I've always been interested with hunting but never got to try it in real life, with this I can finally do that but virtually. I don't know anything about real hunting but this feels pretty realistic for me, aside from the glowing tracks(you can turn it off though).

This is definitely more fun if you at least get the lodges. Collecting your big catches and rare furs(albino, melanistic, leucistic, piebald) are really where end game is at and so far my best are 2 Diamond Blue Wildebeest(one of them I botched and hit a non-vital organ so technically 1 of them is gold), 1 Diamond Water Buffalo, 1 Diamond Axis Deer and 1 Diamond Albino Brown Bear from the mission in Medved Taiga.
There's the 2019, 2021 or Complete bundle if you really enjoy it and want more reserves as yes it can be pretty boring hunting in the same 2 reserves in the vanilla game and the DLC reserves are way better in my opinion. If you do want to save though, you can just join multiplayer for the DLC reserves BUT you can't change the time for need zones which is very important if you want to be farming for a Diamond as well as not getting the missions which are pretty fun for me as it gives a little bit more life to the game.

All in all, it's definitely one of my favorite games and it's very relaxing as well

One thing though, GIMME DOGGOS EXPANSIVE WORLDS! That would make the game even more fun and have them track(animals like rabbits as they're hard to find in grass) and also retrieve small game(cause you can't swim and have to wait for the ducks to flow towards you)

Absolute garbage, not worth even if you get the definitive edition. Majority of the captains are immune to light and that's the whole deal with Eltariel, you can't even recruit orcs, just story orcs.
The base games is amazing, this is the total opposite.

This is like a dumbed down survival game. Now what do I mean by that is, it's pretty much a survival game but your only objective is to kill or hide, no temperature, no hunger, no resource management(except for your weapons and healing of course) only killing and being the last one alive.

Pros:
It is pretty realistic in the killing aspect, when you don't have armor on, you can be killed with a couple of shots or you can get ran over by someone in a vehicle, get bombarded by the incoming missiles inside the danger zone or you could be punched to death.
There is a huge player base so you'll never be waiting for an eternity for someone to play with(for now anyway)

Cons:
This game is boring, quite more so if you don't have a group or someone to play with. You spend most of your time running around gathering weapons then you can choose to either run guns blazing or stealth through it. For me that is pretty dull gameplay-wise, I don't want to be camping waiting for people and if I go running guns blazing, there's a huge chance I'm dead and that's it, game over. This game is not for everyone especially with casuals is what I'm getting at, if you want to enjoy this, be competitive and that's not the game I'm looking for but if you are competitive, by all means get this game.

With that being said, I refunded this game, I no longer want to play it even if I do get people to play with, it's just too bland for my taste. I'm not sure if they'll be adding anything new to this game as it is Early Access but I've never been so bored with a game that I bought.

