I think it's fun for a bit if you have a group to play with. There's some funny interactions you can do with the environment, and I like being able to push people or give ur friends hugs. I got bored after a few rounds, but it can be fun.

I'd also disregard people leaving bad reviews focusing on how bad random lobbies are, or calling it abandonware. These kinds of games kinda require already having a group if you're going to enjoy it, and I don't think every game needs constant updates if it's been finished.

That's definitely not to say it's amazing or anything, but there's some fun to be had here.

Sometimes u just wanna rip a guy in half, and this game's good for those times.

This is also one of the few games that gets more fun the harder it is, so I'd recommend trying out nightmare on it.

this is probably the only game i'd recommend hanging out in random online lobbies for. it's nice

if you're playing in big (8+ people) lobbies, you'll probably need to download the antilag mod to have any frames btw. This game currently chugs a bit with the more people you have

I started playing this since I thought the wizard-with-a-staff-inside-his-gun aesthetic was funny, but was surprised when this game ended up being *this* good.

The gameplay ofc is fun. You're given enough to work with for things to be interesting even at the beginning, but the gameplay progression is so well paced. You get to choose interesting upgrades to each characters' skills, add new characters to the team, and fight new enemies gradually through the story so encounters are evolving fast enough to stay interesting without becoming overwhelming. There's always a new way to throw people out a window as you keep playing. And every once in a while there's a mission that will make you use your powers in some unusual way for a seemingly impossible encounter, and it's always so cool putting together how you can survive it.

But what I really underestimated was how good the story, characters, and world-building would be. The game isn't just a series of breaches, you get these really well made cutscenes and intermissions between each level that really tie the game together. You'll get to see your characters talking to each other, and discussing how to stop a world war and all that on a bunch of really nice environments that were designed completely separate from any of the breaching gameplay rooms. This really gives the characters a lot of room to shine, and they feel surprisingly genuine for a game that I went into thinking would just be goofy wizard puns.

I think the game's funny too, in a way that really complements the storytelling and gameplay. One example I like is how the storm witch you play as, Jen, is a single cat mom and because of this she has to bring Darrell (cat) along as they travel between mission sites. It's always fun seeing her cat brought along with her luggage as they awkwardly take some sort of public transport to their next site, or seeing him just being a cat in whatever they're using as a mission room. There's also fun running gags such as Jen dunking on the traffic warlock (accompanied by objectives for throwing him out the window, hitting him with his own cars, etc).

There's plenty more to poorly articulate that I love about this game, but man, game good.

Early Access Review
This is the kind of game that I play for an entire day, don't realize it, and then melt into a puddle thinking about all the time I just spent.

I kinda expected this game to be a pile of slop that I'd just enjoy for a little bit based on what I saw people saying, but it's actually good! It's really cool having a monster tamer with *this* much interactivity with your "pals". You can throw em out to run beside you whenever, manage how they'll help craft stuff at your camp, and you can mount and manually control the moves of a pretty surprising number of them. Once you get some faster mounts the game really opens up. It does really feel like a really good implementation for an open world pokemon-type game. The pals are tied in with pretty much every aspect of the survival gameplay and I really like it.

It's not really beating the "copying pokemon's homework" allegations with some of their designs though, like Lycanroc was pretty much ripped into this. He's one of my favorite pokemon though so meh, I like him here too. There are a lot of pretty original pals in here that are cool though, and while they really didn't go out of their way at all to differentiate their designs from pokemon, I think we can let games share concepts like "water type penguin" or "round sheep" without much fuss. I expected to go into this game and point and laugh at a bunch of plagiarism, but was pleasantly surprised. Any monster collector game is going to feel like pokemon since they dominate the genre, but this is a fun game and does a lot to show cool new directions that this genre can go in.

Also the voice acting for human NPCs is tip top notch

Even though it's early access, it's already a game I can have fun sinking a lot of time into. I'd recommend getting some friends and going in blind, since getting freaked out together by everything for the first time is the most fun I've had in a game in a while.

This is probably the greatest implementation of proximity chat that we've had in a game. It's so funny / scary when you're exploring with a friend, and they suddenly go silent or get their screams cut off as they die. The voice chat also does cool stuff, like muffle you if something's on your head, filter your voice differently in open / closed areas, and even alert certain monsters if you're too loud.

Something I'd like to see in the game are some small cosmetic customization options. Nothing too big, but having just enough customization to make it easier to tell people apart without buying the suits every run would be good, since you need to be pretty close to actually read people's names. Aside from that, just getting some more content to make the differences between moons more interesting will be cool, but that's probably on the way.

Update: I'd really like it if we can get support for larger lobbies built into the game. Modding for More Company usually works well, but it can be a headache to set up sometimes when we're only trying to let some more friends in, especially when coordinating mod profiles between a bunch of people. The game's definitely balanced around 4 people, but I think it still plays fine with even 10 people. Aside from that, update 45 was great you're doing great Zeekers :)

This game will turn your brain fog into brain frogs.

Really, I love how all the frogs are animated in this, they're really all there chilling. Has a surprisingly nice story to go along with it, I liked this a lot. The gameplay and exploration isn't too deep, but I was vibing so hard just watching the little frogs go
