I was put on the map somewhere random. I completed the very superficial tutorial and had no real idea what to do and what to expect. Some dude from the neighbouring Parish messaged me and asked me if I needed some help. We chatted every time we were online, he sent me lots of building materials so I could get some progress going or guided me with more specific questions.

Enter my Parish captain. He messages me and is very unfriendly, threatening to throw me out because it's a war parish and he can't use someone with a castle as pathetic as mine. Well, nice introduction. I explained the situation and how I'm not very far in terms of progress, but will try and attempt to satisfy his need for a strong defence.

Couple of weeks later, I get a new message with very unfriendly remarks and again, a threat to kick me out of the Parish, despite me having fulfilled my promise, having kept the Parish clean as best as I could, donating lots of weapons to upgrade the Parish buildings etc. ...

Maybe that's the flow of the game and how it's supposed to go...? I was kinda expecting to have a more relaxed time, taking up more of a supportive role (just like the friend that helped me out in the beginning) and not have such negative and quite frankly dissatisfied exchanges.

So yea, don't really know what'll happen if I get kicked out of the Parish, but once that happens I'm pretty sure I'll stop playing, sadly.

I grew up playing this and Stronghold... First on my dad's laptop, then I got my own little PC and they were the only games I had. I really enjoyed playing after school, creating your own castles, getting a working economy up, defending from enemy attacks...

I really enjoyed the atmosphere it provided, and the animations were so cool back then.... watching a baker bake bread, watching a lumberjack cut down a tree, the fletcher fletching a bow or making a crossbow.... I could sit there and watch it for hours. The music is very special too, it really adds to the atmosphere and makes the game even more enjoyable. I also really loved the different units and their diverse quotes, it made them so distinctive and it made them feel more lively.

So yea, I'm really having strong nostalgia when I see this game, I still play from time to time and it's just so relaxing, even if 7 enemies attack you all at once and try to break your defenses. Although this game is really old already it's a MUST HAVE for any RTS game fan.

This is my first attempt at writing a longer review for a game so it might not be that perfect, but I'll try anyway!

I'm in love with this game. I mean it. The whole game is just perfect to me. Put aside minor bugs like Roach doing stupid stuff, being difficult to control sometimes, some Quest location "bugs" (where the quest marker is somewhere completely different to where you actually have to go) and you have yourself a nice game that won't get boring.

There certainly are some reasons why this game won over 800 awards, some of them are: the graphics and atmosphere are out of this world, you really build up a bond with the characters and sometimes end up in an emotional dilemma because of decisions you made or have to make; if you don't feel with the characters you are a cold-hearted idiot. The soundtrack itself is wonderful and fits the game just perfectly as well.

The story, the story is superb, to me no side-quest felt boring, out of place or like it served as a filler. The main story line is very well written, you feel with Geralt, trying to find his daughter and doing anything in the world to find her. What surprised me was how well the character design is, not just on Geralt but also on people like Yennefer, Triss, Ciri herself. I never had such a connection to game character like I do with Geralt in Witcher 3.

The fighting is similar to the one of Skyrim, but it requires a lot more dodging and timing. There are some mods that make fighting a bit more of a challenge, because even on deathmarch it's nothing too hard. You have a crossbow that is miraculously powerful under water, two swords - one for humans and one for monsters - and your signs - Quen (protective shield), Igni (fire), Aard ("air blast"), Yrden (magic trap) and Axii ("mind control") at your disposal. You can brew potions to heal yourself, deal more damage (and much more), brew oils to apply to your swords so you deal even more damage to a certain type of monster or decoctions, a more advantageous and better version of potions with the downside of increasing toxicity quite a bit.

I'm sorry, even after nearly 300 hours I'm absolutely speechless by this game. I will certainly play and replay it for a much longer period. It's some sort of therapy for me, sometimes I'm just walking around, listening to the excellent soundtrack and enjoying the marvellous looks of the game.

The game also offers a lot of free DLC which is mostly cosmetics (like armor or alternative looks for characters) and also has 2 priced ones, Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine which add around 40 hours of gameplay.

Try grabbing it when it's on sale, 20€ for the GOTY is a gift, even the full 60€ feels like too little for what you get.

This game is a little older (2008) but it still has awesome nice graphics, a fair car handling and the team management option is very cool too.

Grab it on humble bundle for free while you still can, it's really worth your time! :)

I've nominated this game for the "Test of Time" Award because I'm not growing tired of it. I've started for the 3rd time and think that this game will be one of my best buddies for the next time. There are plenty of mods and possibilities within the game to customize your gameplay experience, tons of quests, nice landscapes, many awesome caves to explore and also lots of different ways to battle your enemies and different main styles to play the game.

All I can say is that I totally recomment the game for people who look to play a game with an awesome story, nice possibilities to mod/customize the game and have fun playing. There are minor annoying things like a sometimes buggy AI but it's not that much a problem imo.

With Skyrim beeing on Sale now for just 5€ I'd suggest getting it now! :D

I got this game while it was on sale, I started playing and I couldn't stop! I really like all aspects of it, the open world, the "freedom" you have (choosing the quests you want to take), the different weapons and their customizations, all the outposts you can roam...

Like seriously, it's worth its money, Ubisoft did NOT ruin this game.

Although this game is a bit older (2004 I think) it's really great for anger management and for having fun.
You can pee on people to show dominance, too.

Even with further updates to the game, it's rather unplayable to me. Yes, Valve finally adressed the sound issues, yes they finally fixed some animation bugs and added a jitter graph so we're able to see some connectivity problems.

However, over the course of my last 30-40 games of premier, the experience was rather grim and unsatisfying. Still terrible hit registration: people are still walking/jumping/falling while giving me enough hits to kill me, while my hits are not being registered properly. I'm not exeggerating when I say this: it's not just every other game where this happens, it happens every 2nd or 3rd game, sometimes even back to back.

What about server-sided smokes? I thought that was a thing?

I've lost roughly 2k elo in one day because of this and to be honest, I don't really want to give it a try anymore because of how unplayable and random the game feels.

Next topic I'd like to point out and address is the cheating problem. There have been a couple of instances were someone on the enemy team was cheating. I haven't had a cheater as obvious as in the CS:GO days, but it's still noticeable. I'd like to get the Overwatch feature back since I felt like that was a great way to take some workload off of Valve while also working on keeping the environment a better place.
