This game is one of my longest game time I played, it used to be TF2 but Siege was a fun game I used to play a lot but now I am so burned out, mainly because Ubisoft took away the spirit of what made the game good. I normally don’t review a lot of multiplayer games because I am more of an analytical story driven reviewer, but this one I want to share this negative review with you all of why I think after so long why I decided to review it and what made this game a negative for me. This won’t focus on a lot on gameplay or anything but the experience of the game, just a warning.

This game used to be all about swat teams killing terrorists and just play on maps to train yourself against other rainbow operatives. I remember I had a lot of fun of the scenarios and the university level with the cutscene, oh man. Did that had so much potential to have a serious story line, I remembered back during the cancelation of Patriots I followed that hype and wanted something like this, but since they said they won’t make a story line on Siege I was disappointed but still enjoy the multiplayer. The operatives you choose and the maps were fun and you try to strategize how to win the match. It was challenge this game offer and even years still I am not pro league despite if I stop playing for a week I’m back to being a newb. There were seasons I enjoyed and the most I enjoyed was Operation Chimera where till this day enjoyed the character Finka and her backstory as well. I thought everything was pretty well and not much thought should I say anything in this review, except last and this year it started to made me dislike the game more and more to the point to make a review of it.

It has shift from a game about a swat team focusing on competitive teamwork to an e-sport oversaturated with operatives and LOL craaaaazy wacky costumes to wear. It used to be just a simple game with a simple core gameplay but I can’t stand of how bland it becomes where you don’t even recognize as a swat base game. Terrorist Hunt has been replace with elimination, way too many operatives that half of these operatives are 2.0 version of the originals and some are hybrids of some operatives. The reworks on half of the map sucks, buffs and nerfs are endless especially how they keep nerfing the original. How the game focus so much being like an e-sport game where every mode has to be competitive, not to mention is fast pace instead of taking your time. The old cover of the game is now removed to look more “e-sport” competitive instead of people that are supposed to have a secretive-serious job instead of training to be in the Olympics? I’m joking on this but it feels like head canon for me where the new head of Rainbow Six of this guy keep punishing the operatives to use their tools to be effective in battle (by nerfing) and instead they focus too much in sportsmanship rather than fighting terrorism, a complete joke from the previous R6 games from the tone in all honest.

I don’t know if is because of our culture that Ubisoft is “sensitive” and want to appeal a wider audience which they almost seriously bend to China by censoring blood and skulls into the game which, dear god this would made the game even blander. That is it, I wanted to talk about how the tone shift and of course the gameplay has change into a joke itself. I may still play with buddies but the drive to play it is just gone and focusing on other games to play.

Food for Thought Review

The reason why I put this one a food for thought review and not a full on review is quite simple….I have little to say in this game because I didn’t find this one fun to discuss about it. However since I review the first Amnesia and I pretty much enjoyed it, this game I wanted to play since the third game of the series has just been released, so I want to dive in this game before I get into the third one.

This game felt like it cut a lot of the good parts that made Amnesia good, which is the atmosphere, tense sound quality and more. Instead the game’s “monsters” is all about pigs! Only one monster design out of the entire game and suspenseful moments are seeing pigs pigs and did I mention more pigs? The story is alright, but I felt that gameplay was lacking because the sanity meter wasn’t there anymore and there is very little to interact to solve puzzles. Game was short, enemies were stupidly easy to avoid, I only died once in this game because I made a wrong turn in one of the level that I bump into them. Once I got my thrill spend from knowing what the enemies are and the environment of the game it just went flat from here on out, not to mention how quickly completing this game can be.

It was created by the same developers that made Dear Esther which I didn’t find it fun either despite the interesting the poetry dialogue was. It was a small interactive game with walk simulator so it makes a lot of sense that these developers were not much gameplay and focusing suspenseful game but just the story part they are good at. Which again it was alright, I did find it interesting some of the plots reveal about the father looking for his kids in his mansion while exploring his factory, which was pretty neat. Overall, it was just that the story was fine, everything else was just mediocre and the environment was okay but not shivering enough. Get it on a very good bundle sale if you wish because the game doesn’t take too long to beat.

