Absolute gem. Super relaxing game, art style, mechanics, music, just everything works so well. Like any good thing it leaves you wanting more. The game does not overstay it's welcome. It's around 8h to get all the achievements (probably less if you are really going for it but exploring is very fun). If you are going for the gold tools that were added in the update I have no idea... probably quite a bit longer since you need to do a lot of managing. Very much recommend this game.

Addendum: Cannot emphasize more just how on point the music choice is. That style of music is exactly what I associate with relaxing fishing type of games since like PS1 era. Kudos to the entire team.

Really fun. Probably my favorite DLC so far.

Lyn is my favorite DLC character if not favorite character overall. Simple to understand mechanics that do not get in the way of standard gameplay/ gunplay. Gives you weakspots and ice execution bar to manage which is perfect. You basically get rewarded for paying attention. Overall gameplay feels solid.

Momo is a very interesting concept with the whole ink thing, but the need to transform kind of takes me out of it and it feels like there's only one build you can do, so the character isn't exactly for me. With each character you can generally go either primary or secondary skill first, with Momo both options kind of feel the same since the primary skill is the shining star here that makes you legit immortal for a (long) while. You can't use weapons in that state, you get a melee attack.

New weapons: The staff and dragon jar are a new class of weapons in the compendium. From the new weapons I used the aim assist rifle and the dragon jar (it looks so cool; the concept is awesome) the most. The dragon shoots automatically, you only aim in general direction. I don't know if the update changed anything or something, but the dragon jar was shooting A LOT faster than all my runs after the hotfix update (in general not just with the skill on). Still a very cool weapon. The staff and the gauntlet I used like 2 times and didn't like them that much. I prefer faster weapons, but they are interesting in their own right.

Overall, a good DLC for a fair price. The stuff they release never feels like a rehash, it's always pretty unique.

Tl;Dr: Fundamentally flawed. Even for this cheap it's hard to recommend since it's just not fun. I was on the fence whether to recommend it or not but then I hit 900m.

The good:
- Art is fine
- The simple tried and true concept

The bad:
1. The upgrade system. The upgrade system makes no sense. Basically all the vehicles you buy start out with the same stats of the barebones vehicle you start with. However they have more upgrades that you can buy. These vehicles are expensive and the upgrades are as well. Imagine saving up 500k just to buy the next vehicle only to put it away because it's garbage until you at the very least spend the same amount you spent on the previous one. It makes no sense. And the tiers of vehicles also make no sense, some lose crucial upgrades which makes is not worth purchasing them. That's like buying a brand new car and it performing the exact same was as the cheapest most crusty option on the market until you put in 2x the amount of money you paid for it to perform better. Makes NO SENSE. Also why would you upgrade your previous cart when you'll have to spend the exact same amount on the same upgrade with the new one.
How it should be: Vehicles all have the same amount of upgrades but have different base stats. So when you purchase the next one it is worth your time
2. The pipe/ mine system is a nice idea to get some passive income but it's just not worth it. It costs a lot but doesn't really pay for itself in any timely manner. Sure you can upgrade it to get more money per mine but those upgrades cost thousands and thousands while after a lot of upgrades you'll be earning 100+. It's not enough to make a difference, one full inventory and you'll make tons more. Not to mention the system for connecting mines is pretty annoying... speaking of which,
3. At 900m you get hard blocked and you need to extend the pipe system to that level. 900m, each pipe/m costs 100. Now that's alright. I was lucky enough that I was digging down in the same spot as the pipe. You can't move the pipe, it only goes down in one spot. I can't help but to think how much of a pain it'd be to have to dig down all the way again had I started in a different spot. This is ridiculous. You shouldn't get hardblocked in such a way where you have to redo everything you've done so far.

These are my main complains, the other bigger one is that digging slows down to a crawl later on and you have to do that dumb thing where you save up for a vehicle and then save up to get it up to the level of your current vehicle. And after that you finally save up to get that new one to be slightly better. That's just padding tbh... very much not a good design choice. By 900m there's just no more fun to be had imo. Other than that, minor complains about how you use E to switch items but you also use it for talking to people, etc.

Overall it kind of screams Dev's first project.

Nope, just nope. The original campaign is fine if not a bit worse. The Shaftlock campaign was designed by someone braindead, secrets are abhorrent, balance does not exist. Constant backtracking, grinding etc. It perfectly shows how heroes of hammerwatch sucked. In that regard it is perfect.

