Phenomenal. This was the release I've been looking forward to the most, and I'm glad that McMillan chose to take his time rather than rushing it out for the 31st December.
There is enough content to keep a BOI fan occupied for hours upon hours.
The difficulty spike is real and with some balancing of items, it can be fair to say that the broken runs are harder to come by, but there is more than enough broken things to unlock that will keep you thoroughly entertained.

10/10, happy Steve

Great game, easy to get to grips with. Not completely sold on if it's worth the money but I have enjoyed it.

I'm going to admit that previously I didn't recommend this game. However, I revise my review and now feel like I can recommend this game. Over the last year this game has made huge steps and no longer fully lives up to the memes.
I enjoy this game alot and I think if you give it a chance, you will too.

Yes, it's a still buggy here are there, yes there are balancing issues and yes the game can seem grindy at times, but it's a vast improvement.

My opinions on the design of the characters has never changed, I think the devs do a great job with the licenses killers and I think their own creations are even better.

I would like to see more objective wise, I think once you've finished your 100,000th generator you're good....

A strange one this, as it's both addictive yet slightly boring after a while. Annoyingly difficult but challenging enough to grip you and make you want to play more. I haven't completed the game yet, I have merely 'Lost the game' but it gets my vote. Not one that will get hours of gameplay, but if you like simple platform games with a challenge, this may be for you.

There's not alot you can say about this game, other than the simplicity of it is genius. Highly addictive and somewhat challenging, though my only peeve is that the Adventure becomes tedious very quickly.

Worth a buy though.

I always was a huge fan of The Chaos Engine back in the Commodore Amiga 500 days. I thought the Music was fantastic, very steampunk and in some parts intimidating, the gameplay was enjoyable and simple to understand, the characters were clever and well designed and the worlds were also very well designed. The story is easy to understand and plays well through the campaign. This re-release is about as good as it gets as far as The Chaos Engine is concerned, they have correctly identified the positives in the game, such as the Music, and amplified them to be better on newer systems, the controls are smooth and simple, as was the case back on the old Amiga, the achievements are entertaining and though there may be a small glitch when it comes to fully upgrading your character, I would strongly recommend this game to anybody out there who a) Wants a challenge, this game is tough as nails. b) Enjoys the typical run and gun style game. and c) Want a nostalgia trip.

I have played the Co-op mode through Steam and it is alright, does take a while to adjust to the slight delays but soon it wears off and plays very well. Those of you who remember this game will know that the co-op mode was always difficult to follow and takes alot of practice, I regularly play the game with my borther over Steam and we do enjoy the challenge.

10/10