Food for Thought Review

…….What can I say about this game. I like demons, I like cute girls, combine the two and you have Hellkeeper. If you are the type of person who will venture off to literal hell to date adorable demon girls for your harem collection then this game is for you!

Honestly, the first time I heard and only say the cover art of the game I thought it was a diner dash like game where you serve pancakes like I keep seeing in art forums! The game is super short, like 30 mins to an hr long game if you decide to 100% complete it. There are only about ten puzzle levels and is basically you manage how many moves you can reach your demon girl before you expire. Once you reach your demon girl you must do an undertale move by flirting these lovely ladies and hope they won’t kill you in the process.

If you feel lazy and don’t want to do the puzzles, you can always skip and just flirt with the girls! Which cuts by about 10 mins, the longest one I suppose is the “final boss” which doesn’t have a puzzle mechanic and act in a survival action level. That’s really it in terms of the whole game except if you want to 100% complete it you must collect some relic in the boulder and finish the game again to get more demon girl to recruit. I would highly encourage the developer who ever made it, makes either a sequel to this or another game that has a similar arts style like Hellkeeper, whatever he or she feels like. Is free so I think is very worth it and the fan art it comes is well….sinful ;)

(update on new lvl Examtaker: Very fun new lvl, think of it as extra special lvl that the puzzles are harder and the new boss dear god get ready to have your brain workout hard.)

Food for Thought Review

Kero Blaster was a fun game for me a few years ago, I decide to review it because I stubble upon my OST list of songs and remember my favorite sound track “stage 3 Hotel” thought I might as well review it since I still remember how this game was made.

It was created by the same people who created Cave Story and if you know about Cave Story then you know how talented they or should I say he was in making it. Yes it was made by one guy who made Cave Story and the studio later on after the success of that game created this gem of an indie game. Released only in the IOS store and later PC and console platform this game is pretty fun to play despite how short it is about 4-5 hrs long.

You play as Kero the frog trying to clean up teleports that is clogging the city and you have friends like pink and cat to help you out, yes I know creative names. You can tell my favorite character is Cat base on subtle hints in my profile. Kero has a strict boss that tells Kero to clean the city so that is what our brave frog is going to do. Is a platform shoot em up game with various gun weapons to choose from. You got interesting hard bosses and a kick-ass soundtrack that I’ve never got bored if I somehow died from that stage. Since the game isn’t that long it compensate by making this game hard seriously this game can be punishing and is really recommend to get these upgrades of your weapons and especially health as soon as possible. A side note I love that if you lose all your life and when you approach Cat he would say “want to head to the Hot Spring” as if to say “forget this let’s skip work.”

That is pretty much it and I really recommend and get the OST version as well. Really easy to learn, pretty fun game to have and hope there are more games made by the same developers. There is a prequel free game which is called Pink hour that you play as Pink trying to get a missing important paper for the boss and if he doesn’t get it back it will be trouble for the boss.

Food for Thought Review

Remember on my Nekojishi review that I would review Doki Doki Literature? Well, I forgot all about it because of life reasons until I looked back on my Nekojishi review and my friend urging me to play it so I finally got time to sit down and play the game. After finally finishing it I have some thoughts, for one is surprisingly not too long to beat if you are a speed reader. Second, the game is not as psychological scary to the point of scaring as I imagined it, because after playing Nekojishi and explained about my “scaring” moment of one scene I thought Doki Doki Literature would do the same thing and thought I would wait it out to “heal”. That healing process eventually just turns to forgetfulness and move onto other games to play.

But enough about that, how is the game? Well I can’t really talk too much about the game because this is another one of those 4th wall type of game where you got to experience for yourself, so let me explain as best I can about this game without spoilers except at the end because it is important to know about the ending of the game for those who question about it. This game is your typical dating sim with cute and lovely ladies that you go to a literature club. You just try to hang out with them to know about them and eventually know perhaps…too much about them.

