This game has been in my periphery for the past howevermany years it was in development. I was anticipating this as the next great wario-like(?) (Its okay, I hate that name too) after Pizza Tower. I think it's not totally unfair to compare the two games on that end, even though that's doing both, but particularly antonblast a diservice. Antonblast has a strong essence all of its own. The gameplay is a lot more hectic than pizza tower, and often invites you to be as reckless as you can wager your hp on. There's no punishments for taking damage or moving slowly. Every timed section doesn't feel so much like a test of level memorization and mastery, and instead feels like a frantic scramble to the door as the world falls apart around you. I would liken this game's timer segments to the musical levels from Rayman Legends, if anything. This game also looks amazing. I loved it, cannot recommend it enough. I'm very proud of the indie scene for producing unique, quality platformers like these.

No tutorial, no story mode, no workshop, nothing outside of ranked and online matches. And even those online matches have extremely rough gameplay that top players are desperately calling for tweaks of. All of the roadmap plans hinge on the game selling well at launch and making money through the incredibly scummy monetization. The team hasn't even hired the people required to work on anything besides multiplayer and making skins. I don't know what happened with this team, but I cannot recommend this game in good faith. It is being built to be a money vacuum first and a game second. As a backer, I am severely disappointed. As a rivals fan, I am heartbroken.

I never played any of the earlier carrot games, but I saw this game while spelunking on itch.io and instantly knew I had to play it!

The art never ceases to amaze through the entire 30 minute narrative. These colors are gorgeous, and every single location cut-in was jaw-dropping.

The characters are all really charming, shoutouts to Nyx’s adorable moms in particular!

♥♥♥♥ AI and trans rights, very cool videogame!

Really fun idea, but is absolutely not a finalized game yet.

I hope I'm witnessing the birth of a new subgenre, I really did enjoy the movement and there were absolutely moments of brilliance in the level design.

However, this game objectively is lacking if it continues to not have a map. The game has a distinct lack of landmarks to make up for it, and the map is sprawling and interconnected enough to make it a must for not getting turned around every few minutes.

Some areas such as the Underbelly also suffer from poor visibility even after picking up the lighting aid, making it the worst part of the game especially with the other issues compounding.

Worth the price of admission? If you like the idea of a platformer with a metroid-like progression, then yes. If you're willing to put up with some heavy jank to soak in this type of gameplay, then it is for you.
