If you can stomach the most god-awful voice acting you have ever heard in your life for the first half hour or so, it gets better trust me. The rest of the game is actually pretty fun and well done. Not quite Until Dawn, but enjoyable enough.

It's a classic. Not Incredible story-wise but the gameplay mechanics always have you on the edge of your seat. And for God's sake do not play on hard difficulty.

The whole game is just a huge gorefest. Extremely violent, encourages aggression in children and desensitizes youth to horror and disturbing content.

Why aren't there more games like this?

Early Access Review
I had my eye on this game for a while, but i basically bought it the second i found out BLUE FREAKING STAHLI WAS IN THE EARLY ACCESS TRAILER! HELLS YEA!

But seriously, I want to provide an unbiased review, although it is somewhat hard to since the game isn't out of early access. There are still lots of features under development.

The way this game works is in "runs", similar to a game like temple run or Agar.io. You play and progress within each run, but you earn credits that can be spent upgrading your perks and ship for the next run, so you are constantly progressing both in short runs and the long run (hehe see what i did there).

The game will bring you to a new area each time you hyperjump, and once you exhaust the resources in that place you jump again to a new area. At the end of each set of areas is a hyper drive that will jump you to a new sector, filled with lots of new areas.

CONS:
-The way the game works can be sort of frustratingly unforgiving. You run until your ship explodes, and you lose all upgrades on your ship you gained during that run; for example if you fully upgraded your gatling's critical hit chance mod, your next run you will lose it, even if you spent a lot of time and resources on getting it.
-Although you can keep your credits at the end of each run, you cannot save them up in the long haul. If you don't spend your credits before your next run, you lose everything. I learned this the hard way and accidentally wasted 5600 credits because i was trying to save up for the next ship. This makes saving up for a new ship very hard, as you must gain all the credits for it in one run.
-Progression takes a lot of time. A LOT. Although I like this because it lets me get a lot of playtime out of the game, some people might be frustrated from it.
-By definition, this game is described as a rogue-like shooter, in other words you're basically a bandit and everyone hates you. The majority of ships will try to attack you even from slight provocation, and some from no provocation at all. You have to be careful who you approach.

PROS:
-Amazing gameplay mechanics. The combat is very fluid and fast paced, and i found my heart was racing during some battles. Lots of strategy can be applied if you're smart about how you approach your enemies, which is fun as well.
-Lots of diversity in environments
-Very in-depth weapon, healing, shielding, and combat mechanics. I particularly like how your ship can have small parts damage which effect different parts of your ship. This forces you to strategize which part to use your limited resources on and fix, and it also sobers you up to the combat very quick. Don't go into combat without carefully evaluating the threat.
-Each run has something different in it, the game will constantly add new things in for you to experience which makes every time a fresh experience.
-Crazy graphics. I have a lenovo gaming laptop which runs at about 45 FPS on High graphics, but you dont need an amazing computer to run this game and be immersed. Even on the very lowest settings this game is pure eyecandy. Sometimes i play it just to drool over the universe and lighting.
-Constant leveling keeps gameplay fresh, along with progressively harder sectors as you advance within a run, keeping it challenging.
-Resource gathering makes the game very satisfying when leveling up, especially when you spent a lot of time on whatever it is you gathered.

EARLY ACCESS CONS THAT WILL BE FIXED:
-Not much in terms of a storyline. There's some lore which is cool but really its just running and dying over and over again.
-Only 2 ships so far
-Not much ship customization
-The cockpit of the first person view is not dynamic. None of the HUD's or controls will change based on health, damage, weaponry, etc.
-HUD for both views will only dissapear completely, you cannot choose which options to get rid of, which annoyed me when i wanted to get rid of some unnecessary distractions.

BUGS:
-The crosshair sometimes sticks which, in the middle of combat can really destroy you.
-Framerate drops which aren't very common but still sometimes happen, especially right after or before a jump.
-Primary weapons on the underside of your ship will dissapear for a split second before changing to whatever weapon you changed to. Your primary weapons will not all appear under your wings, which looks kinda stupid at first.
-Collision detection is just a tiny bit off, so you have to give your ship a little more space than you think you'll need between objects.

In the end, this game is not perfect right now, but it's on the right track to get there. It's more than worth the price for the features and graphics, and the bugs are mostly under control. I definitely recommend this game to people who like space shooters and flying games, it's very immersive.

Also the cheeky onboard AI makes me giggle a lot. Please put more lines in for him.

Waited 7 years for sequel.
Sequel is actually prequel.
That means that Jackknife is probably still in it.
Not buying sequel.