Is it as scary as the game implied? It depends on what level of scary you imagined it would be, if you are thinking that the game will read your mind and tries to mess you up is not. You will see disturbing images but this is why the warning is valid when is said if you have anxiety or depression be warn because it plays some of those themes but doesn’t mock you the player for having that mental state. Is still good of a game but it has its own faults.

For example you the player are just the backseat on a rollercoaster of Visual Novel and the game gives you an illusion of choice which to me peeves me because what is the point of choosing your girls to hang out if the game steers you away from it which I think the programmer knows and try to mock it. The poetry session could use some better mechanic in writing your poetry because you are just picking random words that suits the characters personality. Yuri the quiet one is into dark stuff, Natsuki the tsundere any cute stuff and Sayori the best friend into I’m guessing anything that is not too cute or not too dark?

Spoiler analysis to the Ending!

The whole concept of the game is that Monika the president of the Literature Club is aware that she is in the game (shocking I know) yet you find out that if you erase her character file, her friend who is the next president is aware of their existence. Is like whoever is the president is self-aware that everything is not real. She’s in love with you yet hates the fact she is not real, is almost like she has a very yandere personality which is intriguing. Yet at the same time frustrating because the ending is a bittersweet moment where is inevitable to make her or others happy.

Which is why she just erase the game entirely to not suffer. You don’t have no say and the main character has no say as well because he is just a husk. Is so weird because that is how visual novel plays by following a dialogue script yet Monika has a self-aware AI program that works more in a different genre to play. I’m guessing if we are playing “god” in their universe then the programmer is a sick god that gave her self-aware whoever is president of the club knowing the limitation of the game it presents to you or to them. I wish you can’t exactly do anything to give Monika a sense of life purpose meaning by communicate to her or by trying to give you a hard choice by removing the self-aware Ai by removing the “president” title of the game entirely that would be an interest alter-ending. Instead there is a special “happy” ending where you have to save the game just like what Monika said to you before and see every CG screen you spent with the girls by save and load the game before Sayori’s suicide attempt. At the end of the game, Sayori would acknowledge your attempt into try to make everyone happy and realize how special you the player are and this club represent. I guess that is consider the true happy ending but is sad yet unique it is that not always there is a satisfied ending to fix, but at the same time they could add a hard choice by removing their self-awareness in order to live a happy lives, ignorance is bliss.

END OF SPOILER: Continuation
You can add mods apparently if you like to add the fun of hanging out your girls and explore the world together which it adds more worth in the game. For a free game I say is pretty good to have given that if you play like 4 hrs and you are done. Is an adorable horror aspect of the game which you will find it amusing to play it. I also would recommend to get the soundtrack is pretty good and good to support the team.

Food for Thought Review:

When I first heard of this I thought someone made this as a joke, but if you read who publish this it’s the actual KFC Company who approve of this. I had to find the time to play this and thankfully it’s short but by god they really put the effort into this game.

I’m not exaggerate when I said this that they really do put the effort off of this silly idea of Colonel Sanders making the protagonist’s senpai love interest. The whole concept is so dumb and all the characters in it is so cliché I had the most fun playing it, I’m not joking. You have your typical passionate protagonist, your best friend, the bullies who one of them is a tsundere, a professor who is a dog and finally my favorite the “student” background nobody cares that everyone picks on the poor guy! Of course, the main focus is you and your senpai the Colonel himself trying to pass the school with him and have him notice you along the way. It is such a joyful two hour experience game that all the typical tropes of a Dating-Simulator game in a visual novel genre just hits a smile on my face.

This game made Colonel like a god visiting your school, everyone is admiring him and everyone wants to be the best chef in the world including making the Colonel finally notice one of them. Every KFC reference is there making you think is some subliminal message game to buy more KFC chicken which the game winks at it in a jokeful way. I love the anime look of the game, the music is my top highlight of the game like dear lord they made some good soundtrack off of it I actually don’t mind getting the soundtrack from the game.

