This is the first gears of war game I've played since gears of war 3 so it's sure been some time. I decided to buy this for two main reasons, one...it was on sale and really rather cheap and two I've always loved the world of gears of war and it's lore and when I saw the trailer for gears of war: e-day I thought maybe it's time to get back into the franchise.

And after playing this, man...I have a lot less hope for E-day. the sheer amount of ridiculous lighthearted humour in this game is just...what in the world? it's like the developers have turned a dark and gritty game about the last of humanity fighting a losing war against a horde of genocidal nightmarish monsters into some wacky teenage adventure story.

I mean seriously, none of the new characters in this game seem to act their age or role/rank for that matter, their tone of voice and mannerisms mixed with the constant silly jokes was just so off putting.

Having said that I will admit though it has been fun playing horde mode from time to time, I loved playing on the map Gridlock...I remember playing that map in the first gears of war, way back when.

But the story, characters and the dialogue between them feels so...immature,sadly I don't think I can recommend this game unless you are a really big fan of GoW lore and you buy it on sale.

A really awesome game, the story kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what's going to happen next, I thought all the companions you can get were great and I loved their personalities and stories.

I thought it was awesome that the game also gives you a fair few options on who you want your character to be when it comes to your background, for example you can play as a psyker an imperial navy officer or imperial guard officer and a fair few others.

There were a few issues here and there with some very minor bugs and the ending slides were a little bit wrong for my game, so...hmm, if you really want a bug free experience maybe wait for a few more patches but this game should still absolutely be on your wishlist, I myself am really looking forward to seeing the new upcoming DLC though.

Not really worth it to be honest, you get better looking cosmetics and portrait frames in game for free just by leveling up. Also 2,500 aquilas is really not that much, if you are going to buy Darktide just buy the base game first and make up your mind later if you want to buy this.

Would highly recommend this game, it's much more organised with a stronger focus on teamwork and tactics then games like battlefield or call of duty, while at the same time not being overly like a milsim game, it's a great mix between the two.

It really pains me to give this a thumbs down,but...at the end of the day I'm not going to be a shill.

So this game isn't finished, although it's advertised as such it's really an early access game.
Now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with early access games, just as long as you inform customers about what their buying and what to expect.

And Fatshark would have you believe that you are paying for a full game with cool DLC to come later on in sessions,
instead we have been given the absolute bare minimum of a game with Fatsharks plan to release the rest of it over a number of years.

Look,if your a really die hard warhammer 40k fan like me you will still get a lot of fun out of this even with it's issues and lack of content, but if your not that big of a fan or maybe don't know what warhammer 40k is,I would say wait, give it maybe six months to a year and then maybe buy it.

On a more personal note I really do hate to give this a negative review,I really...really hope Fatshark can turn things around soon so that I can come back and edit this review to positive, but I'm getting a little bit tired with the way things are going within the gaming industry.

Thought I would update this review, the date is now 15/09/23 or 09/15/23 if you are American, there is still no new content both in gameplay or story and disconnects and crashers are still rife, sadly I feel like any new updates at this point would be a case of too little to late to get me to change this review to positive.

I would say only buy this game if you are a huge warhammer 40k fan, even then, if you have other games on your wishlist go play them first and then maybe think about buying this game.
