I absolutely love this game, and enjoyed every moment of this remake/remaster. Would be the best version of DR1... If it wasn't older than the build they showed off.

There's a sore lack of hats and glasses, as well as the color grading and better lighting seen in the directors report. Some crucial annoyances like the psycho damage scaling is also off. Will change this review once they push the right build.

Possibly one of the worst remasters of all time. Somehow managed to introduce far more bugs than the original, and while most of the higher quality assets are really interesting, one way or another, they stick out like a sore thumb.

Not to mention that there's seemingly a handful of extremely unnecessary changes that feel like the team responsible had no idea what they were doing, and simply just started to change things just to change them. Biggest ones being the random model changes, the weird deliberate decision to change how eye movement works, and completely gimping the otherwise stellar use of the APEX PhysX system from the original title. They even somehow managed to completely leave in a cut location on accident to this day.

The only reason why you should buy this game is to get the classic version included with it, and nothing more. The only leg-up I'd give the remaster are the better assets, and the changing of the original's extremely bloom-heavy post-processing.

A wild ride for a horror game that leaves much to be questioned even after completion. Does a great job of scaring the player without in-your-face jumpscares accompanied by loud sounds. Absolutely phenomenal gameplay, audio, and enemy design that delivers an extremely tense experience.

If you know how to, I'd poke around with learning how to restore EAX for this game. It makes the experience so much more rich. (Also, should probably note that you're gonna want the widescreen fix because it fixes problems specific to the steam version.)

Despite all of the great work put into this mod from a perspective of restoring cut/beta content, the mod as a whole feels entirely like "we're adding this stuff back simply because it was cut and not because it caused problems with gameplay balance."

I cannot recommend this even being worth playing if someone wants something new for a half-life playthrough. While it's a cool idea to restore content, it seems like it's almost nonsensical in the way it's done, with nothing to really balance out some of the MAJOR gameplay changes introduced. Also, some stuff they added in, like the awfully over-done doppler effect by default is just really annoying and unnecessary.

Also, as sort of a pet peeve, the upscaled textures they forced into the game without a real way to disable them (as far as I can recall) irk me.

Had an absolute blast both playthroughs on this game, pre and post-remaster. A must-play for anyone who loves the FPS genre.

Not at all worth it for the price Konami is charging for it non-sale wise, and even then, Isn't worth it on sale either. Horrible broken mess that seemingly was a direct console port. No Alt-Tabbing, broken sound positioning, horrible frame cap, etc.

I recommend you play one of the console versions if you really wanna experience homecoming.

Very promising outlook into the future of Counter-Strike as a whole. Absolutely stunning not only visually, but also performance wise.

As someone who waited multiple years for this project and sat eagerly as 3DR was completely radio silent on this project, I cannot give this game any merits in good faith because of how abysmal this was compared to what was shown and promised years ago.

Even after the great post-launch discount combined with another discount for those who already owned KP, my optimism to see this title improve was cut short in a manner of weeks after seeing how barren each patch was, and how long the wait was for such a minor patch that didn't even address some of the most egregious issues with the title. Even as of writing this, it's been almost 6 months since the last patch, and most of what people complained about still isn't fixed. Not to mention the questionable artstyle changes and suspiciously AI looking "handmade" textures.

Truly a disappointing remaster for a cult classic title that many considered a hidden gem. Sorry for anyone who was eager to see this project and expected a Nightdive level of quality, and sorry to those who were laid off at Slipgate Ironworks after this disastrous launch.

Only COD game in the series currently worth buying on PC due to it's inclusion of all of the map packs for the semi-reasonable price. (Still really high, but ATVI isn't gonna change that.)

Word of advice though, play this on Plutonium. I don't know if the key bug still exists, but save yourself the trouble of wanting to rip your hair out because you spent 4 hours trying to get the game to actually let you make a profile.
