Personally, I dislike this game. Now don't let that get you down, because there's really nothing wrong with the game itself.

If anything, if you're like me and you expect gameplay somewhat like turn-based dragon age, welp, you're looking in the wrong place. I think the best way to describe this game would be to compare it to darkest dungeon, but with better graphics and more confusion. And 3D. But of course, still the same amount of micromanagement, perma-death of characters, stress, and the game simply hating you. Another way to describe this game would be.... say... "turn-based dark souls". I think that should say enough.

But hey, if you /are/ interested in a hardcore turn-based 3D game, then here's some stuff. This game allows you to choose between like, 6 factions, (two of which are dlc only but it won't tell you until you try to choose them), and build a warband with the units from that faction. With your warband, you go on missions, which are basically "matches", where characters take turns doing actions (order is determined by stats n' stuff) and you need to eliminate all enemies; there are also some side-objectives. This game has the kind of combat where you left click twice to attack, yet it is one of the most complicated combat systems I've seen, you know? Chances and stats and stuff? And targeting stuff? Ye. But don't expect to just go from mission to mission, left clicking enemies in a strategic way, no no no. You gotta assign stats n' stuff. You gotta equip yo units with stuff. You gotta let yo bois heal. You gotta hire new bois. You gotta manage "wyrdstones". And even in combat you gotta manage like 4 different resources per character every turn, like, no matter what. Basically it's hardcore af is what I'm saying.

So ye. If you're up for a game that will take a while to get used to but then, like, you'll be used to it so you'll be like, liking it and stuff, and then you git gud n' stuff, and start understanding all the complicated stuff and... stuff... then ye. This is the 3D dark hardcore darkest dragon age dungeon board game for you.

TLDR; It's complicated af, so only buy it if you know what it's like and want to get invested into it. Like, real deep n' stuff.

Early Access Review
First off, do not buy this.

Now for the reasons:

1. "WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME ." This message has been present and completely unchanged for about 3 years. I bought this game in hopes that it would improve over time but it has not. Not at all.

2. Many, many issues. The main reason steam wouldn't refund my purchase of this game is because my playtime was too significant, yet I have played the game for a total of about thirty minutes. The other 6 hours of "playtime" I have were all spent troubleshooting. Yes, I did manage to make the game playable, but it was not worth it at all thanks to reasons #3 and #4. (For the record, steam was justified in refusing my refund and I am fine with that, no offense to steam, just to this game and its devs)

3. It's just a bad game. DayZ has barely any content to speak of other than the massive and rather good looking map (other than the buildings, which look like crap). The nature is nice, which is why I now play this game occasionaly as a "walk in the woods simulator" - because that's pretty much all it is. Sure, hardcore DayZ gamers easily acquire helicopters and assault rifles and ghuilie suits, but to what avail? To die to other hardcore gamers do it all again? If you are not the kind of person who looks up how to get the best things in a game quickly, then all you will accomplish in this game is to find some nice clothes, some canned food you can't eat, maybe a crappy weapon, and then you'll die.

4. Hardcore. If you die in this game, you lose everything. If you log out of this game, you lose everything (not sure if this is a feature or just a common glitch). If you're not a pro at this game, you will die. You will lose everything. There is no way of making permanent progress on this game other than getting better at it, which, once again, will give you nothing. If you want a hardcore game, play something like dark souls. Or, you know, any other game that actually has content worth playing.

So yeah, please don't buy this unless you're completely sure you'd enjoy it, or if you intend on trying it out then getting a refund. There are many great games out there for the same and even lower prices, so please go find them.

PS: You can't have two people on the same IP playing on the same DayZ server, so forget playing with people who live with you.