There are some endings depends of how close you were with your senpai, but the rest is a bit linear which I don’t mind. The only two small nitpicks is that you can’t save whenever you want like in any visual novel game, the game saves it automatically within each chapter but is short so don’t worry about it. The loading time is a bit long for a visual novel but again those are just nitpicks. You won’t expect much from this game since is free and an innocent game about making the colonel notice you, it is all. Is a fun two hour experience that might interest you for a good wholesome laugh and that’s about it. I do recommend this game and see for yourself if this game is really finger licking good to experience tasting it.

Food for Thought

When I first read the title it and description it sounded interesting and I was looking forward into reading this piece of literature. Though my expectation was a bit high given how the writing was mostly basic for my taste. Is not to say I find the reading unenjoyable oh no. It was entertaining for some parts but ultimately it felt like I was reading someone who just got started making a text-based game. The ideas were pretty interesting like the mechanical bird, the professor, the hooded figure, but it left out something wanting more that it wasn't filling enough to feel satisfied.

Maybe is just me getting critical about this game since I've played choice of robots where you do feel a connection with your robot partner and the characters. This one feel definitely feels like the developer is starting to learn about text-based games according to how many games he made from his language games and this one is his first try. I don't know if the developer is trying to give us a choice base system which sort of falls flat given how you can go back to your choices anyway in some of them. Perhaps he is making like a "traveling" options where you can "visit" places you've been and experience the world around you, that would be a unique and interesting system to put.

This is one of those games where I don't want to downvote nor upvote, think of it as a practice run for the genre and the price people pay I say wait for a sale and if you are into the victorian steampunk genre and is interest in text-base games. I say give this one a try to dip your toe in this on it for a crash course, it is still interesting to look at. I wanted more of this idea to flourish but it needed some polish.

I am starting to like the cyberpunk genre because it is getting to the point where fiction becomes reality and this one is no exception to the close reality we are facing today. This is a reality where we never ask for this and to see what will this game be in store for us?

Summary

The name Deus Ex Human Revolution is a very fitting title, because in the year 2027 (eight more years till we have cool augmented limbs!) in Detroit where in this peak moment in human history, humanity has finally excel its technology into becoming themselves as gods with cybernetic enhancements. Now we can outperform our bodies into achieving greater feats than we ever accomplish, but are we ready for that technology? Should we use this technology rather than could? Is becoming a self-destructive machine better than being human? These are the questions that I love exploring where Detroit are fighting the rights for having augs or restrict the technology in the UN summit they are having.

You are Adam Jensen, a head security guard hired by David Sarif at Sarif industry. Where one day a scientist named Megan was at the pinnacle of discovery something revolutionary to help the augs become more human and don’t have to use neuropozyne to keep the body from rejecting the augs installed. Which also has an addictive property to it, but that changed when Megan and her team got kidnapped and you tried to save her but some terrorist augs wreck your body in the process. Now, six months later with a new body, you must track who ever cause the attack and see if Megan and her team are alive or dead, including getting caught in the fire between political turmoil; this is Deus Ex.

Technology Evolves Us

The game is whatever you want to be, your playthrough can either be pacify stealth or loud by killing people or a mix of just killing people stealth fully. I’m more of a stealth person so getting through levels was a challenge especially how much fun the augmented system works. You can get augmented skills by leveling up getting Praxis and you choose which upgrades you want. It really does not make you feel like a chore of getting more Praxis, or this augment skill is essential to complete a certain mission, oh no. It really made you experiment your play style through the levels of which way you want to do it to complete the level. If you see a high ledge to get to but don’t have the skill to do it but want to hack your way go ahead. There are many ways to get to and the game does not punish you for doing it.

You can read people’s emails and find interesting dialogue but they won’t be too happy about it. If a fight breaks out sadly there is not a lot of combat upgrades for those skills, but it compensate the amount of weapons you have at your disposal. Not to mention I never get tired of execute either passive or lethal combat at the enemies and see the amazing animation each of which is perfectly executed. You have side missions which I recommend you do it all because all of those extra bits of lore from the world and extra skills for leveling up is worth it. I didn’t have much of a problem with much of anything because each problem can be solve with an aug. Except at times I get some hiccup bug when I saved on a file and when I get caught and boot up my save file, somehow the guards would automatically know my position and alert everyone which is so annoying to complete a passive play through achievement.

