One day you met a beautiful woman and fell in love. One thing led to another and you ended up getting married. Years later, the marriage was loveless and you couldn't stand each other. Feeling like it just wouldn't work out, you left and filed for divorce. Your wife, however, went completely ape-**** and showed up at your family's house with a gun. She shot your mom, killed your dog, wounded your sister, and threatened to kill your entire family, then burn down their house - all unless you come back to her. You could have fought her, sure, but instead you decided to spare your family any more heartache and got back together with the crazy b^tch. You basically have to spend the rest of your life with her, all while listening to her side of the family go on about what a no-good pig you are for ever leaving her in the first place.

That, my friend, is essentially how the South sees the Civil War. And it's fairly close to how things went down, despite what they may teach you kids in school nowadays.
