A game which I well and truly enjoyed from beginning to end.

Lies of P introduces a few mechanics as well as it tweaks a few pre-existing formulas to further its own identity, while still pertaining that good ol' souls-like-feel, which we've all come and love!

The most prominent of these said mechanics which are introduced, is the weapon-combining-system in place. it divides each weapon into a hilt as well as a blade. This in turn allows players to freely mix n' match between all possible combinations and (hopefully) arrive at one which fits their own platstyle/identity. Not only does this set the stage for a lot of very powerful combinations (which all feel equally amazing to stumble upon), but it also allows players to more accurately switch up their playstyle, reducing the chances of feeling bored and/or tired of the combat, specifically.

Apart from this aparrent additon to the game, it also chooses to lean more-so towards parry-focused gameplay, introducing mechanics such as "guard-regain" and equipping our character with a more faulty dodge than normal; all to further incentivese playing around the parry. The game also throws in a "twist" on the flask-system - or rather, an additon, which I found to be an extremely ingenious one at that. It's the possibility of a flask charge recharging when dealing damage/parrying, after having expended all of your charges. This leads to many encounters where you're in a form of "final stand", and are able to clutch through bosses, among others.

I also heavily appreciate the fact that there are next to no run-backs from boss rooms after death, since that's always been a big pet-peeve of mine (and many others). The game respects your time, and wants you back in action as soon as possible.

The music is also something that the game needs to be commended for. It's truly a stunning soundtrack, and I would often find myself getting excited stumbling upon a new disc, to then
play at the hotel (which I promtly returned to upon said discovery).

However... please get this absolute piece of travesty of a cube out of my game!!!! It adds abolutely nothing, and its benefits are far too small to change anything worth-while; not mentioning the fact that it demands an extreme amount of time to discharge (but don't worry... it can be further upgraded to decrease discharge time.. ;))

All in all, an amazing game with very few faults. A game that succeeds in taking the best aspects of the souls-like genre and managing to offer up its own takes and spins, all to cement it into place as one of the best souls-likes out there right now.