Am I a Man or a Machine?

Now, time for my favorite part when doing these reviews, analyze the lore and the symbols!
By god this game made a good job portraying a realistic approach in the fights about either restricting this technology or let corporations manage the selling of augmentation to civilians. The level of detail from the environment and the expressions the NPC makes of how good writing they use. As you walk in the streets of Detroit and later Hengsha you get to see how people react to this new technology. Whether is positive or negative they all have reasons to fear or to find hope again. Let me start with the pro-augs perspective starting with David Sarif. Thank heavenly god Eidos Montreal did not create the same EEEEEEVIL CEO that just wants money, take over the world and be an all Captain Planet generic villain. This is an example of how you make a good CEO character, despite him of course being the head of Sarif to make a profit, he actually adds more of his motive of why he is doing all of this. Granted I’m not saying he is a saint, he does ask you to do very questionable tasks, but he had reasons by trying to de-escalate the tension with the anti-augs. He has perplex motives albeit bad once, but is enough to give him a pass that his best intention is for the sake of progress and for humanity.

Is the same with everyone else in this universe including the anti-augs specifically the organization Humanity Front. They do give you legitimate reasons that sometimes too much power is a bad thing and there are good reasons of being human is not a bad thing. It can sometimes lead to psychological changes to your mind of the perspective of just want one rather than need it. I even love that the Humanity Front is basically base on some Christian inspired organization that just tells people to don’t reject God’s gift. Is the same with different groups who are similar to real life, how the news is presenting to us as distorted news and an Alex Jones knock off of a conspiracy theorist. How corporatism divides classes from the rich getting the good edge in control evolution while the poor gets nothing, especially how some bosses force people to have augs for profit. Everything that you hear and make conversation with these people you might have mix conflicts of what to do when the time comes.
SPOILER MENTIONING THE ENDING BUT NOT REALLY SPOILING WHAT HAPPEN AT THE ENDING.

Even the ending where you choose which is the right call the game is essentially telling you that there is no right or wrong answers because all of those choices are a mix of all of the above. The way how Adam explains the philosophy behind these endings is really unique and it doesn’t make you feel like “the world has ended for the worse.” No, it tells you how life isn’t easily given a good or bad results; it’s up to humans to decide the fate of this technology not just one guy playing hero.
Is the same goes with Adam himself, questioning whether this augment body really belongs to him or is he just a weaponize tool for Sarif industry to use? Although, is kind a funny where when he does get his new body after six months of hospitalize he just goes straight to work without batting an eye, like the world really has normalize the idea of augmented your body; losing a few limbs is like having a paper cut. Besides that you get to decide the response for what Adam will say to people you interact. Which I really do like the voice actor on Adam, since it has that raspy voice that is not melodramatic but have enough emotions to not calling him an actual robot.

The bonds with his co-workers are pretty memorable and I can’t believe I’m saying it but Francis might be my favorite character hanging out with Adam. He is the head security of Sarif industry and your communicator for delivering missions. Despite at the beginning which I hated his attitude toward Adam he does have a soft spot with him and the witty comebacks Adam delivers to him whenever he mocks him is pretty funny. You might say they have a frie-enemy bond where they have to like each other because if they don’t they’ll get fired from their boss.

Tell me when this is over

This game deserves a 10/10 a great game to a great moral teaching of the technology we will have in the future which is not too far off in fact.

If RockStar Studio ever make a GTA 6 they need to go back to Vice City, or at least back to the 60s-80s era, because you can’t enjoy life without your Hawaiian shirt and your Cheetah model car while playing “You’re out of Touch.” This was an enjoyable experience for me.

Vice City The City of Corruption

Originally this game was meant to be an expansion to GTA 3 but I guess they decided to make it its own game. Heck, if you played GTA 3 you notice on a billboard said something about “see you in Vice City.” Which means they know they are making this game pretty soon. Same thing with the upcoming San Andreas but that I will talk about in a later time. I will say they did a good job making the city into a Miami inspired 80s style to it, because of how the buildings look, the people, the atmosphere everything; I love it! While GTA 3 made you feel like you were born in the early 2000s this one made you feel like you were meant to be born in the 80s for how the city made you feel. Heck, some of the old characters from GTA 3 comes back while you play on the radio puts you in a good mood and you will get attach to them even more. How about the story, is it any good?

