So.... Where do we start. STALKER 2, here it is.... After 15 years here we have it.

(Disclaimer: This review is written on 21st November 2024, aka the DAY 0 version of the game. What i might mention might have changed depending on when you are reading it)

Lets start with the good parts

Atmosphere: MY GOD its amazing. Simply pure desolation and hopelessness but also the warmth of hope combined into this one atmosphere. GSC has done amazing.

Gameplay: Its your standart STALKER gameplay but harder and modernized. You can definetly feel that the game was built ontop of what the OG trilogy had. Difficulties are now more harder, as of writing i have 27 deaths and progressing through The Garbage on Veteran difficulty.

Story: So far it looks and feels great but i have to experience it more.

Now to the a bit problematic parts.

Performance: Yes we all know it, Performance is not so great, However i think it will get better in the future, there seems to be a certain memory leak that triggers after a long play session(Again, in DAY 0 version, i cant know if it gets fixed in the future)

Bugs: From my own experience while there are not gamebreaking bugs there certainly are bugs, Especially with A-Life 2.0 where it sometimes spawns NPC's out of thin air or not triggering patrols. Devs have said that they recognize these issues and work on fixing it.

Overall: STALKER 2 is in my opinion the best way to contiune the legacy of the OG Trilogy. The game will only get better in the future and i cant wait to sink in more time into it. My overall score for now would be 8/10 and after the A-Life 2.0 and Performance fixes it might even be 10/10

As of Update 8 "Boys In Blue" i can finally reccomend this game however note that the game is still not perfect and needs time. However i still reccomend getting the game while its on a sale for a better deal. One thing i really want to note here because i have seen alot of misinformation being spread across both Twitter and communities is about Solo Mode.

Solo Mode IS NOT OFFLINE MODE. What Solo mode does is to just skip the matchmaking process and host some of the game functions on your device instead of the servers, It is in an Beta and it is a stepping stone to the Offline mode. You will still need to log in to the game before a session and after a session to record and update your progress.

The game is still recovering from the flaming release it had on September but i can promise, the experience is way better(but not perfect) as of now
