Food for Thought Review

I honestly enjoyed this game as you see my hours of playing it, I got addicted over the weekend for how simple yet fun this game can be. I honestly think all you need to start with this series is with Kingdom Two Crowns, the rest I feel is redundant and maybe even better for how they added to the game. Your whole objective is that you are a king/queen and you need to rebuild your kingdom and expand your land for power, while also kill your enemies the greed how original. You as the ruler can’t really do much without your servants, after all no one rules alone. That’s why you got to fork over some cash and let your subjects do all the work for you! Yes, this is a 2D tower defense game where you have to manage both sides to beef up your walls so that at night the greed don’t show up and destroy your defense or steal your crown which is how you will get a game over if you lose your crown.

This game perhaps at times for how simple it is can be boring especially in the beginning since you are just trying to earn some money to get more subjects from the hobo camp and recruit more farmers or archers. The soundtrack is so beautiful to listen, mixing the gorgeous background makes me sometimes forget how much time flies. You have your personal steed to ride around but of course you can always change it for a better one depends if you got cash or gems. Yes gems, basically like premium currency you have to find in chests throughout the land and you must keep it safe until you build a boat and the dock keeper spawns in so you can store your gems. Your citizens once you give them a role to do it they will automatically start working, is good but there is a double edge sword to it. You can’t change a class once you give them a role and you can’t command them to go which direction you wish for them to go. Which creates frustrating AI moments where I want to send all my units inside the cave only a few will go in with the bomb I made. If you accidently deforest all the trees where the hobo camp lives they are gone forever and you can’t bring them back, so the amount you have is all you have. Thankfully, your citizens don’t die but if you have a lot of farmers but little warriors you are so screwed. Same if you want to do a perfect run of destroying the caves where they spawn the greed you CAN’T GO BACK to the previous island you complete, because if you do you will have to restart your progress again to that island! This has happened to a friend of mine I co-op with and it was such a rage moment for my friend. You must keep track of it otherwise you will have to do double the work. What exactly is the reward for completing all of the islands? Honestly, not much difference when they show you a stat of completion except it will role the credits that said you finally complete the entire game, very anti-climactic if you ask me.

There are three modes but honestly they are just reskin with little difference in gameplay, the Shogun period is the only mode that is slightly more different than the kingdom or the “gothic” setting mode. Wish there was something a bit more. Either way I still got my money’s worth and despite sometimes how stubborn or stupid the AI can be, if you know how to plan it especially don’t destroy all of your hobo camps then it isn’t too bad to manage your kingdom. Also note, once you go to the next island that you have to manage, your previous island will still be attack from the greed and if you return back to your previous island then your defense might shrink for how much stronger the enemy have gotten each day, just FWI. Overall I would get it on sale and I call it a day. Thanks for reading!

Food for Thought Review

Is an interesting free Co-op game, you can play it with a stranger or with a friend, the puzzles were unique and is basically you have to really work together to get out of the castle you are in. You either play as the explorer or the librarian, choosing the explorer you as the name implied you explore the castle while the librarian helps the explorer navigate the castle and look for clues in the library room. Is all voice chat so if you are shy using your voice this game isn’t for you since last time I check there is no text involve. You can play it on a 3rd party software like discord but if you want to be “authentic” to the game use the walkie-talkie and try not to talk over to the person is speaking to you while solving the puzzle.

The game is short if you solve it breezily, but what this game can take you longer is essentially just communication alone. If you know how to solve the puzzle but your partner is having a hard time following your solution, this will get tricky since both players have to know exactly what they need to do in order to solve the puzzle is basically teamwork. They are creative and sometimes stressful when is time base, but is enjoyable once you have that satisfaction of finishing it. Sad part of every puzzle games is that once you solve it, you know it and there for it won’t entertain you much longer replaying it again, unless you haven’t touch this game in a long while and you have another friend who wants to play it.

Disclaimer toward the end of the game I will warn you without spoiling, there is only two endings, there is no 3rd, I tried but I won’t tell you what it means, only there is a funny Easter egg achievement if you find it, I face palm when I figured it out what it is, if you found out then congrats you know my struggle. There are other games in this series and I am planning to review each of them so I am looking forward to that. This free game is worth it if you are not sure of a Co-op game to play and you heard of this, I suggest you pick it up.

Food for Thought Review

This review IS NEITHER POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE REVIEW, this is rated as INFORMATIONAL ONLY. Just in case if people see it that I gave it a negative or positive, is very neutral in my opinion.

This game, which it isn’t even a game to begin with is more of an interactive tool for people who want to air their grievance which is an interesting idea. Where if you have any issues going you write your problems in this diary like text, the difference is that once you publish your confession it will be public but as the creator said is anonymous, meaning the creator doesn’t know who that person is despite if you write a name or country. You might be thinking “will there be horrible people writing troll posts to people to off themselves?” For that I say there is a review system but that system is only the creator who will monitor the posts.

This is my only concern for this idea because initially I thought it would be a private diary you write, you keep and if there is an option to burn your confession after you write it you could. However, since this is for the public to see and yes nobody will know you, there is no way to report these harassment posts if there is one, not to mention when you read the posts you feel more depressed then feeling you are related to the person, why? I think is lets say if two people have the same issue they can’t share their grievance or at least share a story of success they want to share where one of their method actually works. Humans in general have a sense of instinct to help people if they are in need and if they can’t share it with someone or help then you are just looking at a window of someone’s depressed life and feel bad. I read posts of someone murdered someone (if that is true/false) someone describe a gruesome detail of how they missed cutting themselves or how they don’t want to take the medicine, I don’t know it feels stressful.

