=======================================After additional 1400+ Extrahours in DbD

Dead by Daylight is a unique horror game that continues to captivate me despite all its challenges. There’s hardly anything quite like it on the market, and the tension between survivors and killers creates a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that makes the game unforgettable. However, this experience is severely tainted by several negative factors, most notably the player community.

The toxic community
One of the game’s biggest flaws is the behavior of a large portion of its player base. The toxic nature of the Dead by Daylight community is a significant issue that often makes playing the game unbearable. As a killer, you frequently have to endure insults and intentional provocation. There's a pervasive culture of “teabagging” and "BM" (bad manners), where survivors aim to humiliate the killer. After matches, the chat is often flooded with toxic messages, which drastically dampen the fun of the game. At times, it feels like the gameplay itself is merely a vehicle for some to vent their frustration or aggression at others.

On the flip side, some killers also ruin the experience for survivors through "tunneling" and "camping." These tactics, where a killer focuses relentlessly on one player or refuses to leave them alone at the hook, completely throw off the balance and fun of the game. This toxic dynamic on both sides makes it hard to enjoy the core mechanics, with personal attacks and frustration taking center stage instead.

Bugs and technical issues
Despite being around for several years, Dead by Daylight is still plagued by numerous bugs that affect gameplay. From clipping glitches, where survivors can suddenly teleport through walls or objects, to matchmaking problems that make balanced matches nearly impossible—these technical issues are frequent and frustrating.

When you're focused on pulling off a strategic escape or chase, these bugs are not only annoying but can ruin the entire experience. Some issues have persisted for months or even years without being addressed, which tests the patience of even the most dedicated players.

Overlapping and loud sounds
A major personal issue for me—and likely for many other players with sensory sensitivities—is the often overwhelming and overlapping sound effects. During intense moments, the game’s audio becomes so loud and chaotic that, as a semi-autistic player, I find it difficult to maintain focus. When frantic music, loud screams, and ambient noises all hit at once, I quickly become overstimulated, causing my concentration to break down. This auditory overload doesn't just make the experience frustrating, it makes it exhausting, which shouldn't be the case in a game.

A certain level of tension and stress is expected in a horror game, but when it becomes nearly impossible to focus due to extreme volume and constant auditory bombardment, the fun starts to fade. A better sound balance or more customization options for specific effects would be a welcome improvement.

Conclusion: A game you love and hate
Despite all these negative aspects—especially the toxic community—I still find myself enjoying Dead by Daylight. The cat-and-mouse gameplay between survivors and killers creates thrilling and nerve-wracking moments that I haven't found in any other game. If you can manage to overlook the toxic dynamics and put up with the bugs, the game can still be a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, it’s these very flaws—the community, the technical issues, and the overwhelming sound design—that make the experience unnecessarily difficult and frustrating. Yet, somehow, the game has a strange pull that keeps bringing me back even after almost a whole year. Maybe it's the hope that one day things will improve. Until then, Dead by Daylight remains a game I both love and hate.

:steambored:
