Its good.

This game used to be very fun, but over time Gaijin has slowly chipped away at a players capability to significantly progress. While lower tiers like 1-Mid IV are still somewhat playable for most factions, the rest of the content is basically walled off by either an unhealthy and borderline obsessive dedication to the game or a pay wall.

I have in the past purchased both premium accounts, golden eagles, and even a few premium vehicles, but this was years ago, and the reason I bought the content was because I enjoyed the game, and the premium vehicles interested me. The last time I purchased any premium vehicle was with the release of the Swedish tech tree, and this was only because I wanted to jump the progression.

If you were to ask me now if I would spend even a dime on this game I would tell you absolutely not. The entire game is designed in a way to draw you to the premium store.

To give you an idea of how rapidly the game has degraded, back in 2019, when I got my first jet for USA after roughly 400 hours of play time (which even still is insane), I had consistently 2 million plus SL and would never have any trouble paying for repairs, as even getting 1 or 2 kills would make it a very very profitable battle, this allowed me to purchase new planes, upgrades and anything else I needed with SL.

I took a break and returned a few years later, and played both a mix of air RB and ground RB, and I am not exaggerating when I say it took me 2 months of grinding the USA ground tree to expend every last SL that I had to my name, and I barely reached mid Tier 4, since I have played on and off for a couple days at a time and probably earned another 100-150 hours, in all that time I have maybe progressed 3 or 4 vehicles, constantly having to use the crutch of my already purchased premium vehicles just to grind enough silver lions to buy and then shelf the new vehicle, as I simply am too much of a casual to be getting the 5-8 kills needed every game just to supplement the cost of taking out more than 2 vehicles to ground RB.

Unfortunately like so many others, Gaijin has turned War Thunder into a market place with a video game attached.