The creator did said that he wanted to make a game free of judgment and to relieve that burden off their chest which is fair, but again I have to ask why not just make a solo diary for themselves with password protection and have the option to post it in public? I would also add a suggestion to the creator where if he still wants his game to make it non-interactive with someone like if person A writes back person B like a reply letter, why not make a gallery of similar letters with similar problems for people who have problems to relate those problems? If is too depressed of that option why not add a tab of “positivity” where people say something positivity that they conquered their problems and want to share their experience where someone say something like “you CAN do this, is hard at first but everyone will succeed this is how I got out,” something like that.

That is about it, the only tiny nitpick is that the spacing is wrong in the option menu and it needs a tweak on the auto correction. I would also add a resource tab like sucide hotline or a disclaimer of seeking help/actual therapy if they needed it.

Initially I was planning to review this game after the suppose “final” update of the game, but since the revive it after the *cough* failed two games they made, they need money and need to beat a dead cow back, so screw it I can’t wait any longer I’m going to review the base game and my experience overall with this game.

I just like the idea of you being a classic robber just go on heists and steal loot, simple but fun. I played the first and it was alright, looking back to the first is now showing its age and I don’t know who else is playing the first game besides nostalgic reasons. The sequel really improves over the first for how many guns you can wield, different possible missions and ways to complete. The music is solid, the different modes and masks you unlock is always fun to collect them all. You can pick any fun unique heisters from the payday crew, pick different missions which oh boy some of the missions are either classic heist missions to ridiculous missions like stealing goats for Vlad.

There is a story to this game if you pay attention to that sort of thing, pretty fun, wild story but honestly it was fun. I just wish the story ended the way it’s supposed to be instead of “extend it” for the sake of pumping this almost decade old game, I don’t even think Payday 3 should be warranted to be honest? They first need a new engine to run modern standard games and also try a different IP, the problem with the two is for one they used the old engine and two they recycle the Payday formula which they really have to stop with that eventually or it will be their fall.

The game is showing its age yet despite that I’m still playing with new players from my buddies who want to get into the series so as of this review I have a Payday itch. The game is either easy to brutally hard if you don’t know how to manage your skill points or if you try Death Sentence, at that point you are either enabling your hacks or finding players with hacks because that is what I found usually in that setting in loud missions. If you got a very good team with all 100 point max out with good skills than perhaps is possible but it is certainly possible on Death Wish difficulty, trust me I tried and beat it. Though there are problems in loud missions where there are way too many dozer types on Death Wish is ridiculous at that point. In stealth they still have not fix issues where bringing the AI hostage to you they are brain dead and there are graphical hiccups when dead bodies flail around. Though is really the engine and game showings its ugly spots which I’m guessing at that point they have to make a new game. Despite those flaws and especially on stealth missions they have not added something to improve it, I still like the game as like visiting a great uncle who tells good stories but make those coughing and sniffling noises he usually do, you know what I mean :P.

Food for Thought Review

This I wouldn’t consider this as a your average “game” more like an education game. I use this mainly to indulge myself to learn firearms because I love weaponology even when I was young I remember watch a lot of firearm documents in the Military Channel….I know I was an odd kid back then. Of course I can’t afford any of those antique firearms but wish to simply study it, when I found this interesting tool I was surprise of how good this World of Guns is by dissemble and reassemble the weapon you choose. You get educational resources if you like this sort of gun like a youtube link and a Wikipedia link, though is good for a summary page not a full fledge scholar source. If you reeeeally like the gun you can order a 3D part of the gun or buy from the manufacture itself which they also provide the link. It’s very interesting how much hard work they provide the detail parts of a particular gun and you can examine it closure with x-ray or a cutaway. You can observe how the firearm works by “test drive” shooting it, if you want to pay extra you can buy the shooting range which honestly is nothing to wow about.

They offer different contents like anatomy of bones, cars, tanks and airplanes if you want something different than firearms. Two gripes of this tool is that one, there are many DLC to buy and everything you do is with payment so if you want to do well on a firearm quiz, customize paint etc you got to pay. I recommend just get the full access pack because you will not only get all the fire arms but you will get future once as well when they will update it. I used to grind for guns but now I bought it out of sheer support for the company and will plan to get the tanks edition in the future, but only as a bundle in a DLC including the planes. My 2nd gripe is the other mini games like memorize every single part and expect you to get it right seems cheap in my opinion and not really worth exert your brainpower for this. I suggest perhaps add a history quiz for that particular fire arm including where did it manufacture produce and its history behind it? I would love it since this is why I got into this education game to not only learn the inner workings of a gun but perhaps I want to know the history behind it?

Overall, I really suggest to get it if you are a gun enthusiast, history enthusiast like myself, guns you can’t afford but would be interest to get into. Is pretty much a great learning tool to start in the hobby of learning about firearms? Perhaps learning the very basics of gun smiting might be useful, who knows. I’ll give this a pass and support the devs for keep updating this game and all their hard work they do.
