Memes as a source of comedy are slowly dying. Ever notice the last time a so-called "normie" meme has ever taken the internet by storm? Arguably the last ones to exist were DatBoi, Spongegar, and Harambe. Ever notice any memes to take hold that had the same fame as those 3? No. The normies are losing memes to hold on to. This doesn't mean that memes are evolving; but dying. It starts in the higher levels, "popular memes". Once those die it will slowly reach further down the line. Eventually, memers that mock humor with an outside perspective will be left with nothing, and hence, memes will cease to exist. Soon memes will be a memory. The ironic memers will try to reach into abstractness to the point they'll tire their own humor as they can go no further than a certain point. They will reach irony so far that they will consider blank images humorous, and once this happens, memes will perish. No amount of irony can save a dying form of comedy, as they will be the last ones to hold on.
