TL;DR: Wait for a sale, or y'know just buy it it's not my money you're spending. Jokes aside I recommend this game, it's one of my all time favorites. If you're serious about this game, actually wait for a sale (I love this game but it should be worth ~$20, not 40.), read my advice, which is the 2nd paragraph, get friends into it too, and invest in a microphone if you don't have one already.

Honestly, this game is a solid 5/10, but I love it. I've put way more hours into DayZ on Xbox but I'm sure even those hours aren't a whole lot. I still need to try the workshop stuff but I have played plenty of official and boosted servers. I've personally haven't found many bugs, other than the heavy attack button not working on keyboard and I've only seen serious bugs on Xbox. Now as for the gameplay this has got to be one of the best survival games I've ever played. I don't think I've played another game like it. It's very unforgiving at times, but once you've played long enough you can get by with enough effort. I haven't dug too deep into the community so i can't really say for sure how toxic it is, but I have seen some, and the high likelihood of getting attacked on sight isn't exactly a toxicity thing. It's a byproduct of how the gameplay loop works. I would understand if some hate it with a burning passion or love it, but after playing long enough and being mentally prepared to die at any time, I see it as a fitting and strangely realistic addition. Despite it, I managed to make some friends, and make some really great memories on Xbox. I haven't been able to link up with any of them anymore, and I'm a little sad to leave it all behind on Xbox, but I'm sure I'll be able to do it all over again. I may be bringing up the Xbox version a lot, and that's because there's little to no difference, other than the mod support. Now playing alone? That's a little difficult to explain. The game will be as hard as I've explained but I would say the skill ceiling is very, very high when it comes to PVP and the PVE skill ceiling is somewhat low/medium, depending on how much you research and how long you've played the game. With friends you will have a really good time unless you don't know what you're doing, and playing alone is pretty lonely feeling and it gets a bit boring at times, but it's a really good way to take in the atmosphere and enjoy a beautiful landscape, if you have the right settings. This game is more about the journey than the destination. The stories you can tell and the adventures you can go on makes nearly every hour worth it. Overall, there's a lot of good reasons to dislike this game, but there's many more reasons to love it if you take the time to find them. I can understand if you don't enjoy this game.

The few but good pieces of advice i can give you are don't trust any stranger, learn a little bit of Cyrillic (And you don't have to learn a lot, the most I learned is a couple of letters and I've forgotten a good bit of it after not playing it on Xbox for so long, but I can pick it back up), download IZurvive, the mobile app that shows you the map, play when you know you have a few hours to spare, not just a few minutes, DON'T get attached to your loot, you will lose it, understand that the best course of action is to simply die, or leave the game and come back later (I'm not saying give up and die at the slightest inconvenience, but there isn't really a sunk cost fallacy when it comes to your loot. Once you're good enough at the game to get a run going in less than an hour or 2 then dying isn't too expensive (A good run sometimes isn't about your destination/what you have at the end of it). If you think it'll take less time/effort to attempt to survive than to die and hope you have a better run, physically and mentally prepare yourself to die, and keep pushing.), learn how to navigate, learn how to loot, sneak, forage, and a good bit of crafting, it will save your life, and the most important pieces I will give you, as I've said before, is to absolutely have a mic that works, and try to make friends (The former makes the latter a lot easier). I'm not saying go up to a person that looks like they've been alive for a long while, they'll probably kill you out of gear fear or desperation. I'm saying maybe team up with a person that looks like they are freshly spawned as well, and has a mic, or try talking to other people under circumstances that'll allow you to be more civil (Don't be afraid to kill though if you're having that same gear fear or desperation, it's the apocalypse.), or if neither of those work, try going on a Discord or Subreddit about the game and teaming up there. Maybe even get friends into this game too, that'd probably work a lot better.

Hope this is a more helpful review than your average joke/low effort bullet list/copypasta. Thanks for reading, correct me if I made any typos, share some stories/add more advice, and be good people. I almost never write reviews so this review that I've taken like an hour or so to write should speak volumes about what I think about this game.
