As always, there are 20 levels in this pack. As usual, it's a mixture of images with and without backgrounds.

The educational value of this pack is amazing! That's why I recommend it. Not all the pictures are particularly pretty/visually interesting though, so if you are looking for a visually appealing pack, this isn't one of them.

This game is a sequel to the previous one by these publishers, Prose and Codes, and everything that I said in my review of Prose and Codes also applies to this game - It's a relaxing puzzler of substitution ciphers, good for playing before bedtime, with selectable difficulty levels.

However, there are two major differences between the two games. Firstly, you get to read the entire poem after solving each "set" of ciphers, regardless of whether you were given the entire poem to solve or just selected parts of it. Secondly, you can read a brief biography of each poet. Both these features have really enhanced my understanding and enjoyment of all the poems in the game.

Prose and Codes was amazing. Poems and Codes is even better!

I have decided to try this game after learning it is based on Storybook Brawl, which I enjoyed a lot, but which, unfortunately, shut down. My impressions are mixed, to put it mildly...

Pros:
- A nice roster of characters and heroes, with diverse abilities.
- The treasures are many and varied.
- The artstyle is rather nice.
- The synergies are numerous and interesting.
- The heroes are diverse, and none of their abilities lock you into playing a specific "tribe" of characters.

Cons:
- Even though the subject matter seems to be aimed at children, there are a lot of tooltips to read, so it may not be suitable for the younger ones for that reason. And the tooltips are Necessary, to explain the many abilities and synergies. Storybook Brawl didn't have that problem, as its tooltips were much simpler.
- The "tribes" are not created equal - I was unable to place above 4th while playing Animals. Royals, on the other hand, seem overpowered. Storybook Brawl had a similar problem with some tribes being stronger than others, but not to such a large extent.
- Fairytale Fables has a Serious problem with misleading descriptions! When you click the Tutorial button on the main screen, you are given a choice of 3 difficulty options. All 3 clearly state they are "vs bots". However, they are obviously Not versus bots. They are against real players. No explanation of what the different terminology is, which makes it necessary to mouse over the underlined words and read the tooltips (meaning it isn't a tutorial). I've only played on the easiest of the "tutorial" difficulties so far, but I wouldn't be surprised if the other two are in fact the same difficulty, as I can't trust what the game's interface tells me any more!

I don't have particularly high hopes for the future of Fairytale Fables. It might shut down just like its predecessor did. But I still recommend you try it, because it's undeniably charming and unique in it's genre.

A lovely, chill and relaxing substitution cipher puzzle game, good for playing before going to bed. Three difficulty levels too, so you can pick your preferred one.

The only disadvantage is how it reminds me of all the books I haven't read yet. However, I believe that this is actually its intended purpose.

I'm not quite sure how to describe this game, because calling it an "inventory management autobattler" doesn't do it justice.

After you've picked one of the 4 classes and one of the two inventory config options for your chosen class, you end up in the shop. That's where the bulk of the game happens. You spend the gold you are given to buy various items to take to your next fight. Then you spend time arranging every healing herb, frying pan, strength potion, vampiric sword and lucky pig that you have purchased inside your limited bag space. This is even harder than it looks, as some items need other ones of a specific type placed in their vicinity for their special effects to trigger, while others can combine with one or two other specific items to make a stronger one, but only if they spend at least one fight next to each other in the bag. Additional inventory slots do appear in the shop, but not every round, so you need to be quite strategic. Once every 4 rounds, you are offered powerful unique items that either let you specialise in your class or simply give you more stats, but you can only pick one, so again, choose wisely.

Then you go to battle. This can be quite relaxing, actually - you just sit there, watching the health and stamina bars, and hoping that your opponent's numbers go down faster than yours. The feeling of smug superiority when you win is amazing! And even if you lose, you have quite a generous allowance of hearts before you lose the entire run. After the fight is over, you get more money and a better chance for more powerful items in the shop. The run goes on for 10 rounds (plus a few optional bonus rounds), but as it is not real-time, you can stop at any time and continue later, as well as re-watch any fight at a choice of speeds.

The interface is stellar. You can make a keybind of your choice to send the entire contents of your inventory to the storage bin, for re-arrangement purposes; you can reserve the items you like but can't afford yet, so that they don't disappear when you pull the rope to re-roll the shop; there's a section listing all the items in the game, and another one for all the item combinations.

All in all, I'll probably be playing this game until I'm Grandma - because that's the highest rank in the game, just above Grandmaster. Backpack Battles is easily my favourite Magic Tetris Shopping Simulator of all time! And it lets me have a giant rainbow blob as a pet!

