Definitely not the same vibe as playing it on Wii. On one hand, little to no issues with controller input as it all uses a keyboard or a game controller other than a Wiimote (which gave me hell more times than i can count)

On the other hand, optimization of this port is SO so bad it hurts. From the moment i booted it up the first time, it looked like a broken CRT monitor and i literally tried everything to fix it. Launch options did jack. Fiddling with the program's compatibility settings changed nothing. I probably would have never found the solution if i didn't try something: use OBS to capture the screen and figure out it was a resolution problem + find where i need to click to change said resolution by watching the playback.

Once that nightmare was over, the next issue was brightness. This game ignores my screen dimming, which i kind of need because of my light sensitivity. Turning Gamma all the way down works in game, but on the menu it doesn't show any change. Not sure why it works that way.

I also noticed difficulties popping up in some of the playset missions that i don't remember having in the Wii version. For example in the Pirates bayou level, a simple side jump had suddenly became a struggle, and weirdly it was because i was jumping at the tail end instead of slightly before it. It's like the level geometry is now slightly off or something.

The good news is, most of the funny glitches are still here, and the fun factor that makes me lose track of time when i play is intact. It's great to have all the characters and power discs at my disposal at any time, just kind of a shame that said discs (and heroes not related to the playset you're in) are only usable in the toy box.

Overall, still addictive as ever to explore, find capsules, throw people into the water, and build as much or as little as you like. But it still has its hiccups.

-READ-

So i mention in the review above that the game displayed flickering and wobbling scanlines on first time boot due to a resolution error, and it may also be intensely bright with the default gamma setting. If this happens to you, i'm going to walk you through how to change the resolution when you can't see the menu properly.

1. Skip the first three intro cutscenes as quickly as possible. Hit enter, and when you hear the Infinity theme track play you'll know you're on the main menu screen. Hit enter again.
2. Move your cursor. Soon as you notice the trail moving with your mouse movements, keep track of it like you would a normal cursor. You'll also see menu buttons highlighted in blue when you hover over them. Since the first menu consists of:

Play Sets
The Toy Box
Virtual Base
Options
Exit Disney Infinity

Move the cursor down from the first highlighted button until you see the fourth button. Click that.
3. "Change Resolution" is the third button in the second menu. Once again hover over the topmost button, and then down until you highlight the third button.
4. At this point, you'll have to experiment with which resolution will work. Whichever you currently have selected will have a green trail (circle) next to it.
5. If you can now see the screen as it is meant to be displayed, great! Exit and go back to Options, and then go to Audio/Video to adjust the Gamma. I prefer to have it all the way down. Note that you can see the Gamma go down if you change the setting in game, but you won't see it change on the main menu. There's sadly no way to turn off motion blur, so please be cautious of making any quick, jerky movements when you're playing.

Side note, you're probably going to be alt-tabbing a bunch to escape the painful visuals, and i don't blame you. Since the game is fortunately kind about alt-tabbing, please do that inbetween hovering over buttons or clicking on them. For your own sake.

Well, i was going to wait until i had a more intricate review to write for this game, but i can always update this after the Steam Awards is over.

I'm nominating this one for the "Labor Of Love" award, in anticipation of Journey's End of course. Plus, you always feel like you're discovering something new every time you play this.

Lacking so much content that could make it a full DLC. What you DO get is nice, But NOT worth a full 19.99.

I'm lucky to have grabbed it during the Summer Sale.

Originally i was not impressed with this game. I'd been a prominant user of Source FilmMaker beforehand and i greatly appreciated it for being easy to use once i knew what did what, And having lots of options in case something went wrong. Move someone's arm the wrong way? Undo-able. And placing things into a scene is a breeze.

Taking a test run at Garry's Mod and being stripped of some abilities i had in SFM initially frustrated me so much that i uninstalled the game, Vowing never to touch it again. I felt disappointed that i couldn't get something cool to happen like everyone else did.

Finally one day, I came back after i got tired of the SFM community (Not enough workshop items for what i wanted to do) and decided to fool around more. Maybe i just took it too seriously, I thought; I've only scratched the surface of what it had to offer. Sure enough i was right...

While G-mod still has its share of drawbacks, Its unique elements for game-making adds an even deeper art experience. There's a certain freedom not seen in SFM. I've come to love both equally, But i now also consider the impact G-mod has had on the gaming community since the beginning. It should be given its due, And perhaps, A try-out on your own dime.

I give Garry's Mod a 7/10.

One more thing to note: If you decide G-mod is a keeper, You might want to hit the workshop early on. You'll deplete your spawnlist of new items over time, So it's good to keep adding to it and keeping your playtimes fresh. Needless to say, Lots of the community items are FANTASTIC.
