Simply put, the new progression system is absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Completing a heist rewards ZERO experience, just money. Money alone doesn't get you very far in this game, especially if you aren't completing any challenges for experience to unlock new guns. You can literally load up any heist on overkill, complete said heist and walk away having not even gained a level.

If the item management aspect of monster hunter games past was what put you off of the series, this latest entry into the franchise may just tickle your fancy. Gone are the days of forgetting to bring a hot/cold drink only to find yourself staring down a most regal Teostra. Of course items are not out as a whole, you still need to bring food to sate your hunger and bring potions to heal. In short, if you want more combat and less guzzling, this is the game for you. To this end the developers have given us a nifty new tool, the wire bug, that essentially allows the player to channel the spirit of Spider-Man.

Very fun game to play with friends. The matches are quick and the rewards are fair and fun.

Beyond light has made this expansion almost entirely irrelevant. The gear that comes from this expansion is useless going into beyond light, and the story is quite honestly not good. The moon is decent but the raid is pointless and some parts are not well thought out (unbreakable shields that require a specific mod that you have to grind out every new season for each gun type).

Just about all the gear that you can get from this expansion has been made entirely and absolutely irrelevant in beyond light (even if you don't pay for beyond light). The story is decent enough, albeit a bit too short, but their is simply not enough relevant content in this expansion to justify the price tag.

40 dollars is asking too much in my opinion (especially considering how much content was permanently removed going into this expansion). The story is actually rather nice this time around, though there is a serious disconnect between the developers and the community if they think that 40 dollars for a couple quests and some lackluster abilities is fair.

Not enough content for the price (especially with them removing at least a third of the game for EVERYONE). To be honest this DLC should have been 30 dollars at most (including all season passes for the year).

The good:

-Every story pre-shadowkeep is of good quality, but they've gotten shorter as time has gone on. There is really only one story before shadowkeep now that the devs have axed most of the content.
-The gunplay is decent.
-The game worlds that the dev's have managed to create are, for the most part, genuinely intersting even after many repeated visits.

The bad:

-The dev's are increasingly greedier with each passing update (in short, less content for more money).
-Every campaign after the red war campaign (base game campaign) is relatively very short.
-The dev's seemingly have absolutely no clue on how to balance gear for both PvE and PvP.
-The bulk of the content is an artificially lengthy grind (Achieving max power level is needlessly time gated, as well as raid loot and other loot).
-The dev's have absolutely no issue with nerfing gear regardless of whether or not the nerf is justified (many of the past nerfs could have been entirely avoided had the dev's buffed other gear) as well as no regard for the difficulty to obtain certain gear.
-The dev's have a seriously lengthy turn around on patching bugs.

Summary:

I used to be able to recommend this game despite the cons outnumbering the pros due to it being free-to-play, but this game has gone so far downhill with even more nonsense to come that I can no longer recommend it to anyone. The base game is free, yes, but in order to stay relevant in the late/end game you have to buy the later expansions else you become woefully underpowered and outgunned. Furthermore the devs are bringing back a feature from Destiny 1 that I was hoping would never even be discussed again: content sunsetting. Basically what this means is that any gear from expansions prior to whatever the current expansion may be can only be infused to a certain light level, at which point it can no longer be powered up and is useless in late/end game content. The devs have said that some gear may get an updated version released that will keep that piece of gear relevant, but you will have to grind for that gear again as well as deal with any changes that were made to that gear. Content sunsetting is a very weak way of dealing with the ongoing problems that bungie has with power creep (it deals with it in so much that they are simply running away from the problem and not addressing it) and shows that the devs have zero regard for your time as a player.

The game has made a massive improvement in overall quality since it's launch back in 2016. One of it's greatest additions is multiplayer of course, but it has also seen improvents to things such as world gen and performance improvements, as well as several graphics overhauls. All in all I can safely recommend this game as I feel that it is a safe investment.
