Dark Souls II follows the form set forth by Demon souls and Dark souls giving players a challenging immersive game that gives you a sense of achievement for each victory. That being said, the game feels more unfair in terms of difficult than its other iterations (Demon, Dark souls 1 & 3) with cheap deaths or overpowered enemies early on in the game. This does detract from the game's enjoyment and if I was a beginner this would be very off-putting. The visual fidelity does not seem as good as the games that came before or after it, however that may be a symptom of its goal to reach 60fps on last gen consoles. Those flaws notwithstanding, it is a very fun game.

While I do not recommend this game for a beginner to the series, it is a good addition to the series.
