Quake Remaster is a convenient way to play the singleplayer mode. No hassle with different mod folders, configs and source port compatibility. I finished all mission packs included and I still have loads of fun with the advertised addons which you can easily download and run from the UI.

I haven't tested highly regarded stuff like Arcane Dimensions but in case you want to dig into Quake cult: there are over 1800 mods & maps around and many of them offer great content. Basically you can play Quake for the rest of your life. If you're a diehard fan of Quake you don't need anything else!

If you want to show more addons just put this parameter into the launch options from Quake.

I remembered back then Quake players claimed that Q2 has the best singleplayer mode. At that time I was playing Q3/QL competitively for many years. The remaster update is the perfect throwback for any Quake fan. No matter if you're a tryhard or a casual player. Basically you need the passion for oldschool FPS games.

It's so satisfying to kill the opponents with the beefy super shotgun and the legendary rocketlauncher. Each weapon has its unique purpose to make kills more fun. The enemies act way smarter compared to the legacy version (some of them can even duck your shots!) and the compass is a very good aid in case you got lost due to the linear level design.

After 8 hours I finished the regular campaign which is indeed very short for today's standards. However the 4 expansions will bring many more hours of worthful playtime I'm pretty sure. For only 10 bucks you can't compared it to AAA titles nowadays. Many thanks to bring back this amazing title Machine Games and Nightdive Studios!

I play this over Halo Infinite due to several reasons:

- higher FPS / lower latency (overall MUCH better performance)

- imho gunplay is better (sounds and visuals)

- lower TTK which is more satisfying to the "slower pace" (hello I come from Quake!!)

- there are some pretty fun modes

- I support smaller f2p games and I don't go for the hype

Early Access Review
If we don't get another successor in the Quake franchise this will be my last one.
See you on the pit my sweet cannon fodder!

Kind regards your nightmare with the heavy shaft!
