This game is amazing. It's very fun to manage a cult and make it my own.

I mainly wanted to leave a review to point out some quality of life things and one thing that is pretty desperately needed. What bothers me the most is that you should NOT have to go to each follower, go inside the interact menu, then have to back out of the 2 menus just to see if you've blessed and extorted it or not. That is basic information that should be shown above the level bar of each follower.
There absolutely NEEDS to be a system so that you can choose which follower eats which meal. I saw a streamer trying to feed an elderly follower the killer dish, and someone else randomly came up and ate it and died instead. I had a similar problem in my run too.
Also I'd say the cursor should definitely be hidden off the screen if you're not using it for more than a few seconds.

I would love for the blessing and extorting to be straight up bound to keys to do without even having to go into an interact menu. That would take away a lot of the tedium of having to specifically go to every single follower and go into a menu twice per follower.

I also have to note that the later devotion rewards to research seem to be somewhat useless compared to the ones before in the really early game. Like an outhouse is a total game changer, but being able to have followers clean up messes is basically completely pointless after you've gotten the outside, which was much earlier in the tree...

Anyways keep up the good work on this game, it was a massive surprise to see a game this good come out of nowhere!

If I reviewed this game a few months ago, I would say it's pretty dang good, but could use some more quality of life and feels like it's missing some vital features like a map for example.
But this new build is unplayable (and i'm reviewing how the default survivor experience is here) as zombies are WAY too broken op in almost every way. For one, they hear you and then suddenly pinpoint your location, and then continue on to chase you for ages, all from off screen. Often times I will have not even made a sound, and then I'll see a small HORDE OF ZOMBIES coming STRAIGHT FOR ME for literally no reason! This kind of stuff infuriates me beyond reason, and is only like half of the MAIN problem with build 41/the current official zomboid.
Also zombies are WAY too alert, and it genuinely feels like they have way beyond unrealistic intelligence, as they are always expecting you and constantly looking, meaning they find where you are from WAY too far away from a realistic standing of a LITERAL ROTTING CORPSE. Then of course they also have MUCH too good pathfinding for what a zombie should be able to think of (which is nothing). It's not realistic even whatsoever for a zombie to see you through a window and then remember which direction you moved to get out of the view, and be ready for you, randomly stop banging on anything, and chase you instead from still insanely unrealistic ranges. On the subject of zombies banging on objects, they should NOT be able to hear you SNEAKING BEHIND THEM even if they're not banging on objects if you're literally across the room. Again zombies should not be expecting you whatsoever as they don't have the brain power to even think of someone trying to sneak up on them.

So to sum up the whole broken op zombie thing, the developers did a terrible job on making zombies due to doing way too good programming on them. They're not supposed to be good guys, zombies are supposed to have bad or sloppy programming! Or at least they should be programmed to be bad... Build 40's zombies are AMAZING though, I tried build 40 again after a while and was freaking out at how the zombies were A MILLION TIMES more realistic and possible to sneak around. I tried build 40 and it was a breath of fresh air to escape the suffocating build 41 unfair zombies.

Now you might say "Oh Johnsir just go play build 40 then!" Yeah... I tried, but now after seeing build 41 I KNOW what those features that felt like it needed were, and boy does it need them. Build 40 needs towing, it NEEDS that global map thing, and also the rain could use a bit of a nerf as it's a #1 killer for me so far (I died when I first tried build 40 again from literally just rain making me blind and soaking me, forcing me to run into a horde of zombies when i was cornered and didn't see them).

I might go fiddle around with the settings and try build 41 with the zombies being as close to build 40 zombies as possible, but I HIGHLY doubt the settings even have the options to offset how broken they are right now nearly enough to make the build playable.

Story time!
When build 41 was in beta I ignored it for a good while, but I decided I'd try it eventually. I was so miserable with it that I quit project zomboid (I thought at the time) FOR GOOD. I couldn't stand the thought of being an extremely unrealistically clunky slow guy who could barely control his body, and having zombies walk up on me for not seemingly, but LITERALLY NO REASON made me lose my mind. I only came back because I figured the developers would've fixed these problems and at least SOME of the many others I didn't even mention here, and I was very disappointed.
This build is not ready for use, and now that it's out I know build 40 ain't gonna get the touch-ups it needs to be a standalone version, I legit don't know how I'm supposed to get by without a map, and always had that problem when I played before I even knew about build 41's beta. Please just add that map feature at the very least to build 40, and towing too if you could! But mainly please just fix your new build! I genuinely am so upset that nobody I talk to who plays this build seems to notice these issues, I would have to guess that most of them have never played build 40 and also have no bloody clue what realism is.

I usually don't like to review games when it's this early, but this review is pretty important to put out early as the stuff I will be talking about is... well, early in the game.

This game is exceptionally more entertaining than I originally thought it would be, and I loved how the tutorial didn't literally hold your hand and baby you through it. But there are some problems I'd like to see addressed.

The game never actually tells you how to throw spears for example, or how to use the toolbelt, which are both pretty vital aspects to know about. I literally looked on a wiki to find out how to use a toolbelt, and was completely shocked at how there's no way I could've guessed something so random is what bound items to the hotbar. It should either be obvious, or told in the tutorial how you do basic controls in the game, and even now I'm not sure if the container inventory system is just really awkward, or I just don't have a clue what the proper controls are.

A HUGE issue that even ruins a lot of my enjoyment of the game is just that the toolbelt and hotbar system is the absolute worst I have ever seen. I tried using the toolbelt, by binding some tools to it, and I STILL had to have them in my inventory, and on top of that, if I dropped the tool, it got unbound! This is absolutely unacceptable and would take off at least 4 out of 10 points on this game instantly, if I were rating it 1-10.

