So I wanted to wait until the game was in full release to do a review, well it is now.

Risk of Rain 2 is a third-person co-op arena looter shooter, now that does't explain what it really is.

how the game goes is you select a character (Commando for new players), choose your difficulty (drizzle, rainstorm and Monsoon), press start and get dropped in via escape pod, you run around killing monsters earning gold to open supply crates for items, when you find a teleporter activate it and kill the boss, charge the teleporter use it to get to the next stage, rinse and repeat, pretty simple Right!

GAMEPLAY
So the gameplay loop is what i mentioned above but that's only talking about stage progression, which accounts a sixth of the game. Stages/levels are always randomised, that means where you spawn, where crates spawn, when & where enemies spawn and where the teleporter spawns. This makes every run different and unique from eachother, adding a nice refreshing feel every time you play, there are 10+ plus stages/areas in the game currently all of them having random layout and placement every time you play. Most you will encounter playing normally, others are regarded as secrets and need to be looked for.

ITEMS AND CHALLENGES
The next part to talk about is Items and what is progression, completing Challenges. Items are the butter to the gameplays bread, they are essential to the game. Items have different passive effects ranging from increasing attack speed to giving a personal shield, adds extra jump to get health when dealing damage, they are extremly needed to keep you alive and going in a run. Items also have rarity going from common(white), uncommon(green), special(yellow), legendary(red) and lunar(blue). All of them granting different effects and bonuses. Equipment are items you can activate manually for effects, most of the time its for damage or healing but there are a few utility ones .I wont say what all of them do, so enjoy the game to find out for yourself.

CHALLENGES
Each time you go into a run when you die, complete it or decide to leave, none of the items you picked up stay with you and you start bear bones every run, progression in this game is completing challenges. Challenges unlock everything from new characters to new items and equipment, every character has their own challenges to complete which unlock new abilities and skins. the description of the challenges can be vague or straightforward, most of them you will unlock just by playing the game normally, others require knowledge of the game and the drive to complete them.

MULTIPLAYER
This game has co-op in it, you can play with friends or join randoms for some fun. The way loot is distributed is crates just drop one item, defeating all bosses during a teleporter event will drop items, one for everyone, and more crates spawn. The catch is is that everyone can pick up anything, so if you pay for a crate they can steal that item from you as it drops, so talking with your friends is needed, some items work great for other characters while most work well in general. If you are playing with randoms, you can signal to them using middle-mouse button, this brings up a icon of whatever your pinging be it an item, enemy, teleporter or where your moving. If you are killed in a co-op run you are dead until your friends finish the stage, then you comeback in the next stage or you all die and you start again, you cannot pick up items when you are dead, this can become very detrimental for you as getting items=more power, your friends can grab the items that were meant for you, making it advantageous for them but also detrimental for them.

CONCLUSION
While I could keep going on about the game it would feel it would spoil the fun of discovering the game yourself.
I highly recommend this game, 9/10
hopoo studios love this game alot and they appreciate their fans and community, they are going to continue updating and adding more things to this game.

I can't wait to see what they add next, sighed Rexany
