As much as the skyrim re-releases are memed the Special Edition is actually a big improvement over the Legendary Edition. Stability is much better which makes modding easier and the reworked lightning looks nice.

The anniversary edition on the other hand is something you should not even add to your game if its given to you for free. It's a lazily packed bundle of "creations" that are soulless and lacking in any real effort, it genuinely reduces the quality of the game you're playing when you put this DLC in your world.

Absolutely amazing game. The writing and story are phenomenal and the characters, surroundings and voice-acting are all fantastic as well. The gameplay is of course very similar to Skyrim, however it introduces quite a few mechanics that make it more challenging. In most cases this means you'll have to be smarter about your engagement and manage your resources very carefully which makes the combat a lot more exciting. However sometimes the added challenge just feels unfair and a tad frustrating, though in the end the game still remains decently balanced and well playable.

Bottom line: if you like Skyrim, or RPGs in general, this will most likely be an amazing experience for you.
