Early Access Review
Well after 3 years, was it worth the wait?
Well, let's get started with what I liked: The stock system being revamped is really cool and I especially love how Duna and Tylo look; they look more like the real Mars and a mix of Callisto and Ganymede respectively. The Mun actually looks pretty now instead of some ugly mess of craters. The new Kerbal models and see through windows are also really cool; the kerbals look wayyyy more expressive, diverse and animated than their KSP1 counterparts (without mods of course) and some of the new parts look really nice too. Having waterfall/realistic plumes in the stock game helps too. The new KSC also looks nice as does the soundtrack (gorgeous btw) and new tutorials. That being said...there are downsides.
Firstly, peformance: My god the FPS is abysmal. Looking at kerbin, my FPS plummets down to 15fps whilst looking up into space jumps it to 40-60fps. And whilst the parts do look good, they're just the KSP1 flair which you can get via mods. The inability to have custom flags at the moment is also a slight pet peeve of mine: KSP1 had the ability to custom flags from the getgo when flags were added in 0.20, that was nearly a decade ago! Also, the removal of QOL features from KSP1 were downright unnecessary. For example, removing autostrut happens to be one of the most pointless decisions in the history of decisions; making your ships wobble to pieces without a billion struts isn't nice. We also have bugs such as the map view having planets go invisible for a few seconds when you click on them, Kerbals walking on parts during on-orbit EVAs and floating on celestial bodies on EVA. As for the changes, well changing some of the VAB/VHB controls is straight up pointless. I'd rather use scroll wheel than scroll + mouse up as it's really counter intuitive. Whilst do appreciate many things KSP2 brings new, the new things it brings thus are actually not that much and can be easily added with mods. This clearly needed more time in the oven before it went early access and I am sure many will agree with me. Whilst i do like KSP2 in general, this clearly isn't worth the £40+ I paid for. If you want to buy KSP2, I suggest you wait until later down the line when more of the stuff is ironed out and more features are added.

23/5/2024 UPDATE: As a result of the layoffs and the radio-silence from TakeTwo or Private Divison, I can safely say the both the players and dev team have been scammed out of our money and their time. Biggest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rugpull of all time.

The parts are garbage (mostly) and the wheels suck more than anything.