I am genuinely extremely angry and frustrated about just how bad the hotbar system is. If you're gonna have me have to rebind an item EVERY TIME I drop it, then you have to make it be STORED in the hotbar slot, and not wasting my precious inventory slots! And if you're gonna have it the other way around, where it isn't stored in my hotbar, then don't make it EVER get unbound unless I PERSONALLY unbind it or bind something else to that slot. You can't have it be literally BOTH of the negatives of each side, it completely ruins almost every part of the gameplay and any chance of being efficient without jumping through so many hoops.
This mega issue is literally something I would talk to a friend about like "imagine if the developers made it like this, that would be so stupid", and laugh about, so the fact that it's actually done like this is almost too painful for me to even put into words. Until this absolute roadblock of horrifying pain is fixed, I won't enjoy this game even a third as much as I would if it was done correctly, and will mostly avoid using the hotbar (or toolbelt) at all.

So then the other thing I just now noticed that seriously needs to be addressed for obvious reasons, is that multiplayer needs to have chat. I get if you want a game to have the kind of multiplayer where you are in a call with a friend or something, but you can't just not have a proper form of chat in the public multiplayer gameplay.

I do recommend trying this game's singleplayer, but the multiplayer should be limited to playing with people via a discord call for example, or you get quite the risk of who you're playing with getting upset at you because there's literally no communication and misunderstandings are born easily.

This is less of a gameplay review and more of a critical review. I do very much enjoy this game and there's a lot to love about it, but I'm not much good at writing reviews about the things that are already good in a game. So I'll just say it's pretty dang good for the most part, but needs a touch up on the tutorial, a total overhaul on the hotbar system, and chat for public multiplayer games.

I straight up played this game for almost 6 hours straight immediately after starting it up, and I already knew exactly how I wanted to play after watching a few YouTube videos before I got the game (which is what made me want to get it.) I've always had a huge interest in alchemy, but this game just takes it to the next level in complexity and care. Like I never thought making potions could've called for an extreme attention to detail, and even careful planning when you're trying to figure out how to get to a far potion. The recipe book is extremely well done, and all the little details when making potions look so beautiful and clean.

Potion Craft is an amazing alchemy + shop simulator that I never expected to be as intense as it was. I'm loving it so far and I think it's a really good game. Hopefully more content gets added before I do everything there is to do, or there's some endless type of situation if the content runs out.

This game is both extremely challenging and fun at the same time. Living in a city or town lets you choose from many more tasks to do than if you were one of the first born of a generation, but in the later generations, food loses all value other than the bonus bars it gives that adds up each different food you eat.

There are always tasks that need to be done, and most people don't even know what they're doing, so you can literally just start doing anything and act like you know what's going on without being suspicious or anything, which is pretty awesome.

This game has an extremely steep learning curve, so it's best to try and get your mother to teach you a basic task (like farming) and master that before branching out into harder stuff, such as cooking bean burritos.

Every time I get old and am about to die, I actually get sad, because it was literally like I got to live a different life. Then I can just start again, and only take an hour of my time to go through an entire new life in the same village, and continue what I was working on, which is awesome.

It would be really nice though if there was a bit more information on the controls, as it doesn't even tell you the most important one on the main menu, which is that holding space keeps the camera still, allowing you to do a ton of actions WAY FASTER than if the camera was constantly moving around.

Side notes:
The community inside the actual game is pretty awesome, but DO NOT join their discord, the community is extremely toxic, overly judging, and unforgiving of anything, and the staff are basically completely corrupt.

Several people were threatening to get a ton of people to spam curse me just because ONE TIME I lead a bear into a village when I was being bullied by most of the people there and had to defend myself to avoid dying a horrible death.
And then shortly afterwards the staff believed the (basically) leader of the toxic people when he said I was threatening him in real life, and random banned me, which was so fricking stupid and scummy that I couldn't bring myself to play the game again for about a YEAR, not to mention I was at risk of basically losing my account and probably would've if I hadn't disappeared.

This game is VERY unique, safe, and fun. It has many aspects from games that I've played before put together. You have to actually work hard to make good gear, and it has a lot of options to do once you discover them. Like farming, taming, and even cooking. It also has an excellent inventory system, a bit hard to figure it out at first though. I just wish more people would play this, but it's still quite fun playing alone.

I just recently completed the game, like 5 minutes ago. This game is really fun, I enjoy the challenge.

In the late campaign I was completely unstoppable as I happen to be really good at survival games, but I bet anyone can do the same.

I was a bit disappointed by a couple things, such as when you choose the other dog, daisy, it just calls her aesop, and I think that wouldn't even be such a hard fix. Also I lost some progress multiple times by getting stuck in animations.

But other than that I highly enjoyed the gameplay and had a blast with the campaign. I can't wait to start doing endless mode and see if I can survive forever.

This game is AMAZING, it's one of the most unique games I've ever seen in my life. And it's very brutal, which is something I also enjoy about it. Rain world will challenge you in many ways, sometimes it may be total bull and you just die, but that's just how it works in rain world, just try and try again and you can make it eventually. I have been possible obsessed with this game for about 5 days after I bought it.

This game is quite fun, it's one of those games where it's best if you just go crazy and attack everything. It's nice to be able to jump into a game and just mess around, and the multiplayer makes it even more fun.

This game is the biggest free game I've ever found on steam. It's not just big because of the amount of processing power it needs, but also it has TONS of content AND mods that can be added to the gameplay. It has so many things you can do in it, that I literally get overwhelmed, and even yet it's still a survival game where you can die quickly if you don't get food and water from any place you can. Every server is pretty much like an entire different world, with all the different mods or settings they have on it. I highly recommend this game to anyone who has a PC powerful enough to play this game.
