I already talked about how i love Resident Evil 4 to bits and pieces(became one of my many favourite games of all time),so imagine my suprise and EXCEEDED astonishment when i saw the sequel for that game - Resident Evil 5.
To say that the trailers for this game blew my mind is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ UNDERSTATEMENT!!!8D
Everything to the graphics,story and locations was enough to send me into a full blown OBSESSION over this game(and i didn't even own a PS3 back then).I watched Let's Plays of this game NUMEROUS times,i had DREAMS about playing this game,hell this particular RE game,is what caused me to read about EVERY single bit of lore to the franchise there was and by the time i finally got this game,i knew EVERYTHING there was to know about it XD
I was BEYONG gleeful when i actually got to play this game.The way how the game looked like with a new graphical engine,almost made me tearful from happiness :').The amount of enemies here and how they act way differently from the Ganados in 4,the vast array of WEAPONRY that was present here(i maybe wrong,but i'm gonna go ahead and say,that this game has the LARGEST arsenal of weapons out of any RE game 8D),the humongous and mind-blowing bosses of this game(Wesker wasn't particularly huge,but the way he moved and dodged was MADDENING 8D) and i can go on and on and on XD.
The amount of extra chapters has also been extended - the Gold Edition of this game added 2 extra scenarios - Lost In Nightmares and Desperate Escape.That adds up to an already extensive main campaign with extra bits and pieces of lore behind those chapters.Unlockable are PLENTIFUL - weapons,costumes,characters,all that is enough to extend your replay value by many hours.
Of course,there were some minuses to this game.One,while the control layout is pretty much the same as RE4,some button changes may confuse starting players,so it's better to first check the button layout before starting your playthrough.Second,the partner AI is ATROCIOUS by all standarts - it'll certainly make it difficult to pass through with an AI as dumb as rocks on modes like Veteran or Professional(trust me,is speak from experience).
Mercenaries Mode is back too!Since the Gold Edition is finally available on the PC versions of this game,this game ha sa total of 3 Mercenaries Modes - Normal(with story centered characters ala Chris,Sheva,Jill and Wesker),No Mercy(where there are a TON of enemies on the screen at the same time,making survival difficult) and Mercenaries Reunion(where there are old veteran characters returning,as well as side characters Josh and Excella being playable).Adding that,you've got 3 modes to play around with.
This is a game that i hold close to my heart,ieven with it's own problems.I think even if 10 years pass,i'll still enjoy this game to no end 8D
