If Minecraft or Space Engineers not your thing then you are hard-pressed to find another sandbox game on PC as good as Gmod.

- Endless hours of gameplay just by itself.

- Almost an infinate ammount of addons made by the comunity to change up the experience.

- Even better if you get other Source games like Counter Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, or Team Fortess 2

- Singleplayer not for you then there are 1000's of servers playing 100's of totaly unique gamemodes. Adding even more replay value.

- You can build anything you want in sandbox, the only limit is what your computer can handle.

- Overall just SO much to do very few will ever do it all.

The best way to sum the game is by a quote off the Garry's Mod website.....

"You can't lose, but you definitly can't win"

10/10

This game is great. It mixes the snappy precise gunplay of it's cousin CS Source, mixes in some elements of classes and gametypes akin to Team Fortress, and throws it into a gritty WW2 setting as a cherry on top. This makes for a very fun, challenging, but rewarding experience for those who are willing to learn the mechanics and can think on their feet. Quite easy to hop into, but hard to master. DoD Source really sticks out in the WW2 FPS sub-genre even today.

It really has that unique Valve touch to it, and it's yet to be recreated in the modern age. Commanding a small yet dedicated playerbase to this day. You can still find quite a few populated NA servers as long as you aren't playing late at night. And once you get into a full 32 player server, it's amazing. That nice chill feeling of enjoying the game and chatting it up with the regulars, busting eachothers' chops for fun, it's something that you will not find today.

Just give it a try. The game is cheap, and I promise you won't be disappointed. While you're at it, play on the 6th MRB pub server, tell them PepsiMax sent you. ;)

CSS is old, but gold. IMO it's an HD 1.6, people will try to tell you how different the games are, but the gameplay changes from 1.6 to Source are minimal and are only noticed by seasoned vets. Besides that it's a wonderful upgrade for the classic CS we all know and love.

- Very close, tight-knit community, usualy pretty friendly if you are nice too and cooperate.

- Cheaters are rare, even if you meet one its just the super obvious rage hack types,
and they usualy get banned really quickly.

- No Valve servers, it's 100% Community made and operated.

- So much modding capability, Gamebananna has 1000's of mods, you can really make the
game sound or feel just like how you want it to.

- So many different game modes you can find. DM, Jailbreak, Deathrun, Surf, etc.

- Still very active after 14 years. There are atleast 5000+ players on a good day, so no fear of finding a populated server if you are in US or the EU. Other reigons may vary.

- The game is just plain fun, easy to learn hard to master, great game to play if you wanna chill. You can easily lose time when playing and rack up hours fast. Really has the Valve polish.

My take on Team Fortress 2. 1300 hours sunk into the game over 5 years.

For me, this is the first game i've ever spent so much time, and money on. And i've basically spent all my teenage years playing away the good and bad days in this game. Getting engrossed in the world and characters Valve has carefully crafted over 10 years of development. Making some of my best friends in this little glimmer of my life so far. it's a comfort game for me. Something I can always come back to and have some fun in.

TF2 just oozes with genuine personality, wit, creativity, and soul. Something OW, Palidans, Battleborne, etc, could never have. Those games all hollow. And only smell of corporate suits trying to see what would sell the most copies of a game, and appeal to the broadest demographic possible. Rather than what would actually make an amazing game that keeps people coming back day after day, year after year. Please try it out.

The game really reflects the old school philosophy that Valve had back in the day, before VR took them over, and they would basically leave their biggest IP's left in the dust forever to never be seen again. Before they focused on what would equal top dollar, or how they could further milk the monopoly they have on the digital games market. Before they only became another gaming cooperation following the trends to capitalize on them.

This is the old Valve. When they were mainly focused on making top-tier, well-crafted, quality games that would age like wine, and survive the test of time. When they MADE the trends, instead of following them. When they didn't forsake all the loyal fans they built up over 20 years to make a fantastic flop of a card game. A Valve that is long gone now, and only lives on in the veterens still upkeeping their aging games with their passion.

Do yourself a favor and play this game. You will not regret it. I could write a novel on how this game is so amazing. But words are nothing. You must play it for yourself to truly know.
