Early Access Review
This is a mixed review, I'm giving it a thumbs up because the good was better than a lot of higher priced fully released games and there is no in between option.

I recommend this game in it's current state because, the game play was quite good and seems very polished. A lot of the higher priced more hyped games are no where near as polished as this game is. The world is one of the most beautiful I have seen in a survival sandbox and runs smoothly. The crafting and building are intuitive, and sure it could use a few QOL improvements here and there, along with some more variation, but the game is in EA and the systems are quite well done.

THE GOOD

1. The game is beautiful
2. The movement and player control is quite good
3. The combat is is fluid and gets better as you level up your skills
4. The crafting is simple, intuitive, and progresses well
5. The building is simple and intuitive

I do not recommend this game in it's current state because, you get around 15 to 20 hrs of exploring and finding things for the fetch quests and buying of recipes, but the only reason it takes that much time is because quests are tedious, time consuming, and not very impactful or fulfilling. There is little to no story, or at least not one that leaves an impact. The tutorial tells you what to do but gives very little in the way of how to do things, they just expect you have played a ton of games like this and know. The world feels quite small and empty. The enemies are just the same thing reskinned repeatedly with no variation in how they act. I felt no sense of urgency or accomplishment at any time during my playthrough. It feels like an extremely well polished and beautiful demo.

THE BAD

1. There are only some quests that feel like MMO fetch quests, not impactful or fulfilling.
2. There is no story
3. The world is very small and feels quite empty
4. The only reason I was able to figure out what to do in the game was because I pressed J hoping there was a journal and luckily there was. The tutorial tells you what to do but does nothing for telling you how.
5. !@$# the Dionysus shrine quest!

Online play to accommodate between 250k and 500k people, has remained largely unplayable for almost a week. One to two days is pushing the limits of acceptable, especially when even early access games with more players can get it right in short order.

Sure you can play offline, but that removes the social aspect of the game. You deliver half a game you should give us back half our money.

Multiplayer is really bugged. Things you kill disappear instantly, your character can freeze and and reset your save back to the first time you drank ayahuasca, and if the nonhosting player is force disconnected they get reset back to the first time they drank ayahuasca. Better hope you don't freeze while saving.

I haven't gotten very far in this game yet, but that is because this seems to be pretty bad on PC. I would probably leave a good review on console, but so far I do not feel like there was enough quality control done for the PC version, especially the keyboard and mouse control. I would say that using a controller is a MUST for now. I haven't even made it out of the base area and I have found some pretty annoying issues.

1. Game loaded shaders for over an hour.

2. You can kind of remap the keys as the game refuses to allow you to assign them how you wish, I.E. I can set the attack 2 to esc, but cant set esc as the camp menu. There are more instances like this but it would take a while to go over them all.

3. Using a mouse to move the camera barely works, so if you set your attacks to your mouse keys you will still need to use the arrow keys on your keyboard to for camera movement.

4. Every time you tab out it changes full screen mode settings, which is obnoxious.

5. There is no 3440x1440 resolution.

I wanted to like this on PC (didn't really feel like hooking up my PS5), but if I ran into all these annoyances before I even got out of the opening zone, so I cannot recommend this as it is.

Assassins Creed in a zombie setting. I recommend this only if you like that kind of thing. I personally would rather play assassins creed as the stories are far better. I expected more for the hype, but that doesn't mean the game isn't what was advertised.

Is Studio Wildcard greedy? Hell yes they are, it is a business.

Does Studio Wildcard deliver on it's grandiose claims? If they do, it will be way way later than the original set date.

Will I continue playing anyway? I can knock someone out, give them a mohawk, paint penises on their face, lock them in a cage, and make them listen to Boy George through a microphone whilst shooting them in the face with a sling shot. I will never quit playing this game