The story is fairly good mainly for the main character. You don’t play as this silent shell of a character you played back in the third. Instead you played as Tommy Vercetti, an Italian who had just got off from jail and now working with of course the mafia to go to Vice City and do some jobs for his boss. But something went wrong with a trading deal so now he has to sort this mess out. He is certainly more flesh out of course but I am more focus on the side characters that got more personality than the third. They were okay on the previous game but they were sort of just the quest dumper where you just appear to them nodding and they will be like “hey I need you to do something for me, let me explain this and go on your way.” No, this time the side characters have a bit more in depth of the situations and Tommy interacting with them.

I do like most of the side characters but one that I have to nitpick about is Lance Vance. You are his partner throughout most of the game and while I can see why people like him even I…only at the beginning. Because later on I hate him throughout half of the game and you will know why, infact I will let Ken explain this since he is my true favorite character. “He’s neurotic, he’s insecure, he’s self-centered-the guy’s an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!” Well said Ken, hell here is a small future description of Lance why I don’t like him as much. Everyone:….. Lance: NOBODY RESPECTS ME TOMMY!

The missions are fun and creative but there is one thing they can erase it from existence-the air missions. F*&# the air missions especially on PC, those are one of the worse controllers I have ever played on PC for how misplace they are on the keyboards. I rather replace those with the boat missions than those. Same problems with the weapons, god help you if you have an assault rifle you are station to that spot like a tank while enemies shoot at you. They have add some stuff to the game; like you can buy property, buy some food for health which is pretty a minor feature, you can enter more buildings than just a background building and finally clothes to wear!

Two big problems I have for this game besides the air missions are the motor cycle’s sensitivity. One smallest bump will send you flying high off the road and you think Red Dead Redemption 2 have its problem with horse riding mechanic? Not to mention if you small ten inches from a building you will lose health which does not make sense. Thank god the police chase sequence is not so much a pain in the ass because back in the third, police would get close to you no matter how fast they go and they will smash you supersonic speed leaving your vehicle fly off! No, they tweak that part though I can’t tell but instead of police ramming your vehicle is the people who will. Again, is it me but every time I am driving normally some ass*$%^ would randomly bump me side by side for random reasons. I don’t know is the Ai but oh boy the Ai in this are absolutely dumb. Which is my second problem of the game.

You will have Ai partners mainly with Lance are at times troublesome because they will move exactly how you move, but is not bright enough that if there is an object like a wall in their way they are stuck. They won’t move aside just run through a wall. Oh and please don’t get me started with your “mafia crew.” When you buy your asset buildings you will spawn mafia members to “protect” your assets by shooting close by rival gang members, but they won’t follow you or you try to recruit some members into your car for the mission oh no they will just walk around with no business. If I’ve being chase by cops or rival gang and I land right to my assets for that specific spot missions they won’t appear nor will they cover you. Most useless crew ever. Not to mention how you still couldn’t swim even if you are in MIAMI!?

Everyone know what the Plan is? Final Thoughts?

I may sound like this game is broken but it does not mean I didn’t have fun with it. I love just take my car driving around town listening to music while running over people. It makes me actually feel like an actual 80s mafia member just doing the heck I want in this corrupt sad city. Again the story have been flesh out but not “masterpiece.” I like the improvement of the gameplay especially I can jump out of my vehicle when is on fire. So this one just made me feel like if Rock Star is really concern of making a GTA 6 because of current political climate. Why not go back to simple times and just let loose in Vice City Baby. 8/10

I am very intrigue of this game, the background art is beautiful, music is pretty good and the concept is good. There are sound glitches I come across like the rain overlap when entering a building but other than that it looks promising. It looks like it might be a choice player action but not sure, would be cool but it still got me hook. Don’t mind doing a review of it when it comes out so hope it will look as good as what I played in the prologue.