To show you how utterly stupid it gets:
I got progressively more pissed off as the time went on. I gave up when I went back to get secrets and stuff I missed when at was at the last act. I couldn't get through the boss, maybe didn't grind out enough lives. You know 2 options you get when you run out of lives? You restart from checkpoint or RESTART THE ENTIRE ACT. You can't just respawn in town. Checkpoint spawns you at the start of the boss so that was a no go. Restarting the act put me back at the start of the last act AND the map was all empty and the best part...? All the secrets stuff and items I got were not there. What is the point of save icons...? How stupid design wise can you be? Also we got a lot of upgrades, we went out of our way to collect all the loot we could find and even grinded some in that one area. And enemies in the last area can 2-3 shot you anyways and it takes ages to take down a single enemy while they have higher range than you and often attack faster than you can get away. It's ridiculous. You can't change the difficulty or anything once you start up the campaign and that's bad, because early on it's all fine but it just gets ridiculous and you can't fix that with upgrades. It's just stupid. Oh and combo upgrades are such a waste on money in this game. You simply can't activate combo at all in later levels which means it's a waste of money because you can't use it. What's the point of it...?

As for the desert campaign. It's mostly fine, but short. What is not fine though - once you beat the final boss you can't do anything, you can't go back to explore or anything. You can miss out on the additional dungeon this way (we did.). When you load your safe the ending cut scene immediately plays and puts you in main menu. So it just softlocks you by design.

Not to mention so many bugs and dumb designs throughout all the campaigns designed to just be annoying or pad out the playtime. Why are firetraps made so you they only activate when you are a pixel away so upgrading movement speed makes them impossible because with less tanky classes the fire damage just kills you. AND other times the traps just bug out...? Not to mention some multiplayer bugs and how someone that was alive when they got disconnected sometimes joins dead and other times not. Or how if you were on your last life and that other person was the alive one, you are straight up softlocked from that playthrough. You'll load up a save to the death screen, you choose to load the save and it loads you back to the death screen. Amazing.

Just buy the original Hammerwatch, this company is one hit wonder.

Pretty fun game, more content than I expected. I'd say around 20h to get everything in this game.

Just like any other game of this time, this one has that one stupid achievement that requires you to have your game open for days or grind your life away. I don't feel like grinding Billions after I already got everything else nor do I like inflating my hours just for that. There is nothing else to keep me entertained while grinding that ridiculous amount. After I got everything I got to like 1/10 the required amount and gave up. Another one off from 100% achievements game on the list. This is getting pretty annoying tbh.

Also Chime's bells and later on frozen grass are insanely annoying. You can have the entire biome set up with collectors and it still is a bottleneck. Nothing else you can do but wait.

It took me around 7h to 100% the entire thing. There is a fair bit of jank, some titles you'll be at times counting seconds per frame then it'll go back to normal etc. It's weird.

On sale I'd 100% recommend it. Full price...? A bit expensive for a piece of nostalgia.

Some of these titles are the most memorable flash games for me. It's so weird to play these games again with adult brain, now knowing English. Back in the day I'd spend hours playing these... Now I blazed through them pretty much no problem despite not remembering much at all.

Well, it's a pretty lazy port tbh. It has the same jank as the original AND then some. It's legit just the game ported, no quality of life changes, nothing of the sort. Because of that you'll be blasted by ungodly loud music and tiny screen when you first open up the game. AND you can only access the settings when you finish the tutorial which is pretty damn stupid.

Weird thing I've noticed is that depending on a stage controls are better/ faster/ more fluid...? I have no idea why that is and if that was like that in the original. DO NOT play this on keyboard... Maaaybe the simple control scheme works but they put total of 0 effort to make PC controls usable at all. Did I mention that you can only change settings after beating the tutorial...? Yeah... including controls.

Tbh even playing on a controller the controls feel... weird. I don't remember that being the case, the worst part is definitely boost and trying to turn left and right fast. No idea why they didn't just utilize shoulder buttons like on PSP or any other buttons that are unused...

That being said, it's Katamari. It's fun. On sale 100% recommended. I'd say expect around 5h of playtime.

Wow, I utterly suck at this. With no knowledge of how any of this works I managed to brute force my way into making a few seconds loop of 16x16 animation... well, took me an hour. Seems like a very powerful tool, probably a good idea to watch some tutorials. Has a pretty ridiculous amount of options.

Makes me appreciate good pixel art even more tbh.

I'm not an artist, bought this during depressive episode for some dopamine and it worked - took my mind off of things for a bit.