I love this game, it gives me the genre I so enjoy. I have no idea why some people don't recommend this just because it didn't live up to the hype or it doesn't stay loyal to the lore. I have to admit I'm not a long time Fallout fan, this is my first Fallout game to play, although I do have FO3 and FONV just because they were really cheap during a sale. With that being said, I have no idea about the lore or the gameplay of previous fallout games, but I do know that the review should only be about the game itself not how great the other game was and this is not.
Great Replayability
As of writing this, I have already played 250hrs, 100+ for both of my characters, for two different factions and a third one for another faction, that alone says a lot, this game has great replayability and I for one am not fond of replaying but this game is an exception. I still jump between them if I want to change roleplay, one is a good guy turned evil who masterminds events he's theInstitute Director , the other is the Minutemen General trying to rebuild civilization so I call it my Emperor roleplay, even though I feel like everybody's mom, I take care of everyone apparently xD and the third one would be a soldier for the BOS. I'm still planning to make more characters for the other factions, for other roleplays.
Voiced Protagonist
So about the roleplay, the voiced protagonist I have to admit is not my cup of tea BUT~! sarcastic choices plus voices really make it fun, and I recently discovered that drinking alcohol will make your skip dialogues be drunk too haha. It's not perfect but it adds life to the character, although having no voice would prove great to hard core roleplayers so I guess this would depend on the player, for me personally, I love hearing my character talk with the sarcastic lines
Exploring
The game gives a lot of incentive to explore around, if you want to discover a story, keep exploring, the end of it will be really rewarding. I used to fast travel a lot but when I found out there's a lot of random encounters and it gives me more exp to just walk around and kill stuff, discover things etc. I started to only fast travel if I'm transferring stuff from a settlement to another or if I'm to lazy to walk to a settlement that's under attack. The map looks really huge and you'd expect yourself to be walking in total silence but you get a lot of encounters which gives the journey a little bit of colour and of course incentive to keep walking.
Combat
I like how creatures will be leveled to you, I had only regular types before but now that Im at a higher level, I get glowing variants and more of those giant creatures and legendary spawn more which is really great, it'll never be too easy. It gets pretty hard if you mess up on the build, you can however fix your build which I did on my first character to respec it, I respeced mine to be a sniper which was the original goal anyway, my second character is pretty great since I already had an idea how to make a build. I'd suggest to focus on a weapon type and build on that then use a secondary support type skillset like scrounger down on luck or go for charm to intimidate enemies, whatever floats your boat.
Crafting
Do you feel like your weapon "hits like a radroach"? If you're answer is yes, it's probably time to upgrade, with the appropriate perk and crafting station, you can make your puny weapon into an annihilator, so the next time that super mutant taunts you, just click and watch as the tomatoes fly everywhere. I really like how I can customize my weapon, although it's not as advertised when they said make it your own, there will still be limitations like on some weapons you can't make it into a rifle but mods fixes those if you want to anyway.
Aside from the weapons, customizing power armor is great, want to make an impression to your enemy that you support a particular faction? Then go and customize it and do a paint job. Parts falling apart quickly? Upgrade them, though prepare for some resources because those things get pretty expensive, I don't know how many times I ran out of aluminum.
Scavenging and Scrapping
One of the features I love with this game is you can pretty much use anything you can pick up. Everything will break down into base components and with those components you can make new things or upgrade your equipments. I always wanted a feature like this in games. I always wondered what if I can recycle my items instead of selling them to a vendor who'll just buy it underpriced. Well this game makes that wish come true. You're companions will constantly mock you for picking up junk though "hey... you know that roof over your head, that bed oh and those crafting stations you love to tinker with... they need components to build so shut up you pack mule" <- would be a great dialogue option xD You can also purchase shipments from vendors but they can cause a lot of money, scavenging for junk is a great way to reduce cap consumption.
Pro Tip: Scavenge heavy weapons like mini guns, unwanted power armor pieces and also sell your surplus of ammo for shipments till you get all of that NPCs caps for the day. Quick and easy cash plus you get supplies for more crafting and building :)
Settlement Building and The Minutemen
I will confess, I actually didn't touch settlement building with my first character which I now see as missing 50% of the fun in this game. Once I started my second character, I fell in love with building. Seeing the settlers do stuff and then also looking at the sites I'd built, it gives me a great sense of accomplishment. Though before anything else, the budget for building is extremely low for my standards in creating structures so I used a mod, which is a great flaw to the game in my opinion. Why give me this vast amount of space if I can barely build anything before hitting the limit.
Anyway, the settlement building is also tied to a faction, if you do a lot of settlements, you can make the weakest faction into the strongest faction. I used to not even want to have anything to do with the minutemen then I found out about the game mechanics for this faction and settlements. So I decided to make my second character, that changed everything, I found a reason to keep getting junk, to get back to my settlements, seeing the bases, and passing through people(on checkpoints if you finished the main story line) calling you "General", it's pretty nice. The faction I wanted to have nothing to do with just became my favourite. True they are pretty weak at the start which is probably why I avoided them but when built up, you have a legit army with artillery as well not to mention if you fortify a lot of settlements, you can just stop over, hang out, sell your gear, just let your character chill for a bit and you the player will be at ease too.
Though the other factions do have intereactions with specific settlements, the RR would be the safehouses, BOS would be the farms for their food supply and the institute on Warwick Homestead for the giant crop

TL;DR
Pros:
  • Great Replayabilty
  • Rewarding Exploration
  • Voiced Protagonist
  • Leveled Enemies
  • Scavenging and Scrapping Feature
  • Crafting
  • Settlement Building
Con:
  • Low Build Budget
