Revisiting my childhood has never been better.

Ten years ago, I received my first console from my parents. Packaged with it was .hack G.U/ Rebirth. I played so much of that game, and the games that followed, and the G.U. series has been my favorite ever since. So I might be a little bias as I write this.

.hack has always been known for its dramatic stories that stray a little close to the melodramatic. G.U. is no different, but its loveingly crafted from start to finish. Haseo, as your playable protagonist, grows into being a hero (thank god, he's a bit of an ass in the beginning) and your supporting cast is full of great personalities. You'll have a hard time deciding on who to bring with you every time you venture out.

The updated version released onto the PC is pretty stable, though I did notice that there are times were it will start dropping frames. A quick restart of the game fixes that, and you'll want to play it on the highest settings to see the updated graphics package, though just about any computer can run it. Experience is easy to gain now. You don't have to grind the same area words over and over again, and for those that just want to experience the story, there is cheat mode, which is basically an insta win setting for combat encounters.

If you are looking for a solid JRPG with a lot to offer, look no further. You can't argue with the value of the package (4 games for $49.99, each around 15-20 hours long without attempting to 100% each game). Save data carries over from volume to volume, so that awesome piece of armor you picked up from God Eater at the end of vol. 2? Still on you when you start vol. 3 with some added goodies.

It's good ♥♥♥♥. Play it.
