Easy to learn, but hard to master.
Watching a trailer for 30 seconds tells you pretty much everything you need to know about the game. What you see is what you get. Controls are straight forward and easy to learn, enemies are varied and their mechanics can be grasped quickly after engaging them once or twice.
This is a perfect game for the Steam Deck or people looking for a quick gaming session in-between IRL obligations.

I have some minor annoyances with items and guns not always being clearly explained.
Also, having to start from the beginning after each death can be demoralising.

Parts of this game were really great. The music and graphics really hit the mark, the gunplay was also excellent.
Overall sound design and voice acting was also spot on, and the story was decent.
Traversal in this game was some of the worst I've ever experienced. Even giving some allowance for the age of this game, its no excuse for some of the ideas for travel and quest design. Often wasting my time by making me travel as much as possible in order to pad the game length out.
Quests were often far too difficult which forced me to do boring side jobs in order to move forward in the main story. Side quests should be optional.

Borderlands comes close to a recommendation from me, but not quite.
