the best way to put this game is unbalanced. which is the point.
until you notice that if you are a new player you are dealing with people who arnt new and have played the game non stop and got alot of the OP cards New players still need to unlock, there is no rank or balance to make it a fair fight but the draft mode which then becomes luck of what cards you get, and knowlage. which is fine until you also notice you need to play the game for tickets to play that game mode. meaning you will be painstakingly going against extreme try hards, ( who have no knowlage you are new, and if they do they will smile knowing ). without player or rank balance. this game is not new player friendly.

unless if you are a masocist. in that case join the party

Otherwise the gameplay is great, and pay to win

i don't usually do reviews but i would like to start off here.

before we start i would like to say i have played all the "this is the police" games and aware of alot of the mechanics, if there is something im wrong about or missed please do let me know.
and at the time of this review the achivment says im currently in the 8% of players who have finished the game at the time of this review

after playing the first TITP (this is the police) i enjoyed the game and believed that if they were to make a sequel what mechanics they could do, after playing the seconds one i was very happy about all the new mechanics and how your cops had each skill making them easier to attach to.

( spoilers) Story: the idea of the game is a crime lord has taken over the town causing key characters to be loyal to him and even has the police on his side, except you. you're "rebel cops" are loyal to the law, but currently doing that illegality.
so the concept is to kind the crime boss and gather enough evidence so when he does (if he does) get's arrested you and the rest of the police will be safe.

the game is extremely linear, is this bad? depends, linear story's often have more detail in their missions or progress in general while open world or branching paths are more for player freedom and playability.

it should be known that rebel cops is a "spin off game" to the this is the police series, meaning you do meet Warren Nash / Jack Boyd ( but very rarely mentioned )

i think the story is great and the way its done was able to introduce you to its story easy.

Gameplay:

when playing the second one i was very interested in how they introduced the combat missions and believed they did a good job.

well that is where this game attempts to make that more central.
personally it was not very hard to understand the mechanics because i already played This is the police 2 and understood the abilities and mechanics off the bat, in this game its very simple and makes it so people who might be new to the series can have a understanding and not overwhelmed at what is infront of them.

it was interesting to see how they made it so 10 abilities are from leveling up and you are given the choice between 2 at random.
while the more powerful or game changing abilities are unlocked by a new currency called "rebel points". how you get them is mainly done from arresting criminals ( 4 each ). these significantly help you speed up the game or help with tough situations. my favourite being the "shock and awe" ability arresting every criminal you see in your current vision for every cop, or "overwatch" allowing you to shoot any enemy's that enter any cops sight ( if that cop had a action point left )

Gunplay Gameplay: the gun in rebel cops are expanded upon compared to the second game, revolvers are standard, cheap and "every cops friend" - sure. you then have a pistol which is the revolver but has extra rounds, more accuracy "apparently" and can have a silencer for stealth if you don't feel like you're taser shock fetish won't be enough.

Shotguns - imagine the pistol but you just have limited range, but if you are close enough you are going to gain that extra accuracy ( i think it said it ignored cover but i don't remember that ) - personally i never really found the shotgun that useful as if im close enough with the shotgun the pistol would have the same effect ( then again all my cops did have max accuracy when i used the shotgun ) but you should still use it to flex.

rifles - how to describe this gun? absolutely GOD TIER, this rifle is great because of the bonus accuracy, and don't get me started on putting the scope on this thing, its basically a one hit weapon that almost guarantees the.

and since all weapons do the same damage and the only difference is accuracy, you may as well just use a pistol of some sort to conserve the more expensive ammo for the rifle and shotgun.

Body armour - used to protect you form 2 shots so you can flex without needing to use a medkit

helmet - protects from a single bullet, but since headshots are instant kill in this game. absolutely great to have.

overall - i think the weapons and Armour are great and all are good, the ammo for the better guns are "expensive".

non combat gameplay:

outside of combat you will be spending money on items ( just sell the junk you won't ever need it trust me ).
as i said the game is linear meaning its the same mission after one mission ( apart from one point but thats slightly different ).
missions are straight forward and the side missions offer worthwhile rewards. during this time you will mostly be taking a break and thinking on new ways to improve.

you will also managed you're reputation with the towns folk, having a high reputation is suppose to mean cheaper items in the store and every one in a while a free cop

if you're street reputation is low, people may not trust you and cops may turn against you instead.

negatives: some common complaints are
1, the animations are slow. they are great but slow, i think if they made it so you can queue or switch character while animations are playing would causing a few problems but make the game a little faster and less boring some people

2, "some missions are way too large" - i hear this mainly with the 2nd mansion mission and i have to agree that it did feel like it was extremely large and took a long time to reach a certain point, because of this i ended this mission on turn 95 i think. but most think the rest of balance to a fine degree.

Mentions
" no other mode after finishing the story" now just to clear this. there WAS a update recently where they added "rebel yell mode" where you scavenge and kill enemy's so this is no longer a negative as such.

"the limited saves in combat are annoying" they did a patch where they made it so you can turn off the limited saves in the pause menu so you can keep it on if you want a challenge.

i don't want to go on about every single detail otherwise this review will end up being a guide instead but the game is absolutely great and i think the team have outdone themselves for a spin off game.

i will certainly recommend this spin off game if you light strategy games and recommend you play the rest of the "this is the police" series ( 2 being the best so far )
sorry is this review was not great it is my first.
