Love this game. Controls are great, maybe a little repetitive and slightly grindy at points, but it's still a great piece of fun. The Drive Your Way update was a good one, too, because that way at least I could ramp up the difficulty as I never really felt in danger until I turned it up. I would recommend this game if you wanna feel what it's like living in western washington on a daily basis.

As much as I would like to recommend this game, I sadly cannot right now. There are may good features added to the game which make some really janky and rather tedious things, such as construction, far more enjoyable. The time for loading in and out of thee island takes mere seconds to happen instead of 1 minute+. I can go on on how much is improved on the game, even many little things that honestly make it so much nicer to play.

However I do have to point out the massive elephant in the room. This thing we call Ark Survival Ascended. It should be called Ark Survival Devolved, because the devs took some very important things and evolved them backwards. Multiplayer right now has turned into a Nitrado monopoly. Snail Games has made it so you cannot hos your own games on your own machine. You must buy a licence from Nitrado and get their server hosting, which is not known for stability nor performance despite supposedly being the number 1 server hosting platform. This monopoly has allowed Nitrado to massively spike their prices, making it extremely predatory.

What about non-dedicated hosting with insane tether distance? Sadly, half the game and world settings do not function at all. Tether distance is one of these things. it is locked at 180 meters from the host. As much as i love my friends, I don't think having a dozen of us in the same place at all times is going to work out, especially with Ark being Ark, you generally need to split the party to really make rapid progress in multiplayer.

The other big thing is absolutely broken promises, Wildcard is known for not meeting deadlines. That I can overlook. What I cannot overlook is that there were multiple promises that were made for this game that were broke. People who were already owners of ASE were supposed to get ASA as a free upgrade. After they broke that promise they said it would be bundled with a pre-order of ARK 2. Notice we have not even had the opportunity to do anything but wishlist ARK 2, and suddenly we get ASA dropped on our heads but not bundled with ARK 2 pre-order. It's sadly becoming harder to trust game companies, and Wildcard is no exception here. Even back in the early days of ASE, they stated there would not be any paid DLC then months later Scorched Earth appeared. I stress again do not buy this game. Maybe if they fix their issues and allow server hosting I may possibly change my review of ASA.

I have to say, shooting at the sun has never been as enjoyable as this.

welcome to the largest black hole of a time sink, where you are playing around with parts of your factory, trying to find out ways to make your factory better, maybe even neat and pretty. You'll look at the clock and realize you've been playing for 9 hours without food, water, or a bathroom break. You'll look back at your factory, shrug, and say "Let me just finish setting up this refinery array." You get lost again in the factory and look back at the clock and see another 5 hours have passed, and your body is screaming for a break. and you begrudgingly give it the break it deserves.

prepare to lose sleep, and when you do you dream about your factory, losing it to biters and watching in horror as they undo your precious work. You wake in a cold sweat and boot up your computer and the game to see everything is fine. But since you're here, may as well start setting up that new rail system since your iron demand is growing beyond what your measly starting iron patch can handle.

Your phone rings, it's your friend. You don't answer even though you promised you'd go hang out at their place. They text you but you ignore it. You only just now realize the sun is up, you look at the clock and it's already 2 in the afternoon. The factory is growing well and you think what's the harm in going on a little more?

Before you know it the assemblers become your only friends and you are trying to convince your weary body that you have transcended basic needs, like the factorio engineer has. He only eats food to heal himself, and you adopt that mentality. But after a lot of mental sweat, biter blood, and tears you shed as your factory friends fall around you, you finally launch your first space rocket.

Only you forgot to put the satellite in.

So you go back and edit the factory to produce more things to make a satellite, and the rocket even faster. And finally after your hard work you get your proper rocket to space, and shed a tear of joy for once. Many days have passed in the real world. But that doesn't matter now as you have become one with the factory.

And this is only the beginning of the journey.

The 20 minutes of playtime I have for this game was loading assets from disk. But only for the game to crash halfway through that loading process. Never, have I ever had a game take longer than 2 minutes to load the initial game. I gave it another shot because maybe it was being slow, but it crashed very shortly after the loading screen appeared. I am returning the game for now, and might pick it up again later.

Firstly, I wish there was an in between button, because I do like the game but there are some headaches to it.

I've played this game on both Xbox and PC and the PC version is the better of the two, but even it needs help. The concept and gameplay idea are great, though could use a a bit or rework and improvements. I know it's 2017 but a remastered or new game would be a welcome sight, with Better AI and possibly more variety. AI especially is a problem since pathfinding is hit or miss, but the game does provide challenge as it progressively get harder the longer you are in the game, though at a certain point you have so much technology and resources you can basically steamroll everything with a single Manta and Walrus. Cutscenes in the Campaign are in need of help as well, and in fact the game can be clunky in general. So unless you have a lot of patience and are open to looking past the flaws you'll enjoy the game like I do.

I do think that Bohemia Interactive needs to either make an update or make a sequel to Gaea Mission with much better AI and just add more to the game.

Ooohhhhhh where do I start. Very very good game. It may look like a cheesey joke game, but oh my are you mistaken. Very good storyline and character dvelopment. You become very concious about your choices and what might become of them, and you become so eveloped in it all. Imagine a storybook that you're reading, but you are the main character and whatever you chose writes in to the rest of the narrative and it's all influenced from there. And of course if you like dragons you'll like this. Prepare for an emotional rollercoaster
