Even though the developers completely butchered this game's reputation when it launched on PC, they really worked on it and fixed most of the issues people had with it, and at the moment I'm really enjoying the sandbox world they've created. The story may be lacking the finesse and gripping nature of most AAA games, but it's a Just Cause game; You didn't come for the story, you came to blow ♥♥♥♥ up, and see the beautiful world around you go up in flames while you pester civilians and mercenary goons alike by tethering them and their vehicles to various surfaces or making people fly thousands of miles into the sky, causing chaos and destruction wherever you go, and that's something this game still brilliantly excels at, especially with the new weather and tether features. All in all the game really is a blast to play, but I'd still recommend buying it on sale.

The scenery is great, but the lack of animals is a big let down. Makes the map feel very empty and unrealistic compared to a real African hunting experience.

A Great Simulation Experience

Having played a lot of simulators on and off of Steam, I can definitely say that this is an excellent simulation game. I ran into a couple of bugs and didn't have the greatest start to the game, as I was stuck with an endless loading screen when I booted up the game for the first time, leaving me very annoyed at first, and actually contemplating a refund... But oh boy am I glad I didn't refund it...

The moment I loaded in, I was completely immersed into a beautiful, huge, living world, full of animals and breathtaking landscapes, open for me to explore and hunt in. From the get-go, I could see that there is an intense learning curve to this game that is difficult to grasp at first because it simulates hunting so realistically. But once you play for a couple of hours you start to understand the dynamics of the game and start learning the different animal's behaviour in their given environments. 11 Hours in I can also tell that you'll need to play for a very long time to become a master at hunting in the game though. Unlocking skills and perks does take long, and making money isn't easy at all, especially considering that some items in-game are very overpriced, like the lures, some of which cost the same as some of the guns you can buy.

As a South African who's been on several hunting excursions, I can say that the simulated animals seem to behave very similar to their real-world counterparts, and of course coming from Africa, I especially love the Vurhonga Savanna DLC, that in my opinion simulates the African bushveld very accurately, except for the fact that there is a definite lack of some African wildlife that does take away from the expierence of the DLC as a whole.

Most of the DLC simply should have been included in the game originally, which is a big mark down for me. I mean buying DLC that only adds 3 different coloured variants of a single ATV, and buying a weapons pack that only adds about 3 or 4 weapons to the game each, is not great at all. I can somewhat understand the different reserves being behind a pay-wall, but the ATV's, Tripods, Tents etc, should really have been included as updates to the base game. The game can't be fully enjoyed without buying most of DLC's, because they just add so much to it.

All things considered, the graphics are stunning, the hunting and animals are realistic, the reserves are beautiful and the game is very fun and challenging to play. So I definitely recommend getting it, but on sale, when you can buy the DLC's for much lower prices.

Happy Hunting!

Farming Made Fun!?

If you've ever played a farming simulator and thought that the game was missing a crucial element of reality and the sensation of being an actual farmer (looking at you FS17 -_-), then Farmers Dynasty can certainly fill that need. Even though the game is still in early access it certainly has the potential to be a brilliant game and I personly believe that the game is already an improvement on the many other farming simulators out there.

Pro's

The game feels very full and open, driving around the countryside, past the farmlands and barns, really makes you feel like you're actually there taking in the fresh country air. It's as realistic as it can be without it becoming too boring and having to actually repair and constantly work on your farm and provide for your family, certainly makes the game feel much more lifelike, realistic and very enjoyable. I actually liked helping out neighbours and growing my social standing with the community, it did feel like I was growing to be part of their town, although I do feel they should compensate you a little more than some old machinery for all the work you have to do (which can be a lot in some cases). I got the game on the Steam sale for 140 ZAR ($10) which some might feel is a lot for an indie game, but having played around 20 hours at this stage and not even begun to start farming (I was working on my house a lot xD), I feel it's not too bad a price for the amount of content you get, and as I said before, to me this game is already an improvement on most if not all simulators of the genre which you would usually spend a bit more money on and yet doesn't feel nearly as realistic...

Cons

Don't get me wrong though the game is definitely not without its faults... Graphically the game looks very pleasant and I haven't had much trouble in running it yet, besides one crash while fertilising my fields and the distance rendering can do with an improvement, (I run it on a GTX 1070), there are also the occasional dips in framerate especially while driving any vehicle in game. The AI is still very "stiff" and character models seem to be used repeatedly, sometimes the character's dialogue repeats itself and the voice acting definitely sounds weird, with most people (including yourself) sounding quite robotic, (it does give you a laugh though :P). The character animations are also very wonky and while speaking the characters mouths aren't moving, (I believe they'll most probably fix this by the time of full release though). The train going around town is also just made up of only the front end of a modern looking high-speed train, that I feel doesn't really fit with the rest of the scenery (even though the game does play off in modern times it tends to look silly) and having played it for this long now I really feel they can make the starting equipment and vehicles a bit faster because getting new gear is VERY expensive and it does make the game drag a little.

Conclusion

And yet even after all these faults, I can't not love this game. It's really enjoyable and fun to play, hence the 'recommended' rating, if the devs continue to work on it though. It's still an early access title and I do believe many of the faults mentioned will be ironed out in future, at least I really hope so. The game is certainly a great idea and I could see it easily beat many of its competitors if optimized and I just can't wait to see what the future of Farmers Dynasty holds.

Cool story, great adventure, fun and creative weapon and character customisation, overall it's a great game, you will most likely enjoy hours of fun playing. Bethesda is pulling an EA with the price of the DLC though, buy them on sale only or for much cheaper prices on third party sites.
