay
-Improved camera angles
-Improved controls (especially movement; I played M&K, unsure about controller)
-Ability to scout loot (If you didn't have space for an item, you can interact with it to mark it on the map; dropped items are also marked)

Overall, the game is lacking in comparison to RE0.

Even though I'm giving it a 6/10, I don't think it's a bad game. I'm not someone who enjoys ocean/underwater environments in games, so I found it very boring most of the time. Even with vehicles, the movement speed is extremely slow, so you're constantly spending 5-10 minutes just to reach your destination. There also isn't a real combat system in the game, so all "combat" tools and equipment you make are used to evade or ward off predators. Overall, I would only recommend this game to people who heavily enjoy underwater environments.

This game features dynamic combat with over 100 spells and relics, allowing for a multitude of unique builds. Though the combat is very fluid and satisfying, the process to unlock many of the fun arcana is tedious. Chaos arcana, which are some of the most fun and unique spells, can only be unlocked once per final boss completion (or twice if you loop the run). Additionally, other arcana are unlocked through a random shop, so if you enjoyed using a specific non-boss spell during a run, you wouldn't be able to use it in your starting loadout unless it appears by chance. Due to the game's limited replayability, I would only recommend purchasing it if it's on sale.
