ATTENTION ALL NEW BUYERS!

If you have bought MWR hoping to play the H2M mod, REFUND this immediately. H2M team was hit with a C&D from Activision today and thus the project has been CANCELLED and put on permanent hiatus.

If you still wish to play the game and not refund, the Auoraware H1 client is still available. That will allow you to play MWR on player hosted dedicated servers with the ability to unlock ALL paid DLC weapons / cosmetics. All with added stability fixes, better security, and the ability to play at unlocked FOV / FPS.

This is easily one of the best sandbox games to come out since Garry's Mod. Definitely worth the price.

From what i've played of my 10 hour EA Play trial, I can see the vestige of a great game being brought down by a bunch of corporate suit meddling and blockhead decisions. AKA, the usual EA fare for the past 7-8 years or so.

Portal Mode is fantastic, and as of now it's what I see being the only thing keeping people playing unless the serious changes are made soon. The actual core gamemodes the devs intended you to play are not so hot. Quite literally, the side modes are what carry the game at the moment.

Why yes, I suspect that given 4-6 months, the game will be in a far better state. However that is not a valid excuse. The "Ship it broken, patch it later" mindset is only a crutch. The only reason I think the game shipped now was to capitalize on the holiday season shopping. If DICE and EA truly wanted this game to ship complete, they should've ditched a 2021 release all together and delayed again to Spring 2022.

Do not buy the game right now. Buying now tells EA that you do indeed dont mind paying for a broken buggy mess that's basically a glorified extended beta test. Buy in once they manage to patch the game enough to make it live up to how it should've came day 1.

Halo Infinite is a game I am split on. When it comes to the graphics, gameplay and sandbox I think 343 actually nailed it, making what felt like a refreshing new take on the classic Halo formula. A solid base on which to build an excellent game. The problem is that almost everything else surrounding that base was a bewildering comedy of errors. Falling into basically every modern AAA gaming pitfall.

- Awful monetization (Which makes REQ Packs seem reasonable)

- Armor Cores / Coatings were a net negative for customization (343 spent the games life slowly backtracking it)

- Most updates were just bringing back content from older games instead of anything new

- Yet again 343 heavily relied on Community Forge maps to flesh out the rotation

- "Events" were glorified shop updates with a couple themed maps put into rotation

- Missing game types from past titles (Where is Assault, Juggernaut, VIP, Race, Multi-team, etc?)

- Missing social features from past titles

- Persistent networking bugs that took months and months to be fixed while actively making the MP experience more annoying than it should've been

- Strict SBMM choked out any sense of casual fun and made finding games nearly impossible for anyone outside NA / EU (Unless they use a VPN)

And that's just my gripes with MP. The Campaign also grinds my gears. Anyone who believed in 343's promise of future expansions got scammed out $60 and all they have to show for it is a mediocre story with one of the worst, bare bones "Open world" levels I've had to experience. The replay value on it is near non-existant.

In the end, with 343 more or less cutting the cord for Infinite by the end of 2024 as they move on to the next project, the product we have now is okay. Is it worth checking out now? Sure I'd say so, at least for the MP. But the grueling years of top-to-bottom incompetency it took to get to just "Okay" is inexcusable.

You're better off buying MCC. You'll be getting 20x more bang for your buck compared to Infinite, and you won't feel empty inside after playing it. 343 now has my permanent skepticism, and I will be weary giving them my money ever again.

This game is very fun, and makes me wish that the WW1 setting will be used again in the future, either re-visited by BF, or even taken on by COD. Besides this game every other notable WW1 FPS is a realistic mil-sim, and isn't able to scratch the same fast-paced casual action itch as BF1.

Now more than ever is a good time to jump in. After the free weekend and sale some weeks ago, the playerbase has been revitalized, and now pulls numbers on par with BF4. So there are plenty of new players like myself whom you'll be able to learn and grind out the game with.

Whatever you do though, do NOT play on official DICE servers. DICE no longer keeps tabs on cheaters and does nothing to boot them off anymore. Official servers are basically open season for cheaters. Just play on any of the many community ran servers and you will never have to think about it again.

Besides that, the only other gripe I have is the price. A game this old has no right being sold for almost full price 5 years after launch. However if you catch it on sale like I did, it's totally worth every penny.

This game is great. And really when your only other choice for a WW1 FPS game is Battlefield 1, this is a nice alternative if BF1 wasnt your style. There is the sister game to Verdun, Tannerburg, but that game is even more scarcely populated as this is. So that's effectively off the list.

- What I like -

1. For a Unity engine game it looks very impressive. Goes to show what some decent devs can do if they take full advantage of it's feature set. It is very polished.

2. It really does emulate the scrappy, gritty, tug of war style fighting that WW1 is famous for. So for immersion alone it's a hit with me.

3. The selection of factions is good. French, Canadian, US, British, German, and Polish forces are accounted for here. So being able to utilize all the countries' unique weaponry is sweet.

4. Gunplay in Verdun is precise, polished, and realistic for the most part. If you come here know that 1 shot can and in most cases will kill you. That's lesson #1. It's hardcore, but not the point where even an average FPS player like me can learn and adapt to it's style.

5. Verdun has a bit of a learning curve to it, but once you get the basics down it is really fun. Especially with friends.

- What I do not like -

(All these points stem from the same issue)

1. Verdun has a very small playerbase today. Topping at a few hundred on an average day. So if live outside the US, most likely you'll be stuck playing in servers with 50% bots, and the bots are not really fun to play with or against.

2. A consequence of the low player count is that the main "Territories" gamemode is the only mode in the game that you can find people playing. You will be playing the pool of maps over and over. Atleast the map selection is great, so I can move past that. Kind of like older CoD games where most remaining players will be found on TDM.

3. Since the playerbase is small, I can't recommend Verdun at it's regular $20 dollars. If you are interested, wait until it goes on sale like I did. I got it for $8.99 and I dont regret it at all.

Overall, if you snatch this up on a sale. I guarantee you won't be dissapointed. Verdun is a great game, and a real gem among the scarce WW1 FPS sub-genre. 10/10

This game is a total must play. This is a caliber of mod that is on par with Valve's own work, and in some places goes to the next level. And something like that only happens once in a blue moon. This was all worth the wait, for some they've been waiting 10+ years for the game to take it's final shape.
