Surprisingly fun!!! it suffers from a lot of poor character writing and the first half is an absolute slog to get through but when it works its pretty good. I'm really mixed on the main character because I think her design is really well done (as is all the art in the game) but even compared to the first game she doesn't speak like an actual human being, it's just niche reference after niche reference even if some of them are appreciated. Some of the more "detective" moments are where her character really shines as a quick-witted vampire. It unfortunately lacks a lot of the charm of the first ones side missions and is overall a lesser experience but having two endings is nice even if for some reason (ending spoilers) the good ending is just utterly destroying her life for power.

Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl is a really interesting and unique game despite all it's flaws. The blend of survival horror, strategic shooter, and a little bit of an rpg element really shine in this game. The shootouts are tense and erratic for most of the game and the zone's atmosphere is dreadful but the best parts of this game are when you're underground. The horror belongs in these creepy, damp, and barren areas, and I think just about every "monster" moment was terrifying. They aren't used often but the first time an invisible creature just barely passes by you and you have to question if you had actually seen anything will forever be implanted in my brain. These moments are what make this game so good and despite the enemy AI being put together with sticks and stones and the game is slapped together with duct tape, the systems in this game keep it interesting and fresh. Which brings me to my biggest complaint about SOC; the story. Although the zone as a whole will fill the player with a sense of curiousness, the story will only add more questions then it actually answers, even with the "true" path. There's so much set up but you gain so little information about the factions and the world and even yourself. I was so confused if the twist was actually a twist that I had to look it up just to double check I was right. Luckily the story is simple enough and you're so preoccupied with what's happening you probably will forget half the mission objectives. The worst contender though is the ending, (spoiler stuff) it's really cool that there's so many different endings and they are fun to get but also they are based on really specific things so most players will end up with the "rich" ending which felt a bit out of place considering I had a fairly normal amount of money. The two true endings are a bit more satisfying but are still a bit anti-climatic and once again slightly incoherent. One of them sees you having to battle through the WORST area in the game. It's just an enemy dump till the game decides you're done and then it just ends?? It's not even particularly difficult it's just not fun to go through especially wearing the armor that stunts your run. Despite that I think that the ending cutscene is interesting it's just the pain to get there it really isn't worth it. I know I've complained a lot about this game but I really do love it and I think it's worth experiencing, even the bad stuff. There's a lot of charm and ambition here even if some of it is untapped. I'm excited to play the other games and see how this team expands on their story-telling and gameplay. 8/10 :3

(spoilers!!) I'm really mixed on my feelings when it comes to fallout 2, on one hand it's an incredibly unique and mostly well written RPG. On the other hand It's also a frustrating and buggy experience that leaves you feeling both exhausted and bored. It's important to mention that I am not an experienced fallout player nor do I have enough knowledge of this genre to have made the "perfect build" so my time with this game is from that bases and may differ on a new playthrough. Most of my issues with this game relate to a lot of the combat and how repetitive the special encounters can be when they aren't of something important. I had made a sort of small guns/melee build but made some poor s.p.e.c.i.a.l choices that made fights a lot harder than they really needed to be. None the less even when I was in a position of physical superiority to the enemies in this game it still feels so slow and bloated to a point that it becomes tiring by the end game. There are moments where it can be a lot of fun to have you and your companions beat up specific bosses/enemies but there's so much downtime between turns and your companions love to make the stupidest decisions within combat. I spent a large portion of this game with Tulik, Marcus, and galas (I forget his name.) All of which are really interesting and entertaining characters with a lot of personality but even with the ability to change how they fight in combat most of them can't be turned away from combat, so when you're face to face with an overpowering challenge you will most likely be forced to reload a save if your companions die, because they will, a lot. I was spending so much time just trying to keep my companions alive that at some point I wasn't even really worried about my own health. Which in itself is both a compliment and a criticism to this game. After having played 3, new vegas, and 4 all of which have very overpowered companions who are immortal, (save for 3) it was a nice breath of fresh air to actually have to commit to a team and scrounge for the resources to keep them afloat and alive. This can become tiring and annoying by the end points of the game but from a new player's perspective it does slowly start to piece together what this game is going for. Now that I've confidently complained and complained about the combat I'm surprised to say how much I enjoyed wondering the wastes and finding silly little special encounters and discovering entire new towns off the beaten path. There's just so much going on in each town and they all have their own politics, rules, and lore that keep them all interesting. Even if some of them feel a little out of place (like when there's literal mobsters) but the dark comedy of it all keeps it together and adds to the charm of a bleak california. My personal favorites are both The Den and Vault City. They are drastically different from eachother but both equally commit their own inherit injustice. You have so many options and solutions in this game that it's hard not to feel compelled by each town's charm, it warms the inner FNV fangirl that will forever embody me. I mean entering New Reno for the first time and seeing how distraught and chaotic it is will forever be a core memory of this game and how horrifying people can be to other people. On that note the main story is... great at times and a bit forgettable at others, the pacing is all over the place and the enclave really aren't all that interesting. It adds a level of humor due to how unbelievably dumb the enclave are but there's just not enough time with them to leave a lasting impression outside of being insta-killed by a guy with a minigun. The president gives some interesting ideology to them and of course the iconic Richard Hoorigan is an impactful figure but it's really nothing comparde to how ominous and charismatic the Master was. Quick side note I had actually gotten stuck in the final cut-scene because it would crash every single time that I tried to finish the game, leaving me to have to look up the ending which left a bad taste in my mouth. The game is riddled with bugs and can make a lot of moments extremely frustrating, like said crash. Yet I still think this is a really important gaming experience, flaws and all. Despite the bad often overshadowing the good I think the moments that are good in this game are so close to being perfect that it makes up so many of my issues and a lot like how I felt about KOTOR 2 it's still worth your time especially if you love old-school RPG's. It's difficult and exhausting but it leaves you with a different outlook on these games.
