So this is just my personal opinion but I guess some people will agree with me.

The We Were Here series is one of my favourite game series and in my opinion it deserves way more popularity than it has now.Unfortunately I didn't get to play the second game in the series but I got to play the first one and We Were Here Together.I can say that there was a lot of improvement in the graphics, the storytelling, the enviroments and the length of the game compared to the first game but there were a few things that I had high expectations for and was quite disappointed.

First of all the puzzles. The puzzles in this game have little (if not any at all) improvement from the first game. The puzzles were not that hard and I found the puzzles in chapter 7 kind of stupid except for the ladder one.Now this might just be us but it took us 5 hours to get past the barrels puzzle,we might have just been brainless but that was almost 50% of our playtime.I also found the poison puzzle extremely simple and time-consuming.On the other hand I found some puzzles quite enjoyable. For example I really liked chapters two, three, six and eight and the other chapters were ok in the puzzle category.

Second of all the small dose of horror from the first game.I really enjoyed the first game and one of the main reasons was the small dose of horror that game had.I loved the part where that creepy marionette slowly approached you in the last puzzle when you were playing as the librarian.Or when you saw those mysterious figures walking in front of you in the maze when you were playing as the explorer. The creepy sounds you heard throughout the game also added to the atmosphere and the cold, dark rooms of the castle really made you feel like there was no salvation. In this game however I never felt even the tiniest bit of horror. The music when there was a timer before one of you died was stressful but that was it.My friend told me that in the fallen sanctuary he could listen to the jester play the piano but I didnt get to experience that myself yet,but still I find the deterioration of the terror that you experienced in the first game a big downgrade from the first game.

Third of all the jester. Now I know this sounds weird but I was really dissapointed with this character. In the announcement trailer it seemed as if the jester was some big part of the game. And even though he was a big part of the game I really did not want him to turn out like this.I would prefer it if instead of hidding his identity from us we straight up knew that somebody locked us in instead of this whole fake rescue thing.Imagine all the various scenes we could have if that was the case, for example him chasing you or running into a room to escape from him and listen to him hitting the door in order to open it and if you failed to complete the puzzle in a certain amount of time he destroyed the door and got in and you lost.Or seeing him creep around the room or if he stalks you during many of the chapters through some kind of window or something like that.Instead we got a jester which is more like a normal jester who is supposed to make people laugh than a villain.I found his model poor for what he is supposed to be and he apparently is also able to use the force from star wars???????The way he put you in the cell was pretty weird and buggy.Despite that good job to the voice actor he did a great job I can't lie.

Lastly, there are some details which I found disturbing.First of all some animations where kind of buggy and still look like the animations from the first game. The are also various small bugs that don't affect gameplay but make the game look kind of unfinished.

Now I don't want to say the game is bad, thats exactly why I recommend it it's a good game and I had a fun time.Everything I mentioned earlier was just what I wanted to see in this game in order for it to be really good and what I want to see in the next game,if there is one.If you read this far then thank you for listening to my opinion and dont hesitate to comment and try to change my mind.

Great co-op puzzle game, really liked the enviroments but why does one guy have to stay back? :(
