Hey, do you really need me to tell you why New Vegas is amazing? It's one of the best RPGs ever written, and the best Fallout game by far.
Play it, if you haven't. Take the direct route to New Vegas, through the Quarry.

This game hsa a lot of reviews saying that you should just "go play [x]", with [x] filling in for other games of its type, and that's just not fair, nor is it accurate.
There are other games that have similar structure to this one, yes, and there are arguably games that do individual mechanics present in this game better, but this game is more than worthy of a space in your library. The visual design, as well as the sound design, do wonders for making the game appealing and lighthearted, the plot more of a campy, light fantasy danger sort of justification for the game's real strength.

It's a pretty standard top-down roguelite dungeon crawl sort of a game, with the ability to improve the gear you can start the level with, or starting from a later area- I've yet to properly explore all of it, but it seems to have just enough depth to make it a fantastic game to play when you want a slightly less intense experience.
That being said, it's still challenging- part of this comes from the somewhat clunky, unpolished aspect of the game, something that I'll certainly note as a detriment, but that part isn't so large as to become overly frustrating in my experience. Enemies, items, your own health, everything is conveyed to you very clearly, making the challenge more of a sense of using everything you have to your advantage, rather than having to guess what certain things do.

(If you've ever been annoyed with games like Binding of Isaac having items you have to try and guess the effect of, this game may be for you.)

The item system is interesting- rather than the standard sense of being able to collect everything you see and making your character a nightmare mess of visuals a la BoI, or even just having a variety of weapons you can switch between like Enter the Gungeon, A Wizard's Lizard opts for more of a modular setup- each item falls into a specific slot, and you can only use one item in a slot at a time.
You can't carry, for instance, the Royal Dagger and the Deminion Sword- both are equipped to the weapon slot, so you'd have to choose. The same goes for the various armours, though you have more than one armour slot depending on where on your body it goes. It's interesting, and allows for a better feeling of choosing how you want to play your current run.

Overall, it's a good game. I'd give it a solid 7/10, with most of the detracted points being taken off due to the unpolished nature, or the fact that mechanics aren't super well conveyed in the tutorial.
I'd recommend it heartily to anyone looking for more top-down dungeon crawl goodness.
