I have played this game for 2 years almost both as killer and survivor and these are my thoughts on the game.
While it does offer many iconic horror movie characters, which are very well designed and what led me to buying the game, I'd say I wasted my money

This game has a ♥♥♥♥ ton of issues, glitched, balance related, game design etc. Allow me to list them :
- This game has one of the most spoiled and entitled communities I've ever seen, especially the survivors in this game. People love to complain about everything and anything. Sometimes valid but other times completely over the top. Killers recently received a buff, which many have agreed to be balanced, yet you will still find many survivors complaining and using that 1 and only killer sided update in YEARS to invalidate your point. And ofc you have the 'Killer Mains' and 'Survivor Mains' insults.
- One side completely controls the experience of the other side, both killer and survivor. You can often find yourself in situations where there is nothing you can do as killer and likewise as a survivor, which turns victorious moments from "Yes I won!" to "Finally it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ over". You can be absolutely destroyed by a killer like The Nurse and there is nothing you can do about it, many killer perks have had to be reworked just because they made this killer impossible to play against for example, which is down right sad.
- There are SO MANY HACKERS IN THIS GAME. It is literally plagued by hackers, especially at higher level. The worst part is, you can have blatant hackers who do not hide it at all and subtle hackers who do hide it. This is bad enough, but given that there are so many busted perks that give unfair advantages for one side it brings you to situations where you wonder if they are really hacking or perhaps just using some kind of busted perk combo that you just haven't thought of. Speaking of perks, one of the key aspects of playing Killer is being able to see survivors in the loadout and judge, strategise and whatnot. However, because of there being so many perks in the game, plenty of which are overpowered, you are unable to make an accurate judgement and can never be sure how to play until it's often already too late. There is no way to tell what the other side can do anymore, it's a guessing game and you're expected to strategise around it.
- The devs care only about money, nothing else. I have often found many community members who have better ideas than the actual devs, but this is subjective. On an objective POV, the fact is that the devs DO NOT CARE about this game's health and it shows. They do nothing to fix the game's issues. They don't tweek the balance of the game, they don't do anything to stop people from cheating, they don't listen to the community and what it wants. They also despise criticisms. A streamer, who publicizes their game, made criticisms towards some decisions and statements and later the devs took away his skin because of that. It's not so much about the cosmetic, but about the spiteness of the devs. Absolutely pathetic and without a care in the world. These are also the same people who expect you to pay for DLCs and cosmetics, something which they think they do not make enough of. On a more positive note, the art team always does a great job when designing characters as they always feel right and very loyal to the source material, even character's who are not that loyal still stand out as good (For example, The Ghostface killer)
- This game is very poorly programmed, even the devs have said so themselves. This not only leads to bugs and whatnot, but also prevent the game from having basic things that many other games do such as a match history or replay system. Ofc these are just conveniences that would be nice to have, but given that the game requires VIDEO PROOF to get a cheater banned it is kind of contradicting isn't it? Good luck to anyone who isn't a streamer.

I can honestly say that the only thing holding it together are the iconic licenses that the devs have gotten, nothing else. It absolutely puzzles me that this game is somehow the leading game in the asymmetrical horror genre. It is very undeserving of that honor imo.