A decent pack. If you enjoy colouring landscapes, or if you enjoyed the previous Vistas packs, you will like this one

I cannot really recommend this pack, because it wasn't very interesting for me. Many of the images are monochrome - white or black plus several shades of one colour. There's even an image with just 2 colours, one of which is black for the outlines.... As a consequence, the results don't feel very satisfying. The Onion pack is better if you want something with space-themed images, for both quality and variety.

The idea of this pack is that several smaller images make up a larger, final image.

It is a bit disappointing that about a third of the images are not in the final one. On the other hand, it's probable that the final image is supposed to be a surprise, so it is deliberately unclear which ones "make the final cut".

The overall idea is very interesting, and I'm hoping for more "onion packs" in the future, because this one was great fun for me!

Half-way through my second playthrough, I have decided to write a review of this game. But a review cannot be written without first explaining the Lot (caste) system that the world of this game has. There are 3 castes in this game, each with its own Lot.

First, there are the Nobles. Their Lot is to rule and govern. They have rights and privileges. Originally, only the blue-skinned Arknian race had the right to be Nobles. However, several centuries before the start of the story, humans were given the right to become Nobles of the Mantle, through their faithful service to the Empire. A Noble of the Mantle with a good enough reputation can apply to become Nobles of the Sword, making their nobility hereditary.

Second, there are the Commoners. Their Lot is to work hard, suffer, obey and never complain. They have hardly any rights, and certainly no privileges!

Finally, there are the Priests. Their lot is to instruct the people in the will of the Twin Gods, and make sure everyone follows the Lot they were given. The Twin Gods are supernatural beings who watch over the world, occasionally coming to people in visions, and even resurrecting them up to 3 times if they die.

The protagonist of the game is born at a turbulent time for the Empire, when many of its citizens have started to question the old Lot system. They range from those members of the clergy who doubt whether the rigid Lot system is what the Twin Gods truly want, to revolutionaries wishing to dismantle the entire social order, and many other things in-between. There are also those who wish to keep things just as they are. The player has the chance to decide which of the many groups Sir Brante is going to represent and fight for.

This game has often been criticised for not giving the player enough choice in the final chapter. But I believe this is a feature, not a bug! Because the choices available to the hero in the final chapter are determined by many of the choices made throughout the earlier chapters. Also, there is no way to save everyone and/or make everybody happy.

From a technical standpoint, the game is a masterpiece. The unusual artstyle and nice music make for a very immersive experience. The writing and storytelling strikes just the right balance - enough detail to make you care about the characters and the game world, but not so much that you are reading endless walls of text.

Overall, this is one of the best visual novels I've ever read. If this is going to be your first, it's a great starting point. If you are a fan of the genre, you are in for a treat!

I have played this game for over 100 hours before downloading it on Steam. Here are my thoughts:

Pros:

- It's a CORPG - a Cooperative Online Role Playing Game. I've no idea why it's being marketed as an MMO, because Guild Wars 1 always marketed itself as a CORPG without any problem. This acronym basically means that grouping up is optional and can be short-term. In Palia, you can call out to other people when you spot a flow tree, have them help you chop it down, and continue on your own merry way, with no further obligations. So if you like MMOs, but are uncomfortable with the idea of permanent guilds and needing to be on time for a dungeon raid, Palia is the game for you!

- You give your character 2 names. The first is your character name, which the other players see when you run around. The second is your nickname, which is how NPCs address you in conversation and correspondence, but which other players never see. These can be the same, or different. I like this system, and wish more games had it.

- The NPCs know each other, including those who aren't relatives. They may even tell you what another NPC wants for a weekly gift! Yes, there's a weekly gifting system.

- The cooking is great! You can do it alone or with other people. Who can contribute ingredients and you will both get the dish and the XP.

- There is an "edit mode" for your home plot, accessed by pressing H. It allows you to move any structure you have built or placed there. Including your house with all its furnishings (even if it's still under construction), your tent with everything inside it, and your crop plots with the crops on them.

- There is an item request system, but only for the things you have obtained in the past.

- 4 temples to explore with more coming in the future. Treasure chests scattered throughout both maps.

Cons:

- You are moved from one server to another a lot, with no control over this. This means making new friends is difficult, as the people on your server are always different.

- Currently, you can't start a New Game on an existing account, and the devs are not in a hurry to implement the feature, despite frequent requests from players. So watch or read a few guides before you start playing!

- What's the endgame? Completing bundles of rare items for rewards? But the difficulty of obtaining these items varies greatly. Crafting all the furniture sets for achievements? But my favourite is one of the earlier ones, which doesn't need rare materials. Building and furnishing the prettiest house? But who do I invite to my plot to see it, if I haven't added anyone to my friends list yet, apart from a friend I know IRL anyway, who doesn't need to be "impressed" to be my friend? I don't know...
